Response from The Piano Practice
"I'm sorry you felt the need to review my work so harshly. My recollection of this appointment is the following: Price: this was an Angie's List Special Price Deal. You received a 30% discount off my regular price. Quality: your spinet hadn't been tuned in years and I tuned it to the best of my ability. When I left, you were pleased with the results. More importantly, you told me you were keen to get rid of the piano. Responsiveness: you were emailed with details about scheduling an appointment soon after you purchased the Special Deal voucher. Punctuality: I was spot on time which I am for the vast majority of all my appointments. The confirmation-reminder email also clearly mentions the possibility I could be up to 30-minutes late when coming from a previous appointment. Professionalism: I'm not sure what to say other than I am always courteous and professional with all my clients, even those who are close friends and I have known for years. I am confused by the contradiction in the grading and in the comments. You indicate I did the work I was hired and paid to do and that you even hire me again. I would add that this review is far off the mark for the reality of the appointment. I thought the appointment had gone as well as could be expected for the condition of the piano."

Everything went very well. He was perfectly on time and took just the estimated amount of time to tune. Will definitely be bringing John Totter back for the next tuning.

John arrived on time and was very professional and pleasant. My piano hadn't been tuned in probably eight years, and he got it right back where it needed to be. I knew ahead of time that it will require a second visit in about a month since it had been so long since the last tuning.

John came promptly and was careful of our furniture and floors as he worked. He explained what he saw, discussed care going forward, and made recommendations about follow-up tuning (often needed when an instrument is brought up to pitch). We'll have him back soon to do just that, and are happy to recommend him to other piano owners.

This poor guy had his work cut out for him! We have an old Wurlitzer that has been seriously neglected, but once our daughter started to really get into playing it, we knew that it was time. Jon was prompt, courteous and explained every step of process. Nice, nice guy! And good - VERY good at what he does. Would DEFINITELY recommend to others and will have him back again. (And he takes his coffee with no sugar, just a little milk...)

John Totter is a very accomplished musician in his own right. I believe that is a really important attribute when one cares a great deal about their instrument and the care it gets. Additionally, he learned the craft of piano tuning and restoration at a prestigious school which itself has the highest reputation in this field. I would not hesitate to recommend John Totter and The Piano Practice to anyone who values their piano and its upkeep.

John could be described in the following 3 P's: Punctual, Professional, and Piano genius. John is not only a good piano tech, but he arrives on time, is very polite and easy to talk to, and he really REALLY knows his stuff.

Currently he is replacing all of the tuning posts/pegs in our very old and beat up grand and is also working on getting us new strings. I'm so very excited to have a nice sounding acoustic instrument in our high school for professionals and myself to perform/record with.

If anyone on here would like to know more about my experience with The Piano Practice, please feel free to email me at: [email protected].

Punctual, there when he said he would be there. Was finished in about 2.5 hours and even though he did some extra important technical things and had to stay longer to complete them, he did not charge extra for these.
