+ -1 moreAfter we called for the estimate, we tried to schedule service. I have called four times now and not received a response. THe job we would like done is considerable, I would think this company would be interested in making money, but apparently not.
Description of Work: We called for an estimate to take a tree down in our backyard. The estimate came out to be $1430 which seemed reasonable for us.

+ -1 moreI took the day the work was scheduled off from work and waited for the workers to arrive. After over 30 minutes passed from the agreed upon time I called Chris and asked him when they would be arriving. He then informed me that a bigger job had come up and they wouldn't be coming to my house that day. He apologized profusely and promised to call within two hours to reschedule the job. He never called back and I still need the work done. An update: NE Tree Service eventually showed up and cleared the trees. They haven't completely finished the job yet, but at least the trees have been cut and much of the mess cleared.
Description of Work: I called North-Eastern Tree for an estimate. A man named Chris met me at my property and gave me a fair quote for the work I wanted done, the removal of four trees, removal of same and stumps ground. I liked his demeanor and the company had good reviews on Angie's List and in general. I told him I had one other company I was going to interview and that I would call him back. But after thinking about it a day I cancelled the other interview and called Chris to tell him North-Eastern Tree Service had the job. We agreed they would do the work on April 4.

+ -1 moreI called the company. The phone was answered by a human, no waiting or and quot;on-holdand quot; ... was told a person would come either that same day or the next. The person came that day, told me the basic cost was $350. The next day 4 guys with big truck and shredder came by and took care of the hanging limb and cleaned up as much as possible since the ground was covered in a foot of snow the other limbs on the ground. Process took about 2 hours. The price seemed a little expensive but fair considering the need to fix the danger to neighbor's property right away.
Description of Work: Removed a large branch that was hanging from a tree after the blizzard. The branch was hanging directly over my neighbor's driveway and could have caused a lot of damage. They also removed and shredded other large and smaller branches that came down as a result of the blizzard.

+ -1 moreOne was deader then a door nail that was about 30-40 feet high, the second one was 95% dead. They did a really good job. I told them I wanted to keep the wood and they stacked it up nice for me. They grounded the stumps where I can not see them anymore. I recommend them to my neighbor who is extremely frugal and he is going to use them.

+ -1 moreAbout the third week in May I interviewed three contractors, all with excellent (and justly so) ratings on Angie's List, using the same parameters. They were intelligent and certified arborists, answered questions I had and offered useful additional information. They costed-out the project's components (above). Joe, the rep from North-Eastern, made a few excellent suggestions which increased modestly the cost. He met the $100 discount from a competitor for any job $1000 or more, which resulted in two equal bids, but N-E's bid included the extensive crown cleaning (as opposed to a very light pruning) of the pin oak--and that alone was a big job. The next day we agreed on the details and price, and the job was scheduled to begin in a week (May 31st). The job started exactly on time (actually 15 minutes early, 7:45 a.m.). Joe introduced the three workmen, we walked and talked through the job confirming what came down or stayed, the "look" of things (what to expect), and agreeing to let another friend cut and stack some of the birch, Norway maple, and pin oak limbs and haul them away in his truck. The three workers were cordial, hardworking and coordinated as a team. They left about 4p.m. after cleaning up pretty meticulously, including sweeping off my backyard neighbor's deck. Not a twig in sight. The gentlemen put into the chipper underbrush and pruned material from my own trimming and yard cleaning from the previous two weeks. N-E has my highest recommendation, and I'd go with their professional services again and without hesitation.
Description of Work: The job was fairly large with several distinct components. 1) Give three crabapple trees on the curb border a crown cleaning to clear the telephone and cable lines by 2 feet, provide about 8 feet clearance over sidewalk, and keep the individual trees' canopies proportionate and balanced. 2) Cut back to 3 feet an overgrown, scraggly privet hedge along one side (southern) of my driveway pretty much on the property line, and which had become invaded by about a dozen maple saplings (various heights), an approximately 60-foot tall birch (taller than my three deck house), a mulberry tree (about 20 feet), and a dying mimosa (my neighbor's, who was glad I offered to remove it); the trees were cut to the ground. Lilac bushes and a type of hydrangea tree per my request remained. 3) Remove a large low limb from my neighbor's huge Norway maple overhanging and almost lying on my garage, plus a modified crown cleaning of this maple above the garage and somewhat over my neighbor's back yard (all with permissions gladly given). Some of the work to this point was done using a cherry picker. 4) Give a (manual, two workers) crown cleaning of a towering pin oak (100 feet or higher--much, much taller than the 3-family house) which straddles my and my neighbor's backyards (east). These (wonderful) neighbors also welcomed this project, since it would give relief for some years to dead branches and the occasional small limb landing in our yards but also on their roof as well as provide more desired sunlight for a very shaded garden and deck. Areas of my backyard now enjoy more sunlight too.

+ -1 moreThey were good. They did a good job and they were safe. They had to swerve their cherry picker over the neighbors house to get access to a tree. They leaked hydraulic fluid on their house. They did take care of and pay for all of the clean up. They handled it well. The job was great. the trees are gone and they did everything safe. The price was excellent for everything that we had done.

+ -1 moreWe had many estimates for removing the tree and North-Eastern was the best price. They were very busy so we were told they could do the job in December. The tree was still standing so we chose to wait and hope that another storm would cause further damage. We called them back in December to see when they would come and they ended up coming in early January which was fine. The whole crew was quite professional. I watched them take the tree down and it was quite a job. The tree was huge and right up against a fence so they had to work in my yard and my neighbor's. Because of the fence, it was difficult to get they stump down to the ground. The crew left and a couple guys returned later to finish the job. Overall, I was very pleased with the job. The thing I was most impressed with was the care they took with our belongings in the yard. I didn't think to move all the kids toys out of the way and they were careful to move everything out of the way and nothing was damaged when the tree fell.
Description of Work: North Eastern Tree Service removed a very large, old oak tree that was damaged during Tropical Storm Irene.

The job was well worth for what they wanted. I thought it was a fair price and was cheap. They knew we were in an emergency situation and they were very kind about it. They were good.

Actually this was the result of a hurricane in August. One could not get a tree guy then. They were so busy. So I just waited and I cleaned what I could and they came in and did the rest.

+ -1 more. On October 14, 2011, Chris, an aborist from North-Eastern Tree, came to my home to give me an assessment and estimate to remove trees that were very close to my house. As opposed to earlier estimates, his assessment called for fewer trees to be cut and at a substantially lower cost. We agreed that the work would be done on 1/23/2012. Several days before the 23rd., he called to say the workmen would be at my home between 1:00 and 2:00 PM on the 23rd. On the 23rd, he arrived several minutes earlier to introduce me to the person who would be the foreman on the job. Three additional workman arrived at about 1:15. They started immediately and cut and chipped until dark. On 1/25/2012, three workmen returned at 11:00 AM, as Chis said they would, and they completed the cleanup. I have many perennials, shrubs and trees near where the work was completed; none were damaged by North-Eastern.
Description of Work: Removed an approximately 12" in diameter branch that over hung my home; removed an approximately 16" leader that was leaning toward my home: and removed an approximately 30" in diameter tree. They removed all wood and debris and left little trace they had been at my home.

+ -1 moreI do not remember how I found them. I tried using them this year, but I guess I will be using them next year. They are very good. They show up and do the work. I think their pricing is reasonable for what they do. I spent $300 the last time I used them. They have done work for me in the past and each time I have spent about $300. I think it is a good price. I prefer to use them because they have a reputation and do decent work. The people that come out are okay. I would say they are okay. The trees are holding up well. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used North Eastern Tree Service, two years ago. I needed a tree stump grounded down and some trees around the house trimmed so they would not touch the house. Also, there was a tree hanging over a garage.

Other companies had a 3-5 week wait. They arrived to do the work as scheduled (I was not home). When I arrived home, I inspected the work, noting that they did a good job cleaning up and only minor damage was done to my lawn (the only way to access the trees was through my back yard). It had rained for a week prior to the service, so I expected some damage, but overall, it was not a big deal. I'd recommend this company. They were also one of the lower priced services.
