Destiny Air was hired by First American Home Warranty to correct an issue that surfaced after a new air handler was installed by Burge Comfort Services (Do not hire Burge, their work caused a leak that ruined a ceiling in the house). The issue was that the new air handler was leaking water into the emergency pan and not draining through the primary or secondary drains. Destiny surveyed the unit and told me that the unit needed to be reinstalled to correct the drainage issue. (As an aside, the technician showed up in tattered jeans and had I not known who he was, would not have allowed him into the house.) The Tech told me that he would return the next day to complete the reinstall. After he left, I found the unit unresponsive with no voltage to the thermostat. Since he had taken the door off the air handler, I assumed he had caused a short in the units transformer. I texted the technician with that discovery, but received no response. Since this is our second home, I stayed and extra day to have the repairs completed. At the end of the day, when Destiny had not returned, I called the office. I was eventually connected with the owner, who emphatically told me that they had not promised to return. He also passed off as "coincidental" that my A/C unit quit working after his tech worked on it. He told me to file a new claim to fix that. His attitude was extremely confrontational. I was told then that the warranty company would need to approve their repair plan. Over a week later, Destiny finally provided the warranty company with the information needed to approve the work. Destiny scheduled an appointment for 9-12. Supposedly the first appointment of the day. The technicians showed up at 3:30. Apparently, they had to return to another job, from the previous day, but the office staff was either unaware or just lied about their schedule. They worked reinstalling the unit for 6 hours. At the end of hour 5 they pronounced completion. I inspected the work and found the unit to still be leaking. They worked another hour, announced completion, and the problem persisted. The owner was called and he was emphatic that Destiny Air had completed the work that they had recommended and demanded that I pay their bill. I refused, saying that the issue was drainage and that their "recommended fix" had not remedied that issue. I told him that First American was the responsible party in the repair and that I would report the issue to them. I also sent First American a video of the unit continuing to leak and recommending that First American withhold payment. First American followed up with Destiny Air and a follow call was scheduled for today, again between 9-12. At 11:15 I contacted Destiny to inquire about their arrival and was assured that I was the first call of the day and that they would be there by 12:00. I left my house at 2:00 without seeing Destiny Air. They will not be allowed back in my house. Needless to say, I am quite disappointed with First American Home Warranty as well for the poor professionalism in the contractors they hire.

Description of Work: I was happy with Destiny Air until July 6th. The humidity upstairs was high, even the floor was sticky. The new unit is ten months old. Someone came out and supposedly fixed it. I came home, the end of July, it was still humid upstairs. Someone came out August 8th to repair it. As of now, the humidity is taken care of- I think. In the meanwhile, black mold accumulated in the air ducts. Destiny Air said they were sending out someone August 29th to take care of it two weeks after I called them. Hopefully, I can trust them and someone will come. In the meanwhile, they do not answer their phone or return calls of which I have called them up to seven times a day.

I honestly do not want to waste my time writing an entire 2 page story about how horrible this company is and the issues they have caused but I will briefly sum up what I would call a disaster. They were used through our home warranty company which already throws a red flag because the companies the choose are not always the best which I learned from having Destiny Air in my home. They attempted to put a new unit in my attic and remove the old one which they could not get it the new one to fit so I was left to remove my own attic door in order for them to complete the work since they could not... In the process of taking the old out and the new on in, mutiple walls were damaged, floors were chipped, and the front door was scratched right after a complete remodel of the home had been done... They finally get the unit in after I am left in charge of taking the attic door down... The unit worked for a short period of time then stopped due what they said "poor wiring caps" they had put on... The unit still was powering off and actually did so much damage it caused my main breaker on the breaker panel to go bad along with the A/C one. They of course blamed the old breakers and I was then forced to fight my home warranty company to have this replaced. Up to this point we had had a new unit in our attic with no working A/C for about a month due to the poor installation on their part. Another month later the electrical portion was finally fixed and finally we had a working A/C for more than a few days. Shortly after this, the drain pan and overflow was consistently pouring out water... Again the blamed the fact that my pipes were clogged even though I was able to poor an entire bottle of draino down with consistently flow... They did some changes and the problem still persisted... Finally had another A/C company come out to see why this was happening and why a few other issues were occurring. The guy was nice and said they honestly did a poor job installing the unit which I assumed and the unit was not what they would have recommended due to poor quality of the brand. Mind you I am furious at this point after everything we have been through but I was stuck... I had the new company fix some of the issues like the drainage and the massive air leaks that were happening due to poor sealing tape and installation from Destiny Air only after a few months of having the unit. You think that would be it, but nope, low and behold I went to use my heat for the first time the other day and it will not work for more than 5 minutes without tripping the breaker... The panel and all breakers have been replaced so I wonder what they will blame this on to deter blame on the poor work they completed. DO NOT USE THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY... YOUR BETTER OFF WITH A BROKEN A/C OR HEATER THAN USING THEM....

Where do I start.... The Background: We purchased a house last year because my mother was diagnosed with cancer and we needed to make sure her and my younger siblings were cared for. Our A/C shut down on us. We called our warranty company who sent over Destiny Air for a service call of $60. Supposedly there was a lot of work outside the warranty that needed to be done (despite our having an extended warranted that included HVAC) so we paid out-of-pocket to try to get everything straightened out and working properly - new drainlines had to be put in, pipes needed insulation, etc. Damage to the hardwood floors: Three men from Destiny Air worked in my attic to complete these tasks. Apparently the original homeowners had some of the AC unit up on a few bricks in the attic (I have no idea why). While removing these bricks, one of the men dropped a brick on my hardwood floor downstairs, leaving two large gashes in the floor. These weren't just scratches, they actually caused the wood to splinter in places. Although I was upset at the damage, they assured me the floor would be taken care of at no expense to me. I can understand a mistake and the man seemed genuinely upset by the damage he caused so I continued to let them work. Foot through the ceiling At some point I heard a crash from upstairs. I then heard all of the men immediately come downstairs and go out the front door. My sister ran downstairs and told me there was a gaping hole in the ceiling and that plaster was everywhere. I went up to find that was indeed the case and looked out the window to see the men outside, crowded around their truck. My husband and I went out to confront them and they said that due to moisture in the attic (which they tried to make out as our fault even though we had called them out to fix the AC to begin with), one of the men had slipped and put his leg through the ceiling. They had supposedly gone out to call the company to tell them what happened. Why they wouldn't immediately approach the homeowner and warn them instead of running out of the house... I have no idea. Again, they assured me that everything would be taken care of at no expense to me and that they had a reliable person they worked with who could fix the floor and the ceiling. My only other option was the put the money out to get it fixed myself (which I could not afford after just buying the house) and they would reimburse me (which I didn't trust them to do at this point). I agreed to let them send this "professional" over. It gets worse The man they contracted, who they swore they used many times, canceled on us twice before finally arriving. He was older and in very poor health. He could barely walk up our stairs. He had his wife with him who appeared to have just as many, if not more, health issues. Both individuals had extremely bad body odor which lingered in rooms after they had left and it was not from working at other jobs all day as they came first thing in the morning. They left my front door open the entire time they worked even though I asked them many times to close it because I have cats. The only reason they seemed to leave the house was to sit in the truck for extended breaks anyway. They worked on patching the hole in my ceiling for literally a whole day - morning-evening with hardly any progress due to his poor health. Also, they left for several hours to go to Lowes (which is three intersections away from my house) because they didn't bring any supplies with them. Why? I have no idea. They knew they needed to patch a hole from Destiny Air. When they went to Lowes for more than three hours to get plaster, they left my front door wide open... not even an attempt to close it. Not even... "Well, I thought it was closed". Open. Wide open. In the heat. I called Destiny Air about this and they turned around and claimed it was my problem and I had to get to get him on track myself. When I approached the worker about this, he claimed Destiny Air was paying for him and he could only answer to them. After the first day of very little progress came to a close, the man told me he was leaving and asked if he could leave his bucket of wet, smelly plaster in the room until he could come back at some point in the future to finish the job. We told him no, he needed to take it. He took the bucket and we rescheduled him to come back to finish the job (because Destiny Air wouldn't pay for us to go anywhere else at this point) at HIS convenience because he couldn't seem to make anytime that worked for us. And then it gets unbelievable He returned with his wife and spent another useless day puttering around in that room and then left midway through the job again to take his wife to a doctor's appointment. I went up and found that the ceiling looked awful. There was plaster everywhere and he had managed to put a new large dent in one of the walls and stuck putty/plaster on another wall which hardened there. I called up Destiny Air again and demanded they come and see this for themselves because they were obviously blowing my concerns off as neurotic. When they actually saw what had been done, and I was in tears at this point, they agreed it was a mess and promised to get it fixed. They also told us that they had tried to get in touch with the man who was supposed to fix the ceiling and that he had DIED in the past few days. Whether this is some crazy truth or a crazy lie... I don't know. I wouldn't doubt that the man passed since he was in terrible shape. I don't know why they sent him in the first place. Not only was he not in good health, he was not in the least a professional. More like a guy who does these things in his leisure time to help his friends/family ... but doesn't actually know how to do those things. Epilogue Finally the room, floors, and A/C were "fixed". Now, only a few months later, we've had to call someone out because our A/C is acting strangely again. This guy is a real professional and told us point-blank without charging us for the visit that our pipes are run completely wrong - uphill - so they are not draining properly. He was able to spot this in seconds. This is supposedly what Destiny Air "fixed" for us... so we will be paying for this all over again but this time at least we have a professional. Use Apex Air and NEVER, NEVER call Destiny. If your warranty company tries to shove them off on you, demand someone else. It's even better to pay out-of-pocket if you need to in order to avoid these unprofessional and uncaring people. They will pretend like they are trying to help you and trying to fix their mistakes but they never really are... they're just trying to get paid and get out as quickly as possible. And Destiny Air, if you'd like to dispute this, I'm more than happy to share the many pictures I took while this was all going on.
Description of Work: They took about a month to actually fix the AC and made a mess of my ceiling and floor and caused an insane amount of stress for a month. They installed a surge protector on our AC unit and replaced a coil. They supposedly insulated pipes and fixed piping in the attic although I now know they didn't do it correctly.

We purchased a canal home that we had been remodeling and just recently needed the a/c. It was not cooling properly and we had a homebuyer warranty, so we called to have someone come out to check it out. There was a $60 service fee through the homebuyer warranty, so that is all we paid. Destiny called within the 24 hour period and set up a convenient time for us to come out. 2 gentlemen came out and introduced themselves as Destiny Air reps and told us what they would be doing. They first went into the attic then outside to check the outside unit. They informed us we were low on freon and added what was needed. They also informed us of the 2 items they found that were out of code because the unit was older and said would need to be corrected once we got a new unit or could have them fixed now. They did not pressure us at all. Since the unit is old and we know it won't be much longer before we need a new unit, we forgo the updates
Description of Work: Checked a/c unit and added freon.
