They did a great job and cleaned up.  I was worried because the building is old but they build-up areas that needed backing.  The building looks great now and complies with the local historic building codes. One wall was above the neighbor's roof, they took care to cover the roof, keeping it clean.

The entire experience was very positive.   The showroom was great and the sales person was very helpful and knowledgeable.  The installation was very thorough and precise and the installers were very personable and responsive to my questions.   They completed the work to my satisfaction and were very neat in the process.  They took great care to clean up after the work was completed.    I would definitely recommend Chapman to anyone looking for a positive and professional experience with door and window installation.

The doors were not installed properly. One of the door slabs does not lay flat, so I've had to add weatherstripping to keep the outside air from coming through. Also, the bottom of the door lets in water during a driving rain, so I've had to keep storm doors on the outside to keep my inside floor dry.



Chapman installed the door unit almost ten years ago. I called them back shortly after installation. They came back twice and were not able to correct the problems. I've contacted them twice since with the same result (one of these times they did not get back to me). They charged me a fee for the last service call. In my opinion, the right thing to do would have been to reinstall the door unit shortly after the initial installation so the door slabs fit properly.



I thought I was purchasing a premium product, but it didn't work out that way.


Update - Chapman Doors and Windows was very responsive in correcting these issues. Mike Chapman installed new door slabs and made some adjustments to the threshold and the weatherstripping, and now the doors fit properly. He also replaced one of the sidelights which had a air leak. The company kept me informed throughout the process as to when the new doors would arrive and when they could install them.

Overall, it went well.  I think the door was a good value and is of good quality.  I haven't had any trouble and it looks very nice.  Here are a couple of things that could be improved:
Communication - you pay 1/2 before the installation and they told me 2 weeks to order.  It was 6 and I called them to get status - they didn't call me.  When I called they said it had just come in so who really knows.  
The sales rep and installer never told me they were putting a new piece of molding around the door.  That is great and I have no problem with this but if they had told me in advance that this was part of the process I would have known I had to patch the nails and paint the molding.  Again, just communication.  Also they left some of the label on the door and it was dirty.  They should remove this and clean the door before leaving.  
Otherwise good experience.

Chapman Windows and Doors is a very high reputable business. The showroom is outstanding and all the people are so informative, cordial and very professional from the sales people, administrators to the measurer and the installers. Their product merchandise is top shelf. I was so very pleased with the quality, selection and the recommendations. The installation was superb. Everything went smooth and the whole job was completed in one day. I highly recommend Chapman and will use them in the future.

The installers really took their time in installing the door carefully, even taking care of water damage from where the old door had allowed water to seep into the framing.  They also installed anew door bell just as we wanted it in a different place from the old one, and their cleanup was perfect.  A+ for the install.

It took longer than we expected to have the door installed. They had mixed up our phone number and never contacted us when the door arrived in their warehouse.Once that problem was solved they worked to install our door as soon as weather would allow. The installers had to return to correct a few issues but did so promptly. There were a few bumps but all in all it went well.

We had a badly deteriorating patio french door that needed to be replaced. We first visited the Chapman Doors showroom. The staff there was very helpful as we looked at the door options. There were a couple of styles we were very interested in. No one would talk price in the showroom, so we scheduled an estimate.
When the Chapman representative came to do the estimate for replacement door, we also mentioned the leaky skylight. He assured us that the glass could be re glazed, and the skylight and frame would not need to be replaced (which would also require disturbing the roof). We were very pleased at this news.
The estimate came a couple of days later. The door was expensive, but we were somewhat prepared, since we had decided to order a door with in-glass blinds, and no-maintenance interior and exterior material. We told them to order the door.
This all occurred in April. The door did not go in until July because of east coast weather. There was a delay initially in scheduling the work, and then it had to be rescheduled twice because of heavy rain in the area. Finally, we had a clear forecast. We were told the installers would be at the house at 9 a.m. When they hadn't shown up by 9:30, I called, and was told they were a minute away. They came at about 9:35, and apologized for being late. I was surprised that the work was done by sub-contractors--another door company. This was not explained by the Chapman representatives. However, the two installers were very professional, and seemed competent and skilled.
They reglazed the skylight first, both because it was on the shadier side of the house (the weather had gone from rainy to extremely hot), and to give the glazing time to cure before they left. NOTE: WE JUST HAD OUR FIRST HEAVY RAIN SINCE THE REGLAZING AND NO LEAKS.
The lead installer discovered that the new door was too large to go into the existing opening and that he would have to cut back to the rough opening. This required that he call the showroom to order some new molding for inside the kitchen. He also said this would enable him to insulate around the door more thoroughly. He finished up close to 3:00 p.m.
The new door is very attractive, and we like the built-in blinds, which help with the strong sunlight we get on that side of the house, as well as giving us some evening privacy. It also opens and closes much more easily that the old door.
Overall, it was a good experience, and I would recommend using Chapman Doors to others. That said, I would have liked more proactive communication from them during the ordering process. As I stated earlier, we had some significant rain this spring. I was waiting for a phone call from Chapman about scheduling the installation. However, I had to initiate all the calls. This first call was to see if the door had arrived at their warehouse (Late May). It had, but no one had called. We scheduled; it rained; no one called, so I did; rescheduled. They did call about the second rescheduling, which I appreciated. When the installer was late, I had to call them. I have a customer service background, and I know how important it is to keep your customers informed of progress. These are the reasons I could not give an "A" rating all the way down the list.

The doors were installed professionally and the work was done carefully and with attention to detail. They were neat and answered all of my questions and concerns. The old doorbell would not fit in the space after installation due to the change in the capping but they said they would return to install a new one once I selected a new one that fits.
They guarantee all of their work and comes with a transferrable warranty to a new buyer if the house is sold at a later date. I will definitely use them again for future work.

They arrived punctually for the estimation process, spent time  explaining what would be done and answered all my questions, and quickly emailed the written estimate.   When I asked for further details to be  added to the estimate, it was done immediately.  The installers called ahead of time to tell me when they'd arrive, and came on time.  They were very careful and laid down tarps to protect my floors.   When I  discovered that one of the trim pieces that had been specified in the order was not there, they quickly called the office and confirmed that the piece had not come in with the replacement window.   I noted the areas that had leaked and asked numerous questions which were answered courteously and fully.   Although the remaining payment in full was due upon installation, because the trim piece had not arrived they did not attempt to collect it.   They offered to put the old trim piece back on so the window would look better for the holidays, but I declined, intending to make sure that the underneath sill dried out completely.
That weekend it rained, and upon inspecting the window and sill I realized that rain was somehow still coming in underneath the window in the same places that it had leaked before onto the sill, apparently due to Pella's poor design.  I notified Chapman and spoke to the service manager.  He promised that they would come up with some solution and apply it when they came back to install the missing trim piece.  There were no excuses, no attempt to blame Pella, just an attitude of 'we'll fix it'.   I have every hope and expectation that they will.

The customer service representative was professional and helpful.  The sales people and the installers were pleasant as well.  My only issue is that they had to return several times to address a recurring problem with the door.  Additionally, they told me they would have to start charging for the trips to the house.  I thought this was unnecessary since it was the same problem, and they were unable to fix it.

Very professional.  when they came out to estimate the job, they did some pro bono work when i asked how  to adjust another window not being replaced; he just did it for me.
when they came out to do the work they had several people with them and had to fix some water damage as part of the french door replacement.  the new bathroom casement fit perfectly into the existing frame and was flashed appropriately with not a bit of problem since the install.  we recommend them to everyone considering new windows or doors.
