"Hi Max, Thanks for your review. I am sorry that you and I see things differently, the facts are you called me out to do an estimate on May 24th, I brought one employee out with me that very morning at 10:19 am CST shortly after the request. We measured a front-set and back-set of staircases. You told us you weren't going to do the front porch at that time. I gave you my estimate, told you that we were very busy. You said, " your estimate is too high, my last railing I had done a few years ago in another state, was much lower" I explained that metal has just gone up A LOT, along with everything else. And that I was using heavier grade and thicker metal and showed you pictures. I also mentioned that I could use a thinner and lighter metal for a little less money. You said that you wanted a thicker richer look. You then asked if I would give you a cash discount which I said sure I like you & want to help you. You said you would think about it and get back to me. About a week later, you called and said you wanted me to do the job and when can I come out and get the exact measurements and get started ASAP. I brought another employee out, took careful measurements, wrote them down, and sketched the layout, then you wanted me to add the front porch. It took about 2 hours with two people, so that's 4 hours of billing time. Also at that time, I took your half deposit and put you ahead of other customers. You said you still did not want to do the front porch yet. I turned down another customer that afternoon because I could not do both jobs. Then I went back to the office, and I spent about 5 hours sketching out the design and getting the bill of materials together. At this point I'm billing at approx 9 hours, this does not include the first trip with 2 people for the free estimate. This is why I charged you the amount of money that I did. On June 8th you asked if I would be willing to add the front porch for an additional $2500.00 which was also lower than my estimate. And I agreed. Then on June 11th, you told me that your air conditioner was about to go out. the HVAC company said it would not last more than a month, they estimated approx $10k. you said " But we are shopping around. it is possible we will go with wires for the rails or even just simple wood railings. On June 11th the HVAC company came back to recheck the pressure on the unit and confirmed it will not last more than a month. So we do need to channel this money to this expense as much as we want your quality, I'm going to have to go with a cheaper option." When I returned the remainder of your money, you asked if I were a Christian, I replied yes, and you replied God will get you for this. I said Max sorry that you feel this way, and I hope you will realize the amount of time I put into your project. Sorry for this problem that you have had with your HVAC. And the bad feelings you have towards me. Sincerely, Richard Arnold."
