These parts were first installed in 2011 and 2013. On inspection by an independent garage, it was determined that the struts had been installed BACKWARDS and the tie rod had not been tightened properly. These were serious safety issues. I returned to have the situation corrected, and was charged labor to replace the tie rod. This is a very unprofessional way to operate an auto repair shop, and could have led to something much worse than a bill.

They missed the fact that my battery was on its last leg despite being heavily corroded and my concern that the car was not always starting easily.  They also informed me that I needed new tires--immediately.  After the $600 bill for the tune-up and oil-change, I was uncomfortable spending any more at the moment.  After taking the car to Costco, where I bought the tires originally, I was told I easily had another 4-6,000 miles of safe tread depth.

The only reason I would go back to Pep Boys Automotive is because it is convenient for where I live. I live in a pricey area, and their prices tend to be cheaper than everyone else. However, their work isn't that good.
