WOOF, MY DOG WAS NOT THE PICK OF THEIR LITTER! BE CAREFUL BEFORE SPENDING YOUR TIME & MONEY They must be doing amazing business and making $$ hand over fist. They reject dogs that cannot pass their 5 minute temperament test (that costs $10). My dog is timid and has a long "warm up time". I am told by groomers and other dog handlers that she is nervous and shakes, then calms down and is fun and playful. I tried this test about 1.5 years ago and paid $50 for a fecal test at my vet (required by alpha) and than $10 for a temperament test (that took no more than 5 mins - not bad 2 bucks a minute~!!) for the woman to tell me my dog was too nervous and it is not a good environment. I basically begged them at that point to take my dog even if it was for 30 mins to an hour a day to acclimate her (I wasn't working much at the time and was able to handle the drop offs and pick ups & I offered to pay for 1/2 day) - REJECTED. Now, in need of doggy daycare again (having contractors working on house) I called ahead of time and spoke to the receptionist. I called because understandably I don't want to spends 3-4 hours of my time and another $60+ to get rejected again (my dog has not had a personality change!) She reiterated their policy and I asked to have the manager call me They apparently care so much about dogs that they think mine is better off being crated at my house with 5 contactors banging away than taking a while to warm up to the other dogs at Alpha Dog. So Alpha Dog must have so many little doggies that perform well during their temp test the manager/owner didn't have time to call me back! The person I spoke with called me back and said the manager was too busy to call back, which means that she is making enough $$ w/out my business. The receptionist also said "we are so busy, we are really busy" at least 5 times during our conversation- that's a good thing right? I got the point she wanted to get off the phone (been in those customer service shoes before - but you don't keep telling a potential customer "I'm so busy???")... Glad to see these negative reviews... as I verbally hear positive ones throughout town (from people that must have outgoing doggies). Good for the owner, they are riding out a good economy, making lots of $$, It will be interesting to see how they do if the economy tanks and they actually are looking for doggies to take. A hallmark of good customer service is how a company handles customers during a good economy. Hands down the worst customer service and attitude I've ever seen in any business. I'll be sure to share my opinion around town! If you are local, love dogs and want to start a business I would seriously consider it - they need competition. WOOF, off elsewhere to play with other nervous, rejected doggies
I cannot attest to whether pricing is good or bad as we have never used anywhere else and quite frankly, just would not. Whatever the price is, it is, because it's where we feel most comfortable entrusting our four-legged family member. Our pup is a rescue and has some anxiety issues. Alpha Dog has been wonderful with personal service and attention and accommodating him. That being said, I think the prices are fair and worth it.
We have always been happy with the grooming services and our pup really seems to enjoy his time there in daycare. All we have to do is say, "Want to go see Miss Kendra and Miss Kirby" and he is up and at the door. We get lots of compliments on his coat and how he looks and smells, especially after grooming.
We highly recommend Alpha Dog and have suggested them to any family or friends who have asked. In addition to all these other great things - they are extremely involved in the community and fundraising. They truly care about their "pack" and all dogs in general. I couldn't ask for anything better.
First is my dog's. He seems to have a good time. He's tired when he gets home which is great especially when I need to get work done at home.
Second is mine. Overall, my experience with them has been extremely disappointing.
Grooming: Overpriced and they don't do a great job cutting hair. They offer these different scent packages. The few I've chosen have made my dog stink worse than when I dropped him off. However, it is a convenience, I suppose.
Customer service: About 5 months ago, they called and told to pick him up because he had diarrhea. When I got there, girl # 1 (who had quite the attitude) charged me for a full day (he had only been there not quite 2 hours). Just as girl # 1 gave me my credit card back, girl # 2 at the desk tells me that I don't owe anything because I had a credit. Apparently they had been overcharging me and no one noticed until then. But of course, this girl # 1 JUST charged me (and I paid) full price.
Next, he was in one of their large crates. I noticed the floor beneath him was a bit shiny. Girl # 1 lets him out, he runs over, jumps up and gets pee all over me. They left him there and was forced to relieve himself and did nothing to clean it up.
Needless to say I was done. My boyfriend told me to give them another chance. I did. I gave them many. I won't get into the others. But, I am DONE giving them chances.
I very rarely write bad reviews. But I highly recommend going elsewhere with your dog. There are other places with more reasonable prices and offer a way better experience for you and your dog.
"With responding to this review everyone is entitled to their opinions -- But the day [Member Name Removed] is referring to was a day her dog was not excepted into the daycare program because vaccines were expired. As for the rest of the comments she has used us multiple times, ALL without a complaint. Then AGAIN came in after this review and we asked about how to make our services better for her after reading her review and she told us "I was just having a bad day that day" - So I feel this is a direct insult to the business and staff who work their tails off to accommodate everyone with ALL the best intentions, love and knowledge we can. We treat every dog like it is our own, we have A LOT of rules and regulations to ensure the safety and trust of our valued guest. We in no way would leave a dog in a kennel with urine around him -- or do a hair cut the same way if she didn't like it -- we are VERY honest and up front with our clients and that's what we thrive on -- Honesty - We are looking out for every dog in our pack, vaccines, cleanliness, and honesty has made us successful for the last 6 years, opinions are one thing, but please come find out for yourselves if all the other reviews on here are wrong --- Thank you"
Drop off on Sunday morning was very nice. We didn't get a tour of the facility, would have been nice.
Pick up on Wednesday morning was good.
She was happy, looked good and well cared for. Very clean and well maintained facility. Will use again.
During our first visit there over a year ago, we had to bring her for a temperment test, to see if she gets along with other dogs. We aso had to submit proper veterinary paperwork with vaccinations.During one of our daycare visits, the staff noticed that our dog had some blood in her stool, called us immediately to come and pick her up so as not to sicken any other pets and get her treated right away.
Our dog loves going there both for daycare and overnight stays. We feel the price is good for the care we receive, and never have to feel guilty when we can't take her with us. She loves Alpha Dog.
