DO NOT CALL HIXON! My husband and I purchased a home in Oct 2021. Because the home was 18 yrs old and one area of leak was identified during home inspection, we opted to contract Hixon Roofing of Aiken, SC to install a new roof and ensure that the area identified during the home inspection was remedied in the process. The cost was $16,400 plus we paid an additional fee over $600 for gutter guards that we purchased and provided. The work was done November 17 and 18th. We were at our Iowa home at the time of installation. When we returned on Dec 31, we immediately checked the attic area off of the bonus room where the leak was previously. It did not appear that the affected area had been fixed although the roof was covered in new shingles. They did not install the gutter guards in spite of the fact that the had been paid to do so. We called Hixons. They left a pallet in the driveway with partially used roofing materials and destroyed our landscaping. They sent someone out on Mon, 1/3/22, to  fix the area of the roof that had been neglected at the time of installation. They sent someone that same week to install the gutter guards and pick up the pallet of roofing materials. On Fri 2/4/22, we received the first rain of any consequence since we had been here. We checked the bonus room attic area and water was running into the area in three different spots over electrical wires and down between the walls onto insulation and the garage ceiling. I took a quick video of the leaks. I texted Tyler Hixon of Hixona Roofing. He assumed me in text that they would fix the drywall as soon as the roof leak was fixed. He sent out an employee who observed the area an did a cursory examination of the roof. The employee they sent said,  I see a lot more that they did wrong than they did right. His name may have been Anthony. Later on Friday, David Hixon Jr. and Jeremy (project manager for our new roof job) came out to inspect. I showed David Jr the leaking areas as well as the collateral damage caused by the leaks. I showed him numerous other areas that concerned me. He assured me they would take care of fixing the collateral damage as soon as the roof leaks were fixed. On Sat, 2/5/22 David Hixon Sr came to fix the leaks. A man just strolled into our house, no knock, no doorbell. It was David Hixon Sr to fix the roof. After about 1.5 hours on the roof, he announced it was fixed I asked him what the plan was to mitigate the water and drywall damage. He said that was bit their problem. I was floored. I expressed my concern about mold, wet insulation, and the fact the garage ceiling now has huge water stains. He said, It will dry out I was very upset. On Mon, 2/7/22, I paid $75.00 to come and take moisture readings and provide an estimate for the cost of water mitigation and repairs for damaged areas. They provided an estimate and took many pictures. The estimate is over $2400. My homeowners insurance deductible is $2500.On Thurs 2/10/22, I paid a licensed roofing professional, $199.00 to conduct a comprehensive roofing inspection and provide a written report of the condition of our 2-month-old roof as well as an estimate to correct those items that were bungled by Hixon Roofing. His estimate was over $3,000. On Fri 2/11/22, I emailed Tyler Hixon asking them to cover the cost to make the roof right as well as to mitigate the water damage caused by our new roof. I did not receive a reply. On Tues 2/15/22, I sent a text message to Tyler Hixon asking for the courtesy and professionalism of a reply. I received a response stating, because you have let another roofing company on your roof your warranty is void and we do not agree to pay any bills. We paid for lifetime shingles and a 10 yr labor warranty. I guess the warranty is only as good as the integrity of the company
