[member name removed], I'm glad you're happy with the service received. I like being able to figure out problems that nobody else has found before. I don't like high voltage! - it hurts a little bit! - mostly when you're not expecting it and nobody is ever expecting it. We can laugh about it now. Let me know if you need anything else.Service Provider Response

Dear (member name removed), I always encourage and welcome customer reviews. I’m also always open to any constructive criticism that will help me to improve my customer service or business practices. For over 20 years I’ve prided myself in providing quality, professional irrigation repair services, going above and beyond whenever needed just to make sure that my customers were completely satisfied. I have fallen short occasionally but I very seldom repeat any mistakes I’ve made along the way. Your review caught me by surprise because there was nothing about your service call that should have been anything less than all A’s in my opinion. It was, in all respects, a textbook service call. Several parts of your review were not correct and other important facts were omitted. So in fairness to me and to the rest of the Angie’s List members, I feel obligated to set the record straight. First off, you listed the “Approximate Cost” as $250.00 – the actual cost was exactly $173.56. That’s a difference of $76.44. Normally I would not take issue with this but you gave me a score of “C” on price so I felt it necessary to address this part of your review. Second, station 1 had very low pressure and the cause was a defective valve. It was necessary to use an electronic device to locate the valve. This can sometimes take some time to complete due to what goes into attaching the equipment and then using a receiver and listening through headphones to precisely locate the specific valve. In this case it actually went very fast. Once I found the valve, the water had to be turned off to the irrigation in order to take the valve apart and inspect the internal components. After the valve was taken apart, there was the issue of pumping out the residual water inside the irrigation system before any other work could be performed. This took time because water had to be pumped out of the area. All of this work was done under your watchful eye and every move was fully explained to you as I performed it. The valves that you have are very responsive to being rebuilt as opposed to being replaced. It should be stressed that 90% of all companies would recommend replacing defective valves instead of repairing the old one. They do that because they make a lot more money digging the area up and cutting out the old valve and gluing in a new one. It takes a lot longer and they make more money on the labor. I don’t do business that way and I never will. Almost every valve out there can be rebuilt and it will be as good as a new one at a quarter of the price. This should surely rate an “A” for quality and for professionalism in my opinion. After I finished repairing station 1, I turned the water back on to the irrigation system and pressurized the mainline. I then meticulously checked every station for proper operation. I inspected all of the areas that you indicated were not working right or covering correctly. This also took time to complete because I wanted to make sure that my assessment of each area and the adjustments made were correct. As we walked the yard together, I unclogged several heads and made numerous adjustments. I changed some nozzles in the back yard because the current nozzles were incorrect and that’s what caused the huge dry spot just off the patio. I also raised one of the heads in the back planter so that the entire bed now gets coverage instead of just a small part. The last thing that I did was discuss more effective ways to set the controller to maximize the efficiency of the cycles since you’re only able to water one day per week. I think I even set the controller for you as we discussed, if my memory serves me correctly. This took a little time as well. In all, I charged for 1.75 hours labor which was very fast considering everything I did while at your house. The parts came to only $31.00 which is very reasonable I think. Again addressing the “C” you gave for price. Finally, I’m really confused about the “B” for punctuality. We emailed back and forth and agreed on a day that would work for both our schedules. The time was originally set for 3pm to 5pm. However, that morning I called you and asked if I could move up the appointment because another customer needed to reschedule due to a conflict on their schedule. The new time frame was now 1pm to 3pm. Then because my day was going extraordinarily well I was able to get to your house even earlier than expected. I called you at around noon and said that I was running early and was headed your way and you said that was fine. I arrived at 12:25pm. Normally that would not generate a negative response related to “Punctuality” but I guess in this case it did and for that I apologize. But in all fairness that was out of my control. Service work can be very unpredictable sometimes. I have worked very hard to build a company that has one of the best reputations in the Austin area. I want to treat every customer the way I want to be treated. I truly want to be the best of the best – period. I sincerely hope that you receive this response in the spirit in which it is intended. Hopefully in the process I was not rude or misleading in any way about this incident. I just wanted to state my case as accurately as possible. This was a very unfortunate incident for which I profoundly regret. I have literally tried to be the absolute very best service technician that anyone has ever had at their house for any reason. I pride myself on being highly organized, professional, thorough, and honest. I freely admit that I made a mistake and acknowledge that nobody is perfect. I will try my very best to make sure that this never happens again. - JeffWe have 12 yrs experience in landscaping and irrigation services, we take pride in our services.
