Description of Work: From the go, it was a pleasure to do business with BLYTHEWOOD HEATING AC AND REFRIGERATION. Dawn set up our first sales appointment with Sales representative Shane during my first call for two days later. He evaluated our 1500 square foot one story house built in 1937; it was originally heated with coal, then with a gas unit. This old duct work, originally designed for heat, was then modified to use with 1998 gas package HVAC system and really was not properly designed. Shane met with us to make an initial estimate, then returned at our request to make specific total house load calculations; in between Dawn and Shane spoke with us by phone, he returned for a third appointment to do a room by room load calculation. | |The co-owner Charles came on site to evaluate the house layout for duct work and thermostat design options as well as evaluate options for placement of the supply and returns. Charles and Shane reviewed, explained and answered all of our questions, exploring all options for new supplies, returns, duct work and how we could relocate the new unit. Originally we wanted to get a 16 seer, but got the 14XL seer since we had to replace duct work. We also got the Clean Effects filtration due to ongoing renovation and health reasons. | |During the famously hot Columbia South Carolina heat wave, 100 degrees, Dustin and Tim built and installed the new duct work, assisted by others, including Chris who built our new return. Charles made a referral which we followed to get an opinion about options with crawl space insulation and moisture issue. We made a change order to add removing the old vapor barrier after the first day. Over all the installers handled the job extremely well. We had one misunderstanding between us homeowners and the installers, about the location for the gas package, as it was being moved to a different side of the house. This issue was immediately resolved to our satisfaction. All staff were professional and courteous. The work site was totally cleaned and all old equipment removed. | |We are very comfortable and love being cool inside our home during the heat wave! The thermostat is set at 78 degrees. And Shane helped me program the new Trane T824 Thermostat for automated settings 7 days per week. | |We are totally satisfied and highly recommend BLYTHEWOOD HEATING AC AND REFRIGERATION.

Description of Work: diagnose issue, replace thermostat

Description of Work: They repaired 3 units that were not working at all or were not working properly. They had not installed the units but contacted the manufacturer and were able to get some parts that were under warranty even though the installer had not registered the equipment. | |They were very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. The only thing that I think would have been better is come to do the work sooner. Since I had one unit that did work properly, mine was not as urgent as someone who had only one unit. Once they got here, I could not have asked for better service.

Description of Work: Add Freon, replace capacitor, check out system

Description of Work: estimate on a new air conditioning unit. Will be installed on Thursday. I will come back and write another review after the job is complete. But so far Charles is a very polite, professional man and trying to do whats best for us with the budget that we gave him. He wanted to make sure we understood everything and had all the appropriate materials with him.

Description of Work: Whole system replaced with duct work. professional and courteous, kept their promises. a bit expensive, but you get for what you pay. I would recommend them and plan to use their services again in the future.

Description of Work: they came out and just did a routine check on the unit and i purchased a service contract where they come out twice a year and maintain the unit. very polite, on time and respectful.

Description of Work: The co-owner of Blythewood H/AC came within a few hours of the first call. He diagnosed the problem, explained it to me, was extremely conscientious about making sure he did everything by the book and cleaned up after himself. The upstairs AC unit was low on freon. The leak was not detected, but not for lack of trying.
