Initial work was good, however the roof has since developed a leak in 2 locations and the gutters are starting to come apart. We have called them over 25 times over the last 4 months and not once did they answer the phone and only once did they return our call. We explained to them the problems and they said someone would come out to investigate the problem. That was a month ago and still no one from Willow Grove Roofing has come to check out the roof problems. We even sent a letter registered mail, but they wouldn't accept it. They gave us a warranty when the roof was replaced but they seem to be unwilling to honor it.

Everything went well. They were very good about letting me know the various options and costs before the job. They were always on time (for some reason, some of the roofers I contacted could not even turn up when promised for an estimate) and did a good job.

We had roofing and siding work done on our home in October, 2008. Willow Grove was one of the few companies that returned our calls, answered our questions, and gave us a reasonable estimate. The work was done very well and efficiently. After completion, we had several problems with roof leaks, and they were responsive and kept searching for the cause of the problem until it was solved. We're happy to say that we have not had any problems with leak since. The exterior of our home looks wonderful! What a change from the way it was!

I told the story above. We did not go with this roofer because the company never got back to us -- to this day.
Response from WILLOW GROVE ROOFING

"We apologize for the lack of personal response to this potential customer and are happy they found a capable roofer in the area to help them. We are a family owned company and try to give every customer the attention they need in a timely fashion. We are surprised someone would post an F grade when we've never had anything more than a phone conversation with them."

Called several roofing companies.

1. Willow Grove roofing was one of the few who actually got back to me. Seems most contractors are too rich or busy to respond to your inquiries these days. They were very flexible and able to come out and look at our situation quickly.

2. John took a look at our main roof and let us know that the roof looked in good condition. He didn't see a roof issue and said it looked like our chimney needed some work that his company didn't really do. I appreciate his honesty. We are still working on getting chimney contractors to come out and look at that one!

3. He gave us an estimate for fixing our small porch roof. Water comes off the main roof through a down-spout, and then drains along tar on the porch roof. He suggested replacing the down-spout (that has hole in it), an putting a flashing or drainage pipe along the porch roof. Estimate was close to $500, which was a little more than we wanted to spend on a small job like that, so we just bought our own drainage pipe and put on ourselves. Probably not as solid or professional, but got it to work.

Would definitely call again.

I did considerable research on roofers and this company always came out near the top. I sent them an RFQ for putting on a replacement roof. They prepared the best and most complete response and agreed to all my terms. Unfortunately they were much higher than the final price I paid to another company. You can't go wrong with the quality that this comapny offers. My mother-in-law called them for a very small repair. They came out and fixed the roof and wished her a merry Christmas and did not charge her for it. This is the type of people they are. They did a very good job on my neighbors's roof.

I called Mt. West on multiple occasions about the original leak and newly discovered leaks in the eave areas. After the new roof was put on, it was discovered that water was leaking into the eaves from multiple locations near the front and rear dormers. Most of the water leaks stayed hidden from view in storage closets located under the eaves, except for the leak that continued into the ceiling of the master bedroom. Mr. West came out to the property several times with the installer and claimed that there was nothing wrong with the workmanship of the roof. Mr. West had selective amnesia when it came to his prior claim that in order to fix the original leak, the roof needed to be replaced. He was not helpful in trying to find the source of the leaks. I suspected that the flashing around the dormers may be allowing water to get into the eaves. Even though his estimate stated that the old flashing around the dormers would be replaced, the old flashing was not replaced. Willow Grove Roofing installed a new cedar shake roof right over the old flashing. Mr. West said that the old flashing was not accessable during the re-roofing, which was not true. Mr. West walked away from my job without solving the problems. He became rude and disrespectful in the course discussing the possible source of the leaks. His 10 year guarantee on workmanship meant nothing. Mt. West finally referred this matter to an attorney, as he did not want deal with me personally anymore. He refused to replace the flashing, but instead, thru his attorney, suggested installing a rubber vapor barrier at the base of the dormer walls and directly over the step flashing. After consulting with other roofers, I decided that this was not an acceptable nor, a recommended option. It was at this point, that I gave up on Willow Grove Roofing. The roof continues to leak in the exact same place as it did before Willow Grove Roofing installed the new roof, plus in those additional areas. Also, the copper gutters have started to pull apart because of sloppy soldering. I have recently hired another roofer to fix the problems that Mr. West refused to solve. In summary, my main complaint is that Mr. West from Willow Grove Roofing told me that the only way to fix the leak in the ceiling of the master bedroom was to replace the entire roof.. Since the leak was not fixed by doing the work the Mr. West recommended, I believe he was being dishonest with me in order to get a large roofing job. Or, at the very least, he was not thorough enough in investigating the true source of the leak, before recommending an entire new roof. Mr. West became defensive about the workmanship and was not cooperative or forthcoming in trying to solve the problem.
Response from WILLOW GROVE ROOFING

"Angies List Complaint. I would first like to apologize for any inconvenience the member had/has to face. It is certainly not our intention to make difficulties for our customers. The roof that we replaced on the members townhouse was one of over 60 roofs that were replaced by Willow Grove Roofing in the Willomere townhouse development. All of the roofs that were replaced were no longer viable roofs and had to be replaced. The members roof had to be replaced. Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue with the original leak. The leak originated in an area of the dormer where the siding meets the flashing. Willow Grove Roofing was not contracted to remove or replace any siding at this property. There is nothing wrong with the workmanship of the roof. We had/have offered to remove the siding and fix the area and install new siding at an additional cost because this was not in our original contract. It is unfortunate that this matter has not been resolved in an amicable manner. We stand behind our workmanship 100% and will fix anything that is directly related to our workmanship. Sincerely Per Hagen Office Manager"

We were so relieved and so happy to have found Willow Grove Roofing. They helped us get out of a very bad bind and they did it with ease. They salvaged a lot of the material we paid so much money to the original contractor for, and used this and other material they brought to make the new roof straight and correctly set, and the replacement roof properly placed down. We thought they were very professional and very courteous the entire time they were here.
