I was not very impressed with them. They took a long time to set up an appointment. Their bid was not that good and they took a long time to get the bid to me. They were very expensive and I did not like them at all.

Had Don Kennedy roofing come out before to quote for gutters, but weren't able to afford the work at the time. Gathered enough funds and called them back to see if they still had our quote on file or if they could re-quote and never got a response back.

I called them, and a representative came out to do an assessment.  They scheduled an appointment.  My overall experience was good.  I will score them A across the board.  They were great.

The shingling and sealing went fast. The persistent leak did not. It required three trips to find it and correct it and they were very professional about it tearing out portions of the rubber roof and replacing it until they fixed the problem. I am happy to have the leak gone and I greatly appreciated their perserverance and determination to find it and fix it. I thought the price was fair too.

A new roof these days costs a lot more than I expected, but the last one I purchased for the same home was 20 years ago. Don Kennedy's price was competitive with others, though somewhat higher. We still chose them because we felt more confident in their quality and professionalism and with the fact that they have been around a long time and probably will be in business for many more years. Should any problem arise, I feel sure they'll stand behind their work more than most and will go the extra mile. They started and completed the job pretty much when they said they would, which was tricky given the weather this March. The roof, which is 2 stories and has some tricky angles and valleys, took 3 days, including tear-off, plus an extra day for the metal guys to come in and do some copper flashing. Very impressed with the workmanship and appearance of the job. The gutters maybe went even better. Removed the old gutters one afternoon and came back and installed new gutters the next morning. Done by lunchtime. Beautiful job, and the gutters are draining just as they should. Both crews left a clean site. Everybody involved in the entire project seemed to take pride in their work and to be skilled and knowledgeable. In 20 years or so, I'll report back on how the roof and gutters have stood up.

The work was done well and as described. The on-site workers were not only diligent and skilled but went out of their way to point out to me a non-roofing problem that they noticed that would have caused damage had I not known about it and taken action quickly.

The crew arrived at our home at 7 am as we were leaving for work. When my wife and I returned home from work that evening all of the old shingles had been removed and the new ones had been installed. There was no mess, you could not tell they had been there other than the new roof. They did a wonderful job. The gutter crew came several days later and it was the same outstanding work, again all done in one day with no mess. The price was exactly as predicted. We did not pay until all work was completed and they inspected the roof and everything was to our satisfaction. Excellent job!

TwiceDKR folks have been out to repair roof. The leak is expanding. I have called multiple times to request someone come out once again to repair the leak. No one will return my calls. I sent Don Kennedy letter on 7/5/2010 with complete details. To date no response from him. I climbed into the attic myself and found the leak. From what I could tell the leak has nothing do with a copper chimney cap that was put on. Has been very frustrating experience. I have been billed over $1,000 and have paid the first bill of $873. but have not paid the second bill of $250 and will not until the problem fixed.

In bidding I had asked for 1/2" slopped foam, but that quote was much higher. They obviously didn't want to do it that way even though it would have improved my runoff and avoidance of puddling. They removed and replaced half of it with a team of 3 one day, skipped a day due to threat of rain, and then finished the second half and the band around the edge on the third day. Estimate, quote, and billing were very professional. Especially when compared with four other estimators who inspired very little confidence.

After the next rain, we still had a leak. When they came back, they said that it was not their fault that there was still a leak and said that I needed to pay for additional work. I found another company to work on the leak.

We felt very comfortable with Don Kennedy from the first meeting. We selected them despite their higher price point because we were confident in their work and their accreditations. Two or three weeks passed between selecting a color and the actual installation process. It took 7 1/2 days from start to finish for the roof, due to inclement weather on a few days. Gary even gave me his cell number in case something needed immediate attention during those wet days. We highly recommend Gary and his hand-nailing crew - a very noisy process was made more bearable by their friendliness and professional demeanor. Also, they cleaned up well every day. One tip: remember to cover your attic contents with old sheets - I'll be finding shingle dust for years due to our forgetfulness!

The company was a bit delayed in starting due to weather, but when they began the job. They worked diligently until it was completed. The men did an excellent job with putting on the roof and worked very hard to make sure that all nails and materials that were dropped in the yard were collected.

July 2003 I contacted Don Kennedy Roofing and 5 other companies for bids on my roof replacement. Don Kennedy's bid came in near the top, but I was assured that their materials and craftsmanship were superior to others. For instance they quoted 1x6 decking at $2.25/lf which was about 50 cents/lf higher than any other bid. I chose DKR because I believed they would provide the best product and back their work. Sept. 2003 I proceeded to follow DKR procedures for getting on their work schedule. My roof was leaking prior to my call to them, so I was told I would be put in an accelerated status. However, no one could ever confirm the scheduled start date nor would they concede that I should move on to another vendor. I gave up freelance work opportunities for 2 plus weeks to be available when they said they would arrive. Oct. 7, 2003 Materials arrived at my home and I was surprised to see white wood vs. pine decking boards. This did not look like superior material even though Mr. Kennedy assured me it was Spruce. Oct. 13-15, 2003 After 3-4 weeks of failed promises regarding their start date DKR sent a rookie crew to start my job. 3 non-English speaking gentlemen showed up and worked all day virtually unsupervised. One of them had a Nextel phone which seemed to contact someone on the DKR team. This same gentleman spoke enough English to ask how much I was being charged for the job. When I arrived home my house smelled strongly of gasoline which must have spewed out of their motorized lift they used just over my front door. All of the old roofing was removed and about 1/4 of the roof was redecked or felted. The job was only 1/3 done and heavy rains were predicted for the following day. The crew came back the next day, stood around for a while and then left vs. working in the rain. They finished the job the following day. They did not clean up after themselves and I still find roofing nails in the yard. They took a tarp that belonged to me. Oct. 22, 2003 Invoice arrived. Oct. 24, 2003 Flashing at the chimney was completed about a week later. However, this "skilled" employee chose to cut the chimney bricks in order to insert the flashing in one piece at an angle vs. using more material and time to create a step flashing at the mortar joints. No attempt was made to build a cricket at the chimney. I have at least one leak still in my roof. I have requested DKR to look at the area where the leak occurs. Water seems to travel down the bathroom vent pipe into my basement and drips on top of my dryer. It is not a plumbing problem. DKR representative "Billy" came out and spent time on the roof twice and could not find a problem. He did admit that DKR did not replace the boot at the vent. When else would you replace a boot if not when you replaced the roofing? I ceased to try and get any satisfaction from this company as they apparently were incapable of delivering a quality product. Photos and documentation available.

We hired Don Kennedy Roofing Company to repair a roof leak based on its advertisement as Roofing Contractor of the Year. After checking with the BBB, we hired the company and were very disappointed in its service. The company's representative took his best guess (without confirmation) of where he thought the leak was. We were told we needed to replace the flashing around the chimney, paid for the service, but eventually found out the leak was not repaired. Phone calls to the company were not returned. Our letters to the company received no response. Our warranty seemed meaningless. Due to serious damage to our interior ceiling, we eventually called another roofing company. The newly hired company quickly identified the source of the leak and repaired it immediately, at far less expense. The work done by Don Kennedy Roofing Company was unnecessary and unrelated to the leak site. Due to their poor and unprofessional conduct, we felt no choice but to report this company to the BBB.

Mr. Kennedy and his crew did a really nice job on the new roof. The clean up for the old roofing was immaculate. They worked quickly and well together. There was a little problem with nails coming through, but they came out and fixed the problem and all is fine. I recommend them.

I only have one complaint and that is that they did not tell me that so much debris would fall into my attic when they were doing the work. We keep a lot of things up there it was all covered in black and wooden dust and debris. Other than that, they did do a pretty good job and they even ran a nail magnet through our yard to make sure that all of the nails had been picked up. The quality of the job was good and the people were easy to talk to and work with.

I chose the new system with the perforated caps because they allowed more water to flow directly into the gutter instead flowing over the sides of the gutters. The craftsmanship of the copper flashing was absolutely phenomenal.

2 weeks to get estimate, then 6 weeks to get work done. A lot of damage done inside during the delay. Initially I was told it would be fixed in 2 weeks total. They applied the roof and it held 1.5 inches of water at all times. Don Kennedy himself said this was acceptable, even though the estimate said they would change the slope. He wanted to charge more for them to fix the slope and drainage. It's a good thing I had not yet paid them, as Don does not think insuring proper drainage is part of installing a roof. I'm sure getting him to make good on his guarantee would be impossible.

Tommy came back, as promised, within a few days and performed the work. I was not present the day the work was performed, but I had told Tommy that was not necessary. I received the bill from Don Kennedy Roofing and paid it promptly.

The work done was acceptable. However, they were eight weeks behind schedule. I was told the job would take one week, but instead took nine. Their communication was non-existent. I had to call their company routinely to ask when things were going to happen. Workmen would show up without warning. Also, their clean up was very poor. I found upwards of thirty nails in my driveway, and even one work crew flatted on the way out, which probably should have been their first clue that they were not cleaning up well. In summary, it is hard to find a good roofer, and Don Kennedy roofing at least seems to have done a decent job on the roof. But they were not professional in their actions and I felt like I had to be my own foreman to get things finished.

Excellent price compared to other quotes. Shingle type I picked was more expensive type that has to be installed carefully because it is longer. There was a short delay to start the job because they said they wanted to get the right crew, but the overall job was good and they communicated well through the whole process. I'd use again and recommend them.

Don Kennedy came out right away. I have had about four different companies try to fix the leaks and they were unable to. Don Kennedy was able to fix all of my problems. I highly recommend them.
