Please take a moment to read the reviews and you will notice some disappointing themes. An overall rating of 2 ½ stars is too generous. We brought our 7-month old rescue hound/boxer mix puppy in for his initial “temperament test”, which he passed without any difficulties. A couple of days later we dropped him off for his first day at doggie daycare. Within in a few hours we received a call stating we needed to pick him up since he wasn’t “being cooperative” with training. Of note, he did attend to puppy training classes at another facility and did wonderful. Upon our arrival he had a bloody nose, a hemorrhage in his eye, and he was wet. The manager, Kirby, stated they were attempting to walk him with a slip leash and he was resisting, therefore they were pulling increasing the tension on the slip leash. Kirby also noted his injuries were a “NORMAL STRESS RESPONSE”. We contacted our vet who informed us the bloody nose and eye hemorrhage are were most likely caused by a rapid increase in blood pressure related to the extensive tension created by pulling on the slip leash. He was actually choked, causing his blood pressure to rise, resulting in injuries. I called back and spoke with Kirby to try to understand why they utilized such mistreatment to our puppy during training. Kirby stated multiple times they need to teach dogs “RESPECT”. Really? I am not sure choking animals and causing injury teaches “RESPECT”. Unfortunately, I have no “RESPECT” for Alpha Dog. Animals should learn by positive reward, not abuse! I have requested a call from owner Kendra. Five days later and I have not received a call. Obviously, the owner has no concern or “RESPECT” for her customers, or the dogs in their care. Please think twice before leaving your dog at Alpha Dog. I wish we did. Our puppy not only has physical injuries but also the emotional traumatic injuries we now need to overcome. You may want to also read some of the past employee’s reviews on Indeed claiming mistreatment of animals.

WOOF, MY DOG WAS NOT THE PICK OF THEIR LITTER!   BE CAREFUL BEFORE SPENDING YOUR TIME & MONEY They must be doing amazing business and making $$ hand over fist.  They reject dogs that cannot pass their 5 minute temperament test (that costs $10).  My dog is timid and has a long "warm up time".  I am told by groomers and other dog handlers that she is nervous and shakes, then calms down and is fun and playful.   I tried this test about 1.5 years ago and paid $50 for a fecal test at my vet (required by alpha) and than $10 for a temperament test (that took no more than 5 mins - not bad 2 bucks a minute~!!) for the  woman to tell me my dog was too nervous and it is not a good environment.   I basically begged them at that point to take my dog even if it was for 30 mins to an hour a day to acclimate her (I wasn't working much at the time and was able to handle the drop offs and pick ups & I offered to pay for 1/2 day) - REJECTED.  Now, in need of doggy daycare again (having contractors working on house) I called ahead of time and spoke to the receptionist. I called because understandably I don't want to spends 3-4 hours of my time and another $60+ to get rejected again (my dog has not had a personality change!) She reiterated their policy and I asked to have the manager call me They apparently care so much about dogs that they think mine  is better off being crated at my house with 5 contactors  banging away than taking a while to warm up to the other dogs at Alpha Dog.  So Alpha Dog must have so many little doggies that perform well during their temp test the manager/owner didn't have time to call me back!   The person I spoke with called me back and said the manager was too busy to call back, which means that she is making enough $$ w/out my business.  The receptionist also said "we are so busy, we are really busy" at least 5 times during our conversation- that's a good thing right?  I got the point she wanted to get off the phone (been in those customer service shoes before - but you don't keep telling a potential customer "I'm so busy???")...  Glad to see these negative reviews... as I verbally hear positive ones throughout town (from people that must have outgoing doggies).  Good for the owner, they are riding out a good economy, making lots of $$, It will be interesting to see how they do if the economy tanks and they actually are looking for doggies to take.  A hallmark of good customer service is how a company handles customers during a good economy.  Hands down the worst customer service and attitude I've ever seen in any business.  I'll be sure to share my opinion around town!  If you are local, love dogs and want to start a business I would seriously consider it - they need competition.  WOOF, off elsewhere to play with other nervous, rejected doggies

We have been using Alpha Dog for years.  We met the owner, Kendra, 9 years ago, prior to her opening her own business, when she trained our dog as a puppy.  We followed Kendra from her previous job to her new center and wouldn't have had it any other way.  We would not trust our dog with anyone else.
I cannot attest to whether pricing is good or bad as we have never used anywhere else and quite frankly, just would not.  Whatever the price is, it is, because it's where we feel most comfortable entrusting our four-legged family member.  Our pup is a rescue and has some anxiety issues.  Alpha Dog has been wonderful with personal service and attention and accommodating him.  That being said, I think the prices are fair and worth it.
We have always been happy with the grooming services and our pup really seems to enjoy his time there in daycare.  All we have to do is say, "Want to go see Miss Kendra and Miss Kirby" and he is up and at the door.  We get lots of compliments on his coat and how he looks and smells, especially after grooming.
We highly recommend Alpha Dog and have suggested them to any family or friends who have asked.  In addition to all these other great things - they are extremely involved in the community and fundraising.  They truly care about their "pack" and all dogs in general.  I couldn't ask for anything better.

I enrolled my 4 month old boxer puppy in what I was told was their "puppy" training but it ends up it was a class of nine dogs of all ages and with different social issues. There was no socialization allowed. The instructor (owner) was cold and militant. During the training she yelled at me a few times to continue to walk (during the 2nd class) with my puppy around a room even though he was choking himself, gagging and frothing at the mouth. I was only giving him a break. She kept demanding that I shorten the leash and keep walking! His front feet weren't even on the floor! This seemed pretty severe to me. When I got home he had a red mark on his neck where he had been pulling. All her other philosophies seemed just as severe to me so I asked for a refund for the remaining classes. I would have understood if they could only reimburse half of them. But the front staff "Jess" was unbelievably rude. I had met her in person a few times and she was super sweet but when I explained my issues with the class she came at me like an wild animal (I wish I was exaggerating). Seriously. "What are you going to do when he's seven months old and pulls you down the road? Would you let you're little girl do whatever she wanted? If you want socialization you have to pay for our daycare." What?! And this was just a small snip-it of the verbal lashing she dished out. I told her I was shocked that she was treating me this way when I was told this was a "puppy" class. Not boot camp. She would not let up on the badgering. And ultimately told me she could not refund any of the course fee just because I didn't like their philosophy - which she also kept telling me was the only way my puppy would become an accepted dog in doggie society. I am still in total shock at how I was treated. I am thankful in a way that I found out the kind of people who are employed there and am relieved not to be associated with them. What a horrible, horrible experience. If you could have seen the way they treated the dogs in that class you'd never board your dog there or use their daycare. And I love Cesar Millan so I'm not against tough love but this was different and just didn't feel right. If you feel your dog is an object who you want to be the lowest thing on the totem pole in your family then go for it. If you want a friend and companion then go somewhere else.

I have been taking my dog to Alpha for 9 months. There are two sides to this story.
First is my dog's. He seems to have a good time. He's tired when he gets home which is great especially when I need to get work done at home.
Second is mine. Overall, my experience with them has been extremely disappointing.
Grooming: Overpriced and they don't do a great job cutting hair. They offer these different scent packages. The few I've chosen have made my dog stink worse than when I dropped him off. However, it is a convenience, I suppose.
Customer service: About 5 months ago, they called and told to pick him up because he had diarrhea. When I got there, girl # 1 (who had quite the attitude) charged me for a full day (he had only been there not quite 2 hours). Just as girl # 1 gave me my credit card back, girl # 2 at the desk tells me that I don't owe anything because I had a credit. Apparently they had been overcharging me and no one noticed until then. But of course, this girl # 1 JUST charged me (and I paid) full price.
Next, he was in one of their large crates. I noticed the floor beneath him was a bit shiny. Girl # 1 lets him out, he runs over, jumps up and gets pee all over me. They left him there and was forced to relieve himself and did nothing to clean it up.
Needless to say I was done. My boyfriend told me to give them another chance. I did. I gave them many. I won't get into the others. But, I am DONE giving them chances.
I very rarely write bad reviews. But I highly recommend going elsewhere with your dog. There are other places with more reasonable prices and offer a way better experience for you and your dog.
Response from Alpha Dog Center
"With responding to this review everyone is entitled to their opinions -- But the day [Member Name Removed] is referring to was a day her dog was not excepted into the daycare program because vaccines were expired. As for the rest of the comments she has used us multiple times, ALL without a complaint. Then AGAIN came in after this review and we asked about how to make our services better for her after reading her review and she told us "I was just having a bad day that day" - So I feel this is a direct insult to the business and staff who work their tails off to accommodate everyone with ALL the best intentions, love and knowledge we can. We treat every dog like it is our own, we have A LOT of rules and regulations to ensure the safety and trust of our valued guest. We in no way would leave a dog in a kennel with urine around him -- or do a hair cut the same way if she didn't like it -- we are VERY honest and up front with our clients and that's what we thrive on -- Honesty - We are looking out for every dog in our pack, vaccines, cleanliness, and honesty has made us successful for the last 6 years, opinions are one thing, but please come find out for yourselves if all the other reviews on here are wrong --- Thank you"

It went ok. My puppy took to some things and not others. We had barking problems and that never went away.

Paid $10 for a temperment test (see if she played well with other dogs) - took 5 minutes. Would like them to apply this fee to boarding.
Drop off on Sunday morning was very nice. We didn't get a tour of the facility, would have been nice.
Pick up on Wednesday morning was good.
She was happy, looked good and well cared for. Very clean and well maintained facility. Will use again.

They are great, the staff is all first rate, the groomer does a great job, our dog loves to go to day care there and has had great experiences during the two times he has boarded. Strongly recommend them for every dog service you may need... We will take our dog nowhere else!

Our experience has been excellent every time. The staff gets to know your dog by name and is very welcoming to both dogs and people. Everything is computerized, so there is never a mix up with dogs, schedules, etc. Our dog was checked in and taken into the large open area to play with other dogs. For overnight stays, we bring her bedding and food and the staff takes care of everything.
During our first visit there over a year ago, we had to bring her for a temperment test, to see if she gets along with other dogs. We aso had to submit proper veterinary paperwork with vaccinations.During one of our daycare visits, the staff noticed that our dog had some blood in her stool, called us immediately to come and pick her up so as not to sicken any other pets and get her treated right away.
Our dog loves going there both for daycare and overnight stays. We feel the price is good for the care we receive, and never have to feel guilty when we can't take her with us. She loves Alpha Dog.
