Very good work.

We could not have asked for better service.  This team was so thorough and took so much time explaining every detail to us.  They found everything we never wanted to see!  Even my realtor who works with inspectors every day was blown away by the professionalism and time Frank committed to the job.  I was simply amazed it was as if he was buying his own home.  Ultimately I feel we own this team for saving us from what could have been a disaster of a home buying experience.  Two plus hours spent going through every inch of the property well worth every single penny.  Thank you so much- we will be calling you again as our home search continues.

The experience using Frank for our home inspection was excellent.  He was punctual, thorough and professional.  He forwarded the report to me in a very timely fashion which was very helpful in our particular situation.  Would certainly use again. 

This is a year too late, but Frank was the best inspector we've ever had. He was meticulous, and took to the time to show me every detail that could potentially be an issue, and answered all my questions clearly and patiently.

My husband and I were under the gun on this as we were moving from Colorado to Rhode Island and all of our household goods were set to arrive in 10 days. We had found a house that was empty and ready to close immediately and we needed an inspection to seal the deal.  Hearthstone was able to accomodate the short notice.  Upon arrival at the home, the inspector took his time looking over every single aspect of the home.  He was incredibly thorough and even submitted a completed report of the inspection in less than 24 hours.

Overall it went well. John and subcontractor (Petro Oil for furnace) were already on site when I arrived on time at 9:30am. John already completed roof inspection and outside including detached garage and the furnace inspection was already complete, but both gentleman walked me through their findings. John verbally reviewed many items requiring attention that were not part of complete report such as sealing gaps and windows and leveling pitch of yard away from the house. He made several suggestions to save money by doing work myself. He found a few major issues (chimney, electrical) and Petro found a few major issues with the furnace, all of which the seller's agreed to fix as part of the sale. The Hearthstone report was very detailed and descriptive which aided negotiations with the seller.

I received his report via email by the end of the night and the separate detailed furnace report (hand-written) arrived via mail several days later,from Petro, but John included the main issues within his report. The radon test was a bit higher priced than competitors, but it was because it was a digital test rather than the canister test. I contacted approximately 8 other companies and Hearthstone beat them by a few hundred dollars. This home is approximately 1500 square feet (ranch). Other Angie List companies quoted between $600 and $800, and with my 5% coupon I only paid $461 including radon. Can't beat the price for the service. I did email John with a few questions after the inspection and his response was a bit to short to my liking and lacking detail, but he did respond in a timely manner.

We used John for our home inspection.  We had made an offer on an older home and were anxious for the inspection to see if there were going to be any major problems with it.  John was very professional, thorough and made us feel very comfortable with proceeding with the purchase.  We liked that he had a good balance of reality - yes, it's an older home, so there are going to be things that aren't perfect, but he was good at explaining how serious the issues he was pointing out were.  We also did a radon inspection, which he coordinated with the seller's agent since he needed access to the house to pick up the equipment, and also brought in a subcontractor to inspect the ancient oil furnace.  

We would definitely recommend him.

Excellent. Would definitely recommend to friends and neighbors. Mr. Hopton sent me an inspection agreement via e-mail in advance of coming to inspect the house, which was nice because it gave me time to read it.  He showed up on time and was very professional and did a nice thorough job. I also liked how he explained things to me and told me who could fix various problems. He answered my questions, was neat and thorough, and did a great job. I highly recommend him and his company.

John was on time for our 1:30 appointment and promptly went to work.  He completed the full inspection in approximately 2.5 hours.  He was very knowledgeable and answered every question under the sun that I had for him.  He pointed out several deficiencies that he thought may be of concern.  He also took the time to explain easy fixes for other small issues.  His report was emailed to me that evening.  I wouldn't  hesitate to use Hearthstone again!

Frank was professional and punctual.  He actually beat all of us to the house, including the agents!  He will point out all the problems he finds and takes pictures. I had to use him three times because the first two houses he inspected for me had major problems that he uncovered.  That was unfortunate since I had to pay him for three inspections, but he also did save me a lot of money by alerting me to issues before I committed to the deal, so I believe he was worth every penny.

The work was performed by John LaBossiere. John arrived about 10 minutes early and went right to work. He provided a comprehensive inspection of the home starting outside with roof, siding, windows and chimney.  He then inspected room to room including the heating and air conditioning, electrical, insulation and plumbing. He completed the inspection in about two hours and then provided a full summary within 24 hours with pictures of any issues discovered. He left radon testing at the home for two days and when completed provided a summary as well as full details of all the readings during the period. John was very conscientious  and professional during the inspection and provided answers to any questions both during and after the inspection. I would highly recommend this company.

This is the second time that I have used Hearthstone (Frank Hopton) for a home inspection. Frank was already at the house when I arrived that morning. He had also engaged the services of an oil company to inspect the oil heating system that morning, which was included in the price.

Throughout Frank's inspection, which lasted 2 and 1/2 hours, he was thoroughly professional, conscientious, continually providing me with a verbal assessment of his findings, and always courteous and pleasant to deal with. That night he emailed me a very detailed 29-page report, with color photos, with his findings of the inspection.

-Day period.Two days later, he met me at the house to pick up the radon meter, and that same night was able to provide me with the results. On this second visit to the house, Frank took extra time to explain some additional issues regarding flooring tiles on the second floor of the house, and other issues that concerned me. I also mentioned that I would have preferred him to inspect the heating system. He immediately, and very kindly, carried out his own inspection of the furnace at no additional charge to me. 

Frank has always been generous with his time, and continues to reply to any e-mails I send him regarding the house. I am a first-time home-buyer and especially appreciate his patience with my many questions and concerns.

HearthStone Home Inspection was fantastic.  The appointment was easy to setup, and during the inspection Frank (Inspection Export) and Bob (Heating System Expert) provided us great feedback and easy to understand explanations on major and minor repairs for us to consider with the property.  They provided us a 27 page report within 24 hours as they promised.  I would highly recommend Hearth Stone Home Inspection.

Frank from Hearthstone completed a full home inspection and radon test on a home we were planning to purchase. He arrived early and began inspecting the roof and outside of the home. He had an inspector from the oil company come to check the furnace, which I didn't realize was included. He was extremely thorough and took the time to explain what he saw in each area. He made some excellent recommendations, letting us know which deficiencies were very serious and which were less so. As a result of the problems found in the home, we decided not to purchase it. His inspection likely saved us many thousands of dollars, safety issues and headaches. The inspection report was done very quickly (later that same day) and was very detailed with lots of photos. He went back on a Saturday to pull the radon test and emailed us over the weekend with those results. Very dedicated inspector. We will hire Hearthstone again when we find another home we want to purchase. I only gave a "B" on price because I don't know much about pricing for other inspection companies, but I know that Hearthstone did great work and I feel it was good value for the money.

To make a long story short, this company gets an A+ in my book. John was our home inspector, and he arrived at the home prior to my arrival. In fact, when I pulled up he was already inspecting the roof. All I have to say about John is that he is very professional, very thorough, and he is an all-around nice guy. He knows what he is talking about, and his explanations are clear and concise. He even went above and beyond the service that I asked for by inspecting items such as the shed, the refrigerator, etc. His recommendations made sense, and he eased a lot of the worries I had about the house. On top of things, he has a great sense of humor. This makes the inspection process easier. I had a home inspection on a property about a month ago by a different company (Homespek Home Inspection Services), and I can't even begin to explain how much better Hearthstone is than Homespek. The bottom line is that this company is on top of its game. Its inspectors are highly trained, knowledgeable professionals that are genuinely nice people. This is why they have such high ratings on Angie's List. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a quality and affordable home inspection for a potential residence. When we arrived at the site Frank had already there. He started with walking around the outside perimeter of the house. He was very thorough, did a lot of explaining and the entire process took almost three hours. He covered everything structural and mechanical, from basement all the way to the roof and everything in between.

Radon test was part of our inspection and he came back to the site to collect data 2 days later. Our appointment was at 8:30 AM and we got the full report by 6:00PM that very same day. The result was presented very well complete with pictures.  We are very satisfied with the service.

John was friendly and personable, but more importantly, he seemed knowledgeable and confident.

Our inspector was Frank Hopton.  He has a very professional office staff who answer calls and relay messages to Frank (who is mostly out of the office).  On the day of the inspection, he was already at the house before the appointed time, examining the exterior. The inspection took about 2.5 hours and was very thorough.  He showed us things he found as he found them.  He brought another specialist to examine the heating system. 

His written report was available the next day.  It was clear and thorough without a lot of boilerplate stuff we didn't need.  He also did water and radon tests for us.  For those, he came back on another day for the sampling.  But even those results came back quickly. We felt Frank did a great job and are confident we won't find any unpleasant surprises when we move into the house. We highly recommend Hearthstone and Frank Hopton.

We were very impressed with Mr. Hopton, his professionalism and the inspection report that he provided. We chose him primarily because he was licensed, had good ratings and provided an easy to read inspection report. We were not disappointed and would recommend him to anyone needing a good home inspector.
