I took my Stihl chainsaw to Deals in March because it was dying when it got hot. It started ok and would run good , except when you let off the gas after it was hot, it would die occaisionally. Deal's put new everything on it and rebuilt the carburator. They also told me it had water in the gas. It cost $90 to fix. When I went to use the saw a month or so later, it was still dying when hot. I needed the saw over the summer so I did not call them until July or so. I told two people there over the phone what it was doing and my wife was going to drop it off. She took it in, they took it out back, started it, cut a piece of wood, and declared it ok. Of course the first time I used it it was dying when it got hot. I called them again and took it back down. I called them to find out what was wrong and they told me the piston and cylinder were bad. I asked why they put $90 into the saw when the piston and cylinder were bad. I also asked if they checked the compression in the beginning and they seemed clueless. The owner told me to bring it back and they would check it out. After a week I called about it and they didn't know what was up with it but would find out and call me. After another week I called again (since they never called) and they said I could come and get it. Their final solution was that since it had been so long since their initial work, that they were not responsible for putting $90 worth of work in it even though it had a bad pision and cylinder. Now that I have gotten it back, it will not start!! Before it would start and run, but would die sometimes when hot. This place is very unprofessional!! They are unresposive and don't seem to know what is going on. When all I wanted to know was why would they put new parts on a saw that had a bad piston and cylinder, they just blamed it on me, saying it was something I had done since they supposedly fixed it in March. The reality is, it was doing the same thing I took in for them to fix in March. If I had known the piston and cylinder were bad I would not have spent $90 on the saw. It is a simple thing to check compression. I think they just put as much into a saw as they can and hope nothing else is wrong. Most of the people on the front desk seemed like they didn't really know what was going on most of the time. I will never go back!!
Description of Work: They rebuit the carburator and put on new air filter, spark plug, and fuel filter on my Stihl MS 250 chainsaw. This did not resolve the problem so they did nothing else to it except supposedly check it out. They found it had a bad cylinder and piston.
