Fast accurate and Great work

Well, I will probably hate myself for writing this but sometimes you have to be "selfless"!!! I cannot say enough nice things about this company. The team, lead by owners Lamar and Marilyn, were so great. They cared about the work they did in my home. For the last several years, we've met many contractor "types" and I can't say they were all that great but that changed in meeting Lamar. He takes pride in his company and workmanship...so rare these days. If there is a problem, I never worried about it because I knew it would be handled correctly and quickly. If they tell you they can do something, than they can do it! This is a trustworthy and solid company that can be relied upon to handle their responsibilities toward your home. They have one thing left of finish up but I have no worries that it will be handled quickly. Leaving this review will probably cost me "waiting" time for my next project but I must spread the good word about these folks. AND, yes, I plan to use them again with a bigger project in the near future!! Thank you to all at G and B Carpentry, you restored my faith in contractors!! :)

The process was smooth. I was always updated on what was going on from beginning to end. Even though my wife and I were not able to be home when the work was performed, I was sent pictures of the work. It was also easy to submit payment for the work. Lastly, Betty was awesome. She answered every question that I had and always had an open line of communication. I will definitely go with them again if/when more work is needed.

After confirming an appointment with them via the angie's list system, and getting a response of acceptance back, they felt the need to re-confirm again via a phone call, which I missed. I was still expecting them to show up and even took a day off work for the appointment, only to find out they weren't coming because I didn't re-confirm my appointment, which seems very unprofessional. I thought like any other profession one confirmation was enough, like the other contractors I met with for this project. If they weren't interested in coming out to my house (I live in the country) they shouldn't have set an appointment with me. I guess I get to burn a vacation day from work for nothing.

They were responsive to my needs and I was satisfied with their work.

They did a great job! Very professional. Price was higher than other estimates I received, but high quality was worth the higher price. I would definitely recommend and hire again. They were outstanding!

G&B was timely with the quote and repair work. The price was fair and I am pleased with the result.

Lamar and the whole G&B team did a FANTASTIC job on my project. I am in the middle of a kitchen renovation down to the studs. They came in got everything prepped for drywall install, installed, and finished for paint. The team he used were all top notch Carlos, Tom, Antonio, Larry, etc. Lamar communicated each day to let me know who and when would be showing up. They showed up on time or even early! The workers were all super friendly and loved to talk. They loved their profession and working with G&B. They were able to get my kitchen paint ready in about 7 working days. I would not think twice about calling G&B to do my next project. Although, they may not be the cheapest (they are certainly not the most expensive either) I wouldn't worry as you know their end product will be near perfect and they will not leave the project until you are 100% satisfied with the work.

They arrived on time and got the work done in a timely way. The quality of the carpentry work was excellent. We called them back to fix one detail and this was also done well.

The stairs went well , they only had to come back once to finish , the Water resistance dry not so well , I was quoted 1400 for what I thought was the wall beside the stairs and the wall at the bottom of the stairs but when they did the work they only did the bottom wall , they stated the wall beside the stairs was not in the quote … I was told I would have to pay another 780.00 to do that wall , I went back and looked at the quote and there is nothing on measurements or how much wall was going to be cover in the quote … I would not have paid 1400 for one wall and sure was not going to pay over 2100. for the walls …. I was told I would be contacted by the project manager but that didn't happen after I voiced my displeasure after they came back out and made corrections to the stairs..

We enjoyed working with the team at G&B Carpentry. They were quick to respond to our request for a quote on the work to be done, and were extremely competitive with other bids we received. When the crew arrived to do the work, they were professional and courteous. They explained what they would be doing, and did their work quickly and neatly. I had no idea you could be so neat and work with drywall! When the project was complete they cleaned up the work area and left us with a professional and polished job well done. We would definitely hire them again for other projects.

In the beginning, we had a couple of timing and location mix-ups. But in the end, the owner Lamar has been very professional and overall his office staff has been very accommodating. I have had G&B Carpentry complete a couple of projects for me and I am looking forward to working with them on a few more projects. Lamar sends his guys and out and they arrive on time. I feel confident that I have found a great contractor and very reasonably priced company.

Almost 3 years ago G & B Carpentry did the above work when we were preparing to put our home on the market. My husband was diagnosed a year before with cancer and we decided to sell our home and move closer to our child. We were unable to do the work ourselves and the work done by G & B Carpentry was timely, professional, and expertly done. We recommended them to several friends but failed to get something posted at Angies List. I would gladly use them again.

I didn't begin the work right away, mostly because of the weather. When I called in to schedule, I tried to ascertain how much time, generally, these tasks might take, especially because it all had to be done on that day. Given that a good portion of the work involved the exterior, I was worried about rain interfering with the task. The phone scheduler could not herself provide me with an estimate of time for these tasks but got back to me after asking the production manager for advice. She also told me that I had to provide her with a list of all the tasks I had in mind in advance, meaning that if the tasks I had listed were accomplished in one hour, then that would be it--the deal was for UP TO 6 hours, not 6 hours guaranteed. Plus, if the work went over 6 hours, then I'd have to pay $60 per worker per hour. (Wow! I've never made $60 an hour in my life & I'm a professional with advanced degrees!). It is hard for most people to estimate the time these tasks normally take so I was somewhat perplexed about how to organize them. Very nice man with excellent skills showed up on time. I was worried about the rain that was forecast & how that would affect the completion of exterior work. The first task--the front door--took longer than I and he expected because of the door lock. We had to call the company for instructions. Additionally, time was taken up by his going to Home Depot to purchase the door sweep & some lumber to repair a deck slat & a bad area of rot. Fortunately, I own a lot of tools & hardware & could supply some long screws for the door adjustment. I'd advise prioritizing tasks so that those that are most important get done first. The wood rot around 2 exterior doors was done last & I was left with bondo on the rot. It had to dry but since it was raining, it took a while. I had to sand it down the next day & I'll have to paint it. If he had started this process first, then turned to other tasks while it was drying, he might have been able to complete it with a hair dryer before the rain started. Still, he did get everything on my list done & he did go beyond what I expected on a couple of things. He was extremely competent, even gifted. And he did put some time back on the clock because of the unexpected problems with that entry door lock, which was not his fault. Yes, I would use them again and plan to. My son had used them for his house and recommended them to me. My main suggestion would be for them to give customers a ball park estimate of the time it might take for a professional to complete the tasks on their list, with the caveat, of course, that sometimes unexpected complications could arise & affect the estimate. My other suggestion would be for customers to have a prioritized list of everything you would like done, making sure your main concerns are addressed first before the rest of your wish list. That way, once 6 hours has passed, you can have them stop without concern.

G&B did a great job on our siding repair! They showed up on time for the quote and work. They were also very reasonably priced. Their office manager, Andrea, was very professional and super responsive. We would use again and would recommend to anyone.

All in all I will use them again. The process was a little bumpy at first -- i have never hired a carpentry company and was solely reliant on what i found here at AL. Basically it's 50 percent to start, and 50 percent upon completion. Lamar came out to figure the estimate which i got next day or so. I reviewed, accepted, returned a signed estimate, and it was a few weeks before I could get on the schedule. I asked front-desk Andrea about signing a contract and was told that for 'small' jobs they typically do not document a contract. I really suggest they come up with more comprehensive general terms of service agreement that they offer everyone, or that they print on their estimates, to cover both parties. Renovation was about 4 weeks to completion. After demo then I was not on the schedule for week, and we had Thanksgiving holidays, so work slowed for a week. During this time the rotted floor was fixed and the new framing was put up to house the tub. Meanwhile I asked for (and Casey put in) more 2x8s running perpendicularly to the floor joists to support the bigger tub. Plumbing was modified to fit the new tub. After thanksgiving, and particularly after December 1st, things started really clicking -- floor down, tub fixtures done, toilet and vanity reset (my originals, not new purchases), drywall done, and painting done in a matter of 3-4 days. Last thing was the ceramic tile, which took an afternoon. Casey's response time via text or call is excellent. The team members each stay his own lane. They clean up after themselves--daily. I bought the guys pizza and that day's crew was SO diligent about cleaning up their trash that there was no proof pizza had ever been delivered! It does take a while--longer than my naive self would have expected. Crew members were driving from Gallatin to Ashland City and understandably work at my house usually didnt start til 9 am. Your experience might be different if you're closer to Gallatin. Crew members also have same-day assignments in other towns too, so they have long days. As to access, we used a realtor's box so the construction members could let themselves in my house.
