Dave Schwartz gave us a very prompt quote, then modified it slightly to include stump grinding (at no extra cost). His crew showed up exactly when scheduled, did the work very professionally in about three hours, with no damage to wires surrounding the tree that was removed (about a fifty foot tree). All debris was cleared away and all work was done as agreed. And - the cost was about $200 less than another bid from a firm highly ranked on this list.

The job went very smoothly. They made removing a tree of this size a lot easier than it looked. David Schwartz got back to me right away when I called on the phone and was able to make an estimate and perform the job in a matter of a week. His team was extremely professional and careful. They were able to preserve a new fence that we had put in very close to the tree.
David Schwartz is also an excellent nature photographer and has his work posted on the same website as his tree/landscaping service.

I contacted two tree services and Mr. Schwartz was very much on the same page as myself with his concern to keep as much of the trees as possible and retain some aesthetic balance and shade. The other company wanted to cut everything out. My main objective was to have a safe tree environment but retain as much as possible. I appreciated his attitude toward the trees and environment. Since I live in another state I have not seen the results but he was prompt and my tenants are pleased. Everything was cleaned up.

The job took nearly an entire day. The team removed and chipped all branches so the yard was tidy afterwards. One long hedge was trimmed back nearly six feet and looks beautiful. They refused to cut a rhododendron back as low as I wanted it because they said it would look awful for too long, and I needed to take it in stages over two years. They were right!
We had a very bad storm a few weeks later and all the old trees held up just fine - no big downed branches. If Dave's team hadn't done their job right, I would have been in trouble.
The yard now looks even more charming, and refreshed. Nothing is empty or awkwardly cut. You can't tell a crew took out tons of branches, all you know is it just looks so much better.

My initial call to their service was returned within minutes. Mr. Schwartz was on time for the estimate and gave me a thorough explanation of the work they would perform. He demonstrated expert knowledge of trees and landscaping. He also mailed me proof of his insurance coverage prior to performing the work as I had requested, and called the night before the job was scheduled to confirm they would be there. He did a beautiful job and the trees look fantastic. There was no mess left whatsoever. This is a totally professional company and it was a pleasure to deal with them.

The job went perfectly. Mr. Schwartz came promptly when promised and professionally completed the job in a safe manner. Any tree branches, etc, left behind were carefully cleaned and taken away. Working with him was a pleasure. You can NOT go wrong with Schwartz! I will definitely use them again in the future! Thank you Angie's List for hooking me up with them!

The best way to describe what you get from the company is "a hard day's work". I cannot believe the amount of stuff these guys accomplished in one day. Totally professional and courteous. Take the time to explain what they are doing. Seven trees needed major trimming. Each one was over a structure AND had power lines next to them. They worked like a welled oiled machine. Safety first. They also pulled out a number of bushes and ground down not only their stumps but other ones the previous owners had just left. There was a tight squeeze in one section for the grinder and one of my down spouts was smashed. They told me about and were out the next day with a new piece and fixed it. Can't say enough about David and his crew.

David Schwartz was great on the phone, and offered a lot of very helpful advice.
After his visit to the property, he gave me a lot more excellent information and advice on how to proceed with the work. I quite liked his style.
I'm planning to hire him in the coming months for one or two days of work to get started on taking back the property from the overgrown vegetation.

His attitude from the beginning was quite rude. I understood that he must be very busy and was happy that he came only a couple days after I called so I overlooked his attitude at first. His estimate was extremely high and when I commented on it he described all the work that would go into taking out the tree. He sounded very knowledgeable and I'm sure that his work would be quality work. I also asked about keeping the wood and he grudgingly gave me another estimate.
Needless to say, I will hire this guy no matter how much he knows about trees or how good his work is. I'm willing to pay for quality but not to be treated so poorly.

"Last Sunday we were hit by a major hurricane. We have been straightout trying to contact customers and get as many jobs done as possible. I have been completely exhausted. I am sorry that the member took my exhaustion as rudeness. That is not the way that it was meant to be taken. As Far as the price, I own neither a crane or a log truck so I must rent this equiptment. We are more interested in saving trees than taking them down.We are very qualified in removals and have the experience to do them quite well. Removal firms specialize in removals, and to many of them, removals is all that they know, so every tree is a removal. There is more to the practice of Aboriculture that doing only removals. As arborists we must be able to accurately evaluate a property to bring out it's best potential."

Mr Schwartz set up an appointment to go over the job. He gave me several recommendations on the project as well as some advice on future care. He is extremely knowledgeable and willing to give me several pointers on making the area look better. His estimate was in the area I expected and the work was done for that amount. Very pleased with the job and will use his company for future projects.

I left a message with the company on a Sunday afternoon. They returned my call the next day to gather all relavant information. Later in the day I received a call confirming what it was I was looking have done while they were at my home and I was at work. David said that they could do the work and the neighboring tree "would still look like a tree." I liked that the look and health of the tree was as important to him as was doing the work. This showed me true quality, experience and expertise on his behalf. They estimated that they would be able to do with the work within a week but it was done within 3 days. I did not even know the work was done until two days later because they did such a good job cleaning up after themselves. I was billed within a weeks time. The entire experience was easy front to back.

"I will talk to my men about the coffee cups and water bottles. In terms of lateness, the member was scheduled for the second job of the day, and the first job ran over. In terms of cutting the wrong tree, it was a lilac shrub that was declining that I offered to renovate at no extra charge. There were 2 declining lilacs, and my men renoved the wrong plant. I apologized to the member and offered to provide a 5-6' replacement. No local nursery had a plant of this size. The largest that I could find was a 3 1/2' plant. The member was displeased with both the size and the form of the plant, so I started making further inqueries. One local nursery had them, but they could not be dug until the beginning of July. I ordered the plant. I called the nursery yesterday and the plant has been dug. I have scheduled the installation for this coming Saturday July, 16. We make maximum effort and try to do everything possible to keep our commitments."
