Mr. Chimney

Was having trouble with flue damper opening. Damper is on built worm-gear. They came in and lubricated it and it works well. They also checked for hornets/bees nest and found none. And they examined slate cap on chimney which leaks into fireplace and made recommendations for repair.

He was on time and very professional.  He was easy to understand in describing our situation, and he and his assistant did not waste any time and got right to it.  He answered all my questions at the end and has a nice demeanor.

They showed up when they said they would, cleaned everything out without making a mess, and even fixed a flue that wasn't operating correctly.

The serviceman arrived on time.  We were prepared to have three chimneys cleaned, however, upon inspection it was recommended that only one actually needed cleaning.
We appreciated his honesty.  He also recommended a couple of chimney caps, we have none and the estimate was left with us with size and material to be used if we decide to have them installed.
We were very please with the professionalism and cleanliness.  We would definately use them again.

Arrived on time, cleaned chimney. Was very clean with no mess after cleaning the chimney even though it was not an easy job. Very pleased with service and price.

We scheduled a time. He was willing to keep in touch with me by cell phone so I could run a couple of errands but head home when he called to say he was on the way. He arrived with another man and the whole clean up took about an hour. They put mats down so the floor and carpet wouldn't get dirty.

Mr. Chimney was prompt in returning my call for an appointment. We set a date and they arrived within the time window we had determined. They laid out a tarp on the hearth and a long strip of tarp to go under their exhaust hose, which is nice because the hose is understandably quite sooty. They do their work by using a vacuum unit in their truck so they have to snake a large accordion hose (like a flexible dryer exhaust). My previous experience with chimney sweeps did not include exterior vacuuming so I wasn't prepared for them to have my front door propped open to accommodate the hose. I had to secure my cats from escape but then everything went very smoothly. The guys did their job and were rolling up their tarps within a half hour. I haven't used the fireplace yet but I'm sure it'll be fine. (If it isn't, I'll be sure to write back with comments.) I was happy with their service and would hire them again. BTW, the owner, Charlie, has an appreciation for painters of the Hudson River School. We had a nice chat about some paintings and lithographs I have in my home.

He came on a day's notice, he was on time, and he did the job quickly for a reasonable price. When I asked whether we needed a chimney cap, he told me the chimney would need work before he could install a cap and that it wasn't urgent--in other words he was honest when he could have taken me for a ride. I wouldn't hesitate to call Mr. Chimney again.

I took a chance and trusted the contractor to pick the sweep, and I was fortunate to have Charlie from Mr. Chimney contact me, very promptly, the day after the contractor called him. As it turns out, I was familiar with his business, as we are from the same neighborhood, so I knew he had a good reputation. He has another guy working with him (wish I could remember his name), and they both run a very clean, efficient operation, with many years of experience. They called ahead to confirm and arrived at the time arranged. These guys were friendly and personable, came in with their huge vacuum hoses and gear, did a professional job, and cleaned up perfectly, all in under an hour. I definitely will see them back for the next cleaning.

Mr. Chimney went really well. Not only did he inform us that our fireplace has only been used a couple of times (and doesnt not need a liner as stated by another chimney sweep) he informed us that we dont need to sweep our chimney every year (as once thought). He did clean the chimney around the newly installed liner (which was never done when the other company installed the liner). Spent over an hour cleaning...great service and very trustworthy!

Making the appointment was fine. They came when they said they would. They didn't make a mess. I'll probably use them again.

They arrived on time, put down protective materials on the floor, cleaned our chimney and fireplace and cleaned up after themselves!

Both of the men were VERY courteous and polite, and very willing to give advice and make sure I understood the wood burning stove and how to work it. When they arrived, they put down tarps so they wouldn't track anything from outside, even though they did the work on a dry, sunny day. They asked if I had any pets to make sure they wouldn't run out the door since the house had to run from the truck inside to the fireplace. Overall, I liked the concern they had. There were a few decorative items I forgot to move on the floor near the fireplace and they placed them carefully to the side before doing the work. The entire job took about 45 minutes and before they left, they explained how to operate the stove, and told me that some bricks on the top of the stove were broken. They told me that they could come back and replace them, or I could go to a stove supply shop and replace them myself to save money. I appreciated that they told me that! I would definitely recommend Mr Chimney - I thought the quality of the work and the advice of the chimney cleaners was impeccable.

It seems he may have recommended some things that we did not necessarily need. It did not seem like they used the most effective methods of cleaning.

Charlie arrived with one of his employees. He even called first to see if he could come earlier than scheduled - I loved that! He arrived, laid out tarps from my front door all the way to my fireplace, moved furniture that was in the way and set things up. He was very pleasant and gave me some great tips as he did the work. From start to finish the entire job took under 45 minutes. There was ZERO mess - but he still vacuumed my carpet anyway, which was a nice treat. I would definitely recommend him. NOTE: Mr. Chimney only takes cash or checks.

Representative persisted even after phone tag, scheduled right away, came when scheduled and performed the work. There was no mess left behind, just a receipt. Great job!
