About us

Firehouse Chimney aka Seymour Chimney Cleaning was started in 1983 by my father and brother, Al and Mark Leitch, Dad saw a need for a local sweep due to the high number of chimney fires in the community. Al is a 30 year veteran with the local fire department. Now I (Kent, Al's youngest son) have managed and operated the company since 2000. I work full time at the City of Knoxville Fire Dept and attend church at Calvary Chapel Church. Our first priority is safety, 2nd is affordability. We treat people like we would want our grandparents treated, with kindness and respect. The customer is right. We always appreciate any feedback, whether good or bad, it helps us improve and grow. We are a debt free company that is family owned and operated with help from selected firefighters and paramedics. We offer free inspections in the Seymour / south Knox area. Typical prices for chimney sweeping range from $110-$120. Dryer vent cleaning ranges from $75-$100 (half off if chimney cleaning is already booked). Check out our website @ seymourchimney.com

On time, professional, neat and clean for such a messy job.  Seemed very knowledgeable spent time to talk about fireplace care and upkeep and answered questions I had about wood burning fireplace inserts.  We will definitely hire them again in the future!

They arrived on time and finished within an hour.  We have used this company previously to clean our chimney and we got excellent results.  They are active firefighters and can attest to the need for clean vents and chimneys, having seen the disastrouls results of chimney and dryer fires.

Kent is very professional and explains every service that he does.  Because of the bad weather recently, we had to reschedule a few times, but his team was very attentive to getting me scheduled quickly.  I would recommend and use again!

The guys did an excellent, clean job under messy weather conditions.  They contacted me quickly after purchasing the service to schedule the work and arrived as scheduled.  Given their expertise, I expanded the work to include inspection and cleaning of my fireplace.  It was great to feel everything was safe after their visit.  I happily recommend them and will use the company again.

Excellent - had asked for clean out of the dryer vent duct, but at the same price they

replaced it with a metal lined expansion vent line. Pleasant and efficient workers. Will

call them for chimney and fireplace cleanout later on.

This was some time ago, so I don't remember the gentleman's name or even the cost of the service. What I do remember is that I felt the cost was very reasonable and fair. I also felt he was knowledgeable, and honest. I did not at all feel pressured into unnecessary services. I WILL be using them again in the future.

I bought an Angie's List deal to get my dryer vent cleaned for $45. Scheduling was a breeze. They fit us in quickly. Arrived on time. Were extremely friendly and helpful. They cleaned the dryer vent, put everything back in order and made no mess. My new dryer is no longer complaining with the "check vent" light. While at our house they made sure we knew to check our smoke detector batteries. They also wanted to make sure we had emergency fire escape ladders for our children's bedrooms upstairs and gave us some great ideas on how to teach our young children to use them. This is a genuinely helpful organization. Everyone should use them. Thanks for everything!
