2. I'm having them return to renovate a shed and paint.
"Thank you for reading. We are a local company, This has happened before that we have been mixed up with an IL company. thanks again."
I had a little bit of trouble communicating with the owner - he responded to all of my questions via email and often responded to only one question when I had asked three. The work was all scheduled to be performed on Monday, July 9. That morning, the electrician arrived and did a great, efficient job of replacing the outlets. I finally called the office in the afternoon and left a message asking when the other work would be done - received an email the following day saying that they'd be out on Thursday. They did arrive and complete the job on Thursday. Plumber did a great job installing faucet/showerhead. Painter was ok - not the greatest job I've ever seen, but okay.
The work ended up taking less time than was estimated, and the owner indicated that he was going to look for a window close to the size of my broken one ( I think this was to save me money by not ordering a custom made window - which I greatly appreciate). He also accomodated me by quickly sending me a revised invoice and allowed me to pay part in cash and part by credit card.
For the most part, the work was very good. Not showing up for all work on the scheduled day was a slight inconvenience, but it would have really irritated me if I was working and had to take off a second day. No question I would use them again, but would try to communicate via telephone for more clear, concise info.
Work went extremely well from start to finish.
DO: provide service on Saturdays!
For nearly 2 hours of work, we were charged only $89.00. This is our second experience with Reliable Handyman. Both have been excellent,
Joe Humli the owner of the company could care less about the quality of the work or the satisfaction of his customers. Good luck getting a hold of Joe, he might return your call if you are lucky. A poorly managed company and it starts with the lack of leadership. Save your money and find another company.
"This could not be further from the truth. The project was started by another contractor and for some reason is no longer there? The homeowner wanted to supply his own materials and stated the materials would be waiting for us in the living room. they were not. That made us a little uncomfortable. We do not typically finish jobs started by another contractor but it was an Angies list costomer so we decided to proceed. The first day the homeowner changed the scope of the job, almost doubling the amount of crown to be installed. That our company had also purchased. The home owner was informed that additional materials were needed to continue with the project, they were not provided. After a week of providing Labor and Materials, I did not feel comfortable continuing until are invoices are paid. Thank You for reading."
The only reason why I gave a B for quality is I found a large puddle of water near the copper pipe repair. I called Joe and he had Stanley come out to fix it. I bought some pipe and had it fixed with one long piece instead of a patched in piece. I found Stanley to be very nice and he knew what he was doing so I hired him to do some carpentry work the day he came to repair the pipe.
I think Reliable Handyman is a well run business with good workman. I plan on hiring them for a third job soon. I would like to add that the 3 hour coupon of $119.00 for 3 hours of work to be helpful and appreciated.
"Thank you for the feed back. i willtake all ponits under advisement. Please if there is anything you are unhappy with, contact me immediately. It is difficult for me to resolve issues for customers, with my employees or within my company after 6 months or more. Thanks again."
"It is true that the installation of this tile did not go smoothly; the customer had purchased a glass and stone mosaic which comes from the manufacturer on a sheet. The customer did not like how they were manufactured at different thicknesses (meaning that they were up and down randomly). The customer asked the installer to remove some of the glass tiles and replace with stone. The tile is designed to look that way, I saw the pictures of the installation it looked beautiful. Oak trim was used to match the existing to cover the spaced in the mantle and the hearth. Standard practice is to remove all debris from the job site it may have been overlooked if there was tension between the home owner and the installer."
There was a phas II to this job that Mr. Humli estimated to be about $3800.00, but based on what they had already done I decided not to go further.
"I would like to thank this customer for taking the time to leave feedback on Angie’s List for our company. I would like to address some of the issues that they mentioned in the above statement. Budget was always a big issue and removing the wall paper before painting was not going to be possible. The home was a rental property and was not very well taken care of. After removing the carpet from the stairs we notice that a tread was cracked which may not have been felt with padding and carpeting on top. The broken glass upstairs had been cracked prior to our arrival and the window for the bathroom had never been operational we needed to bring it to the shop and repair it and then bring it back to the property to install it. The paint cans we left were extra paint for the home and should be kept on site. All in all she was a great customer and great to work for and I appreciate her business."
