We are very sorry that you were inconvenienced. After several problems with fraud on credit cards taken over the phone we replaced that practice with an easy online payment system. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE.
Description of Work: Very punctual and friendly technician, checked both the inside AC unit and the outside. The service included up to two units of Freeon if needed. WE had our TRANE HVAC installed new approximately 6 or 7 years ago and have had excellent service from it. Really didn't expect there to be problems and for age of the unit, there were none. But, being inexperienced with these units I was surprised that it did need almost 2 lbs of freon. The technician said we were really lucky because the freon is to get a price increase in the next couple of months due to some change in it, and it would have cost us $200 per pound - or $400 if we had delayed our service checkup. He also kindly changed out the filter in the inside unit which is very difficult for us senior citizens to do; and gave us information where we can purchase different filters that work just as well in this unit. ALL IN ALL, we are very satisfied customers and highly recommend Tom's Mechanical.

Description of Work: When I phoned I thoroughly described the problem as being a leaky condensation pipe and that it was leaking near the bottom. The receptionist took the information and proceeded to try to sell me a service plan for $120.00. A service person would be at my home between 1 and 5. Around 5:15 PM I received a courtesy call that they hadn't forgotten me and he would call before he came. They were running late. The repairman arrived at about 10 til 6:00, without calling first. He took one look and said it probably would require a plumber to fix the clog. He cut the pipe to see that there was standing water, said he couldn't fix it and charged $76.00. He offered to check the rest of the system as part of the $120 service plan, but I declined. If I had been forewarned by whomever took the call that a plumber might need to fix it I wouldn't be so disastisfied. Plus, $76.00 is too high. I will pass on Tom's next time.

Description of Work: Our A/C died on a Fri. night. We decided to try to tough it out and use fans to cool off. The first night was tolerable, Sat. night was horrendous. I couldn't reach the man who'd installed our A/C (he does this on the side) and looked up Tom's Mechanical on Angie's List. Called them early Sun. AM; don't recall all the details about whether I had to leave a message, but I do remember they got back to me rather quickly. The repairman was a little late as his previous job in Arlington took longer than he'd thought, he might've been 30 min. to an hr. late. He had a good suspicion of what was wrong over the phone and was able to confirm his hunch when he arrived (something about a blown capacitor? don't recall exactly). Apparently this was happening frequently during the height of the heatwave. He replaced the part quickly and, voila!, problem solved. We haven't had any problems until now - the A/C's out again (last night), they'll be out later this AM.

Description of Work: AC stopped blowing cold air. I called a bunch of Angie's list places for emergency evening service. Tom's Mechanical was the one of last one I called and one of first ones to respond. I then told him my husband had figured it out - workmen in the garage had overloaded the circuit with the AC on it and blown the breaker. Even though they didn't come out the fact they called back so quickly shows they are thorough as well as prompt and professional. Definitely will try Tom's Mechanical in the future.

Description of Work: We had one of the air handlers replaced in our home air conditioning system. We contacted Tom's Mechanical as the result of wanting a 2nd opinion for the need to replace it. All the individuals I came in contact with from the receptionist to the repair tech to the salesman to the installers were courteous, prompt and efficient. Everyone showed up when they said they would, did the work they were supposed to do and it cost what the estimate indicated it would. Period. The workmen paid attention to cleanup and the company salesman followed up with both a phone call and a letter. Before he left, the lead installer asked me if I had any operational questions.
