The store salesman encouraged to "buy online" for best selection and cost. That we did and delivery was made but the sofa of less quality than the store model plus defective. The sleeper frame sagged and contacted the floor. RTG customer service totally stiff armed our request for correction. Finally a trip to the store resulted in an exchange. That delivery resulted in another sofa with the same problem as the first. Again, customer service totally played hard ball with us and actually blamed us as responsible. No way they would do a refund. Then we even got suckered into a "reselect" option. If we purchased up in cost we could get credit for the original cost. Then they showed up to deliver the new sofa and wouldn't take the rejected sofa away because the delivery men didn't have a work order for a return. Now, yesterday they returned to deliver replacement AND take away the NG sofa. We are now left with ANOTHER dirty, damaged and malfunctioning sofa sleeper. And, the workers were so filthy dirty that they blackend the walls and door with body sweat and grime. Every delivery has been by dirty workers that look like they just slept under a bridge down by the river! Here's the deal with RTG. Their business model is first time only sales. They completely operate to bait and switch on the sale, then offend you in customer service to make you give up. NEVER dance with this devil.

I went with a friend to look at couches and found a floor model on sale, chair included. A salesman greeted us and was mildly attentive. I decided that I liked the couch/chair enough to buy, but knowing furniture is always negotiable, I attempted to make a reasonable offer, requesting that an end table be included or sales tax removed, etc. He would not budge, so I left the store. ************************** I decided I really wanted the furniture, so I returned several hours later in hopes that I might find a salesman a little more eager to make a sale, but resigned to pay the original price without bargaining. In fact, I saw my previous salesman drive away as I was going inside, and I was glad. **************************** All the salesmen were congregated in the front of the store, and I was greeted by one who asked who my previous attendant was when I explained I'd been in earlier that day. I said I didn't remember. He went to the back room and returned, asking if it was J----. I said yes, and he said J---- would be right out. I waited and waited (running late for work), and as it turned out, they had called J---- and were making me wait for him to drive all the way back to the store to make the sale (I'd never have known this had I not seen him leave). After I explained I was in a hurry, the transaction was begun (almost begrudgingly on their part), and they typed his code in so he'd get the sale. Finally J--- arrived, and he did not greet me or even make eye contact, and the rudeness and unprofessionalism of this stunned me. I should point out that I had been extremely polite and pleasant the entire time, and in no way had been a "high maintenance" customer that might have antagonize them or warranted lesser treatment. ************************** They forgot they couldn't take a check on sale items (yes I was even paying cash), so that delayed things another 15 minutes while they voided it. All the while, the salesmen were smug and condescending, and I got the distinct impression they had been talking about me in a derogatory way. It was all extremely unprofessional, and I felt they could care less if I bought anything, and in fact might prefer if I just left the store. If I hadn't liked this couch so much, I would have. ************************* Don't go there. I think they would prefer you didn't bother them.
