Reeves crew replaced my roof on 5/29-30/2016 and left some contractually included work associated the chimney camp and adjacent wood trim on the roof undone. The crew damaged back gutters, gutter screens, sections of vinyl siding and wood trim. Aware of their high level of activity and the high outside temp during this time I avoided making my first call to complain until 6/3. After un answered or return calls made on 7/5, 7/6, I did finally talk with Donna who agreed, at my insistence, to send Ernie out to look at the damage. I waited for a response, after resending photos of the damage that I originally sent to Robert in early June. I called again and talked with Donna who apparently had taken no action, promised me that she would talk with "the right person" and get back with me by end of the day (on 8/16). I have attempted to talk with Donna on 8/16, 8/18/8/19 and either the phone is un answered or reception answers and Donna is always busy but will call me back ;-) I've just tried again today, 8/22 and calls to Donna (the main number 864 574 1290) go directly into answering machine--message box is full.......I just want my home back in the condition it was before this reckless roofing crew visited my home and the work agreed by ReevesConstruction is completed. CUSTOMERS BEWARE OF THIS CONTRACTOR--THEY APPEAR TO, AT BEST, TO HAVE PROBLEMS, AT WORST THEY MIGHT BE __________ -- you fill in the blank! Robert Day, 864 878 1040
"Roofed 11-2013 so sorry you waited over a year to tell us this. With the amount of work that was involved and the specialty work and then the add on of the out building. this is the first we have heard Ken"
Reeve’s was replacing my neighbor’s roof back in the Fall of 2012. Ken Reeve’s Jr. who was running the install came over to our house and asked if we wanted him to look at our roof. We did, and an insurance claim was placed, approved and a new roof was scheduled for install. The roof was completed in Dec. of 2012.
At this point, all was good. However, there were early signs, as we could never get them to send us a copy of our roof warranty even after repeated requests. Within the first year, after a heavy period of rain we noticed some staining caused by water leakage. We called Reeve’s and a technician was sent out. We were told it was an isolated incident and not due to leakage in the roof – something to do with the heavy amount or rain. We requested, Ken Jr. come out to view and discuss with us. Ultimately Mr. Reeve’s (Ken Sr.), came to our house to review the situation.
We were given the same story, and our mistake was we settled for the explanation. The staining was visible, but it was something I felt I could paint and cover. By the way, the warranty was finally sent to us in November of 2014.
Fast forward to December of 2014 - with the heavy and constant rains this Fall/Winter, the situation re-occurred and got much worse. I called Reeve’s 2-3 time right before Christmas but no one returned our calls. I e-mailed them right after Christmas (from their website) and actually heard back from Ken Jr. Conveniently, we were told that the warranty ran out earlier that month and that they had no record I called and left messages. I questioned this and reminded them that they had been to our house for the same issue within the first year. I wanted him to come out and meet with us and view the problem again. Immediately, I received an e-mail from Ken Sr. that he would handle the account from that point on.
From this point, late December to the end of February I have not been able to get anyone from Reeve’s to come and meet with me to discuss the situation. Their stance is it is out of warranty. My position is they came out and witnessed the situation while in warranty. A warranty it took almost 2-years to receive.
Maybe even more frustrating, is the lack of total common courtesy and service. Even if you have no intention of fixing the problem, even if I was wrong (which I am not). To all but refuse to meet with a former customer, to reply to e-mails and voice mails and not show up to schedule meeting, really confuses me. In an industry where, referrals must be very important, it seems an odd way to do business.
In my experience, I caution anyone who is considering Reeve’s to consider it long and hard. Good up front, but not someone you will want to have to contact if a problem arises. I can document much of what went on, and there position for anyone who might be interested.
"[member name removed]'s Roof was installed on 12-1-2010 and came with a 2 year warranty. We re-sent his warranty papers out as he requested. At the end of warranty. I am sorry we can't fix his roof outside of the warranty. we at reeves work very hard to make our customers 100%"
Main roof replacement went well, once started. Worked through the week-end to complete the jub.
I'd definitely consider contacting them for any future roofing needs.
