"All Ernie's customers have to be home on the initial call in order for us to give you an absolute Free Estimate and get your signature prior to our beginning the work. We actually prefer that you always be home just in case our plumber must converse with you or even show you something. Reviewing previous work orders with you it appears that at times we had to come back to either begin or complete work that was in progress in which you do not have to be home. I'm sorry if this leads to any confusion on your part. We certainly would like to keep you as a customer. I hope this helps. Respectfully, Ernie."

I understand that they don't charge a trip charge, but when work is done on the same visit (which saves them another trip) a discount needs to be applied.

Recently I used Ernie?s Plumbing (EP) to determine a possible sewage leak under the slab of my home consisting of a ?static test? and camera inspection of the entire sewer line. I found EP to be very courteous, professional, punctual, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, I also found them to be a little pricey for my budget. I understand they are very good at what they do and word-of-mouth confirmed their elite status.
However, it pays to shop around. I was able to secure another professional who was able to match EP?s repair bid and also include additional work (what EP proposed would be an additional cost) saving me around $6,000 big ones!
I also found communication with EP to be a concern. They never once called to follow up with me to see if I was still interested. Also, my insurance agent had difficulty with EP not returning calls. It was only after I ?conferenced in? both parties on my phone were we able to obtain the necessary information.
I will use Ernie?s Plumbing again in the future and I recommend you do the same; just don?t forget to shop around!
