They didn't show up for their scheduled appointment.  They didn't even bother to call which I thought was very unprofessional.

Came at appointment time, assessed the problems and purchased needed outlet, an wiring.,

Went very well- very responsive and scheduled visit the same day as called; thorough and professional

This wasn't last year or last month, it was less than 2 weeks ago.
The initial call went okay.They were supposed to come out to look at the job and give me an estimate and probably do the work. We scheduled it for 1 pm. He called me at about 12:30 to say that he couldn't make it at 1 pm but will be there at 7 pm. I had already left work so I just hung out at the house until 7 pm. At about 7:15 pm. I called and no one answered so I left a voice-mail. At about 8:00 I called again and no one answered.
Either he had an emergency or just didn't really care. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited for a call back before I posted any negative comments. Well, it's been about a week and a half so he either had a major car accident which I didn't see on the news or just could care less about calling back. My gut feeling is he didn't really care so as a member watch out for those that don't really care. It may not just be about calling back but could careless about other things as well.
The good news is I haven't paid him any money and there are enough good people looking for work. The bad news is I took a day off from work using my vacation time. 
Lessons learned - even though some rated them an "A", read the "F"s first and get the big picture.
Conclusion - You're rolling a dice with this one so use your best judgment. Mr. Simmons Construction, if you died and went to heaven and couldn't make my appointment, my apologies. If not, please let your next customers know if you can't make it whether it's 1 pm, or 7 pm or the next day. Be a professional and don't have them sit around waiting for you with no call back. This town is not that big where the words doesn't get around. I'm sure you know what it feels like when someone schedules an appointment with you and they never show up or call. You can't stand them can you? You can still turn it around. Treat others like you want to be treated.
The $500 cost of service is based on the work I got from someone else. Yes, I got someone else to do the work this past weekend.

They spent the whole day here.  Had to pay extra.  We thought the work was relatively simple.  Didn't need anything new put in, just check outlets, and rewire a room that we had taken a wall out. Will not have back.

I could not have asked for more professional behavior from Kevin and his team. They were on time, organized, respectful of me, my home and my animals the entire time that they were in my home (around seven hours). The jobs were delivered as quoted and done well and faster that I had thought possible. They only left after cleaning up after themselves. I would encourage
anyone to use them for most every project, mine were electrical, and painting, but required knowledge as well. I will certainly use them again.
 
 

The company sent two men out who surveyed the situation and then promised to send an estimate for the job.  However, I didn't hear back from them for about a month, and it was only to say that they had called.  Ultimately, they never followed up with an estimate and never did the work.

It went very well. We had long discussions with Kevin as to the best methods of implementing the soffits and insulation and chimney chases and caps. Kevin was receptive to our input which he communicated to his workers and all the work was performed under our direct supervision as we have insight into the areas which needed repair. Kevin let us know when the rain would prohibit roof work so we could schedule our days accordingly. He and his crew arrived on the date and time he indicated so we were able to do our other tasks accordingly.

All the work was performed as scheduled and within the estimated price range which had been agreed upon prior to the work being performed.

Throughout these activities, we kept a constant dialogue with Kevin involving the details for the numerous tasks as identified which were many and varied.

I would not hesitate to recommend Kevin and his crew for the work performed as noted.

They seem more concerned by the time allocated than the quality of the work. They include the time for 2 people to go pick up the door at Lowes as part of the 4 hours we had bought. i would have accepted 1 person going, but not 2.  that took almost an hour off.  When they removed the old door, they did not pay attention to the ADT sensor on the door. By the time we realized the sensor was lost and we had to pay to get it replaced. Definitively no attention to details.

Poorly.  By far the worst electrician I have ever seen. He left exposed wiring in the attic and he took my portable light and approx 50 feet of wiring. I asked for reimbursement for $100 to reimburse me to repair his work and the taken tools and supplies but he didn't respond. 
Angie List had arranged a meeting date of June 23 at 7 am to correct this work. The day before, Kevin notified me of his coming. That morning as I waited I received a note from Kevin asking for my home address. Remind you, this is close to 2 months later and why he didn't prepare ahead of time in noting my home address, seems like sloppy planning on his part. I texted to his phone# I had, my address and waited. Yet after waiting two hours and he never showed up. So after waiting TWO MONTHS to get this fixed I went ahead and hired someone else to come and fix the problem. Also, to add more insult, when this work was originally done on May 2, Kevin's or his helper took 50' of wiring and my portable light costing $50+. I was hoping I would of gotten those items back. I would be very careful and make sure your tools and supplies you furnished are accounted for when he leaves your home. This overall was a very sad experience.
 The electrician I finally hired 2 months later to fixed laughed when he saw his work.

.  Quality of work was very poor- work had to be done again.  Painting skills poor on the most part.  Not punctual or reliable. The owner is a very likable guy but had an inexperienced and young crew to work with on the most part. Walls and ceilings were not adequately prepped and so had to be painted over several times after painting being uneven.  I really wanted to write a good review but could truthfully not do it.

Kevin was great. He responds promptly and got me in earlier than expected and it was a holiday week with the 4th of July coming up. His two workers, both named Daniel, were very nice and understanding. They did a great job installing an overhead rack in the garage. It was supposed to be an easy set up but it was much harder than expected due to our garage beams being abnormal. They did it correctly and without complaining.

I had several different places throughout the house that needed drywall repair -- mostly nailholes and some cracks. They sent out two techs. There were a couple of places where I wasn't satisfied with the end result -- it should've been sanded down or smoothed out. Other than that, it was alright.

Great communication, showed up promptly for job as planned, pleasant.

I purchased the "Handyman for a day" deal on May 5, 2014.. The first problem was that the contact person/owner Kevin did not call me to schedule the service as stated by the rapid response by May 7, 2014. So when he did not call me, I called him on May 8, 2014. and he immediately started with excuses that an employee of his had wrecked his truck. I told him of things I was interested in having done and we scheduled a of May 19 at 8:00 am. I provided him with my address and he discovered that he was working that day in my neighborhood. He asked if he could come by and look at some of the things to be done. I agreed and he came over. The first thing he told me was that the deal was for 3 hours with two people. I told him I did not recall the ad stating that, but I was fine with it. (I went back to check later, and that was not specified in his ad). Anyway I was fine with that. While he was here, I asked for a quote to do other things. He made notes and told me he would email me a quote. I asked when I could expect it, and he said in a couple of days. A couple days went by and I had not received the quote. So I called and left messages a few times, and even sent an email message through Angie's List. I told him if he was not interested in quoting, just say so and I would get someone else. He finally called me on May 15th, 7 days later, and again started the conversation with him having problems concerning the truck accident his employee had, and he would get me the quote, possibly that night. We reconfirmed the "handyman for a day" appointment again for Monday, May 19th at 8:00 am. As of May 18, I still did not have a quote. At this point I was not overly concerned, as I figured he would just bring it with him to the appointment on Monday morning, May 19th. Well to my surprise and disbelief, at 8:25 am, Kevin was not here and had not called. I called and left a message. He did not call back. I called again at 9:15 am, again I had to leave a message. Bottom line, he was a no show and did not return my calls. Once I submit this review, I will be contacting Angie's List for a refund. I have wasted a day off work for a no show. I am in utter disbelief that someone is trying to run a business in this matter. Unbelievable! After 24 hours, my phone calls have gone unanswered and unreturned. Refund please!!! Never call this guy, it will be like rolling dice if he shows or return your calls.
