I've used Hearthstone before, and was very pleased, so naturally I went with them again, and was not disappointed.  As before, they showed up with a team of experts and evaluated the house, an outbuilding, and the various home systems (water, heat, septic, venting, etc.).  They seemed to do a very thorough job and got the reports to me in a timely manner.  Their people were personable and professional, easy to communicate with, and happy to explain their findings.  I highly recommend them.

Hearthstone brought a team of experts--four people--to inspect the home's structure and heating, water, and septic systems.  They also did a water quality analysis and a pest inspection.  All the people were on time, were very professional, took time to explain their findings in detail as well as providing them in writing, and worked efficiently to get the inspections done in less than three hours.  I expect to use them again the future.

I chose them because they had a sample of the home inspection and I liked how detailed it was. They are also highly rated here. There were 2 things that caused me to write this. I don't know if this is what a home inspector does, so if it's not then maybe I am wrong:
My home has indoor controls for heat/cold. John LaBossiere explained how the unit worked and did a 10min test to see if it cooled. He failed, however, to check the state of the filter. which was located in the bottom of the unit (I only found out that it was not replaced for years, after the a/c FROZE overnight and stopped working. Week later, hvac guy came and showed me filter in 30 seconds.). Not only did I not have a/c in summer for a week but that could also have damaged the unit.
I am not going to make a big deal on  a $120 charge, for hvac to come out (still would be nice if they covered it) but also how was not brought up in July when I called John to ask about this issue. He also missed a 3" tear on a mesh on 1 of the windows but it's a small thing.
To be clear: It';s my  first inspection and Ill admit, I don't know much about it or how these usually go. Also he was here about 90min tops, so I assume it was one of the quicker inspections... I spoke with other unit owners who moved in last weekend and their guy def popped filter out/checked, told them what they need and where to get a replacement
I probably wouldn't use them again...

Frank was terrific. Incredibly thorough, patient, and great at explaining as we walked through the inspection together. Just as an example, he tested every single outlet in the house. He took pictures and included them in the 30+ page report that I received in the evening of the inspection day. Frank flagged major concerns as well as smaller maintenance needs that I should take care of. The inspection took about 3 hours in total including the septic, partly driven by the particular house. The time flew by because I was learning so much. He was also willing to answer questions that might come up after the inspection. I had a very positive experience and would highly recommend Frank for your inspection.

Frank and another employer from the company showed up to conduct the home inspection and were a few minutes early. They were professional, polite and very respectful. Frank left no stone unturned when conduction the inspection. By the end of the day we had a very thorough report with pictures as well as recommendations on what are the priority issues to focus on. I would highly recommend this company. Thanks.

Frank was on time (actually a little early) and he had his ladder out when we got there. He did a thorough outside inspection and identified many items of concern that we didn't notice. He climbed the roof and checked the whole roof and chimney. He went inside and worked his way through the house checking the electrical / heat / hot water and he tested every out he could find. He traced wires and checked junction boxes for proper installation. He also checked all the plumbing identifying areas of concern. He check the framing and pointed out structural issues that we have raised to the sellers. 
Upstairs, Frank continued his inspection of all outlets, appliances, plumbing and exhaust again identifying items of concern. All along the inspection he offered advice and explanation of everything noted.
After the inspection was over he had the report which was over 30 pages in my email that evening.

Absolutely excellent! Highly recommend Frank and the Hearthstone company.

Frank was incredibly kind, professional, and patient. He answered every question we could think of and worked with us on accessing some of the admittedly difficult areas of the house (lots of 'obstacles' right now, as stuff is moved around in preparation for the sale). The inspection was far more thorough than I could've even hoped for; finding things I never even noticed in 25 years of living in the house. In addition, he provided detailed recommendations/advice and a comprehensive report, with an incredible level of detail, along with pictures, and further recommendations.

I feel like I should've paid double for what I got here, even without the exceptional service. Definitely pays for itself in ensuring you know exactly what you're getting in a house, and I feel much better about what I'm facing now.

We recently had to have a home that we are considering buying inspected.  We researched inspectors thoroughly because past experiences with other inspectors have not been great; our current house had several problems (including a dead furnace) that the prior inspector missed (!) so we were a bit reticent when it came to having to go through the process again.  Hearthstone changed our minds.
We had the pleasure of working with Frank the owner of the company.  I cannot emphasize enough how impressed we were with his thorough inspection, attention to detail, and professionalism throughout.  So many sites described home inspections as being a brief thing, but he took at least 3 hours to closely examine the property.  He was an absolute gentleman throughout.  He was very knowledgeable and in answering our (many) questions, he was articulate, courteous, and thorough without getting lost in minutiae.
I would absolutely recommend working with Hearthstone.  They uncovered issues that we had missed, but there was no sense that he was trying to make issues out of nothing.  The information was excellent, and we had a full color comprehensive report detailing his findings within a few hours.  The pricing was reasonable and included mechanical, structural, septic, and well inspections.  Many companies need you to find a separate well inspector, but that is not a problem with Hearthstone.  
If you want it done right, this is your inspector.

Brain was wonderful! He was prompt, professional, informative and extremely helpful/patient. I am a first time home buyer and Brian took the time to explain everything to me. If I asked him a specific question or to look at something again that he had already looked at he answered or did it with a smile on his face. He was very thorough- we spent almost 3 hours looking over the entire house. I would absolutely recommend Hearthstone Home Inspections- especially if you can get Brian!

I can't say enough great things about our experience with Hearthstone Home Inspection. They have a professional person that sets up the appointment and when we got to the property, they were already there setting up. They spent a lot of time both inside and outside the house and were extremely thorough going through everything, they didn't miss a thing. They were great to deal with during the process and answered all of our questions. The report they sent (which was delivered shortly after the inspection) is a great overview of all the issues and it helps you understand how to prioritize all the items which is very useful.
If you are looking for a very professional and thorough company to do your inspection, Hearthstone is the way to go. We will use them in the future for sure.

Frank was extremely professional, along with his assistant Brian. They were prompt, courteous and respectful of the seller, and very helpful and patient to me. Frank took time explaining each thing to me that he found of concern. He also made recommendations to me outside of the scope of his report regarding maintenance items that I had questions about. He took photos of all items needing attention. He inspected the home at 3:30pm and it took about 2 hours. He was extremely thorough.  By 11pm, I had the full inspection report and termite report.  48 hours later, I had the radon report. I also emailed Frank several times with questions about items in the report and he always promptly emailed me back within a matter of hours.  Also, the radon test came back high and the seller insisted on a retest and Frank courteously offered to retest the property for me.  I am 100% satisfied with his service and expertise and would recommend him to anyone I know looking for a home inspector.

He was very knowledgeable, on time, and gave me options.  You could tell he put in a little extra effort into the job and came off as very reliable.

Second time now I have had this team do a home inspection for me.  Again, very thorough and professional. Prompt, courteous and explained everything to me. Very organized and detailed in their explanation of what was found and also in their report. I recommend them highly, it gave me a sense of security once hearing their findings to go forward with my purchase of the home.

They were extremely professional and polite. On time. They did an inspection for me on a possible property I was looking to purchase. They were very thorough and let me know everything they found and explained everything to me exceptionally.  They saved me from buying a property that was "riddled" with problems, (mold, carpenter ants, etc). Very worth the money and time spent. I am in search of a new property to buy and will be sure to use them again. Can't begin to thank them enough!!

HThis was the second time we used Frank for a home inspection.  We decided against purchasing a home after the detailed report we received on the last home we were negotiating on and went back to Frank again when we found another home.  Once again Frank was amazing.  Spending over two hours with us going through each and every detail, pointing things out, walking us through and even making suggestions for ways we could fix issues that were found.  Frank is professional and a perfectionist.  We were so pleased with his work and the report he had to us that same night.  Frank even returned to the home a second time when we found something that had not been disclosed.  h spent another hour at the home going back through and making recommendations - and did not charge us again for coming back out (it was not something he had missed but something the sellers did not explain).  He is truly Best in Class

Frank did a great job. Report was finished that night. He found many things I would not had and documented them superbly in his report. I would absolutely recommend hearthstone and would use the company again. Well worth the money.

They were wonderful. They were great. He was very helpful. He kind of walked me through to show me things on what needed to be done and what was necessary; what was more immediate and what wasn’t immediate, and what was a concern for the future. He did a great job and I was very impressed. I don’t really know what the norm on pricing is.
