Substantial amount of water was leaking from clogged pipe of the discharge from air conditioning unit inside home near bedrooms. First guy didn't fix it properly. Had to call them again. Two weeks after contacting this company someone else came and he was not even aware why he was sent to the location. We hope this latest unclogging will work. Terrible experience all around.

We just had McVehil out for our annual air conditioner checkup, and everything went smoothly and on time. We have been using them for years. Our system is getting older, so we want to make sure it is well-maintained. Our tech Jeff went over it from top to bottom and found that the condenser was dirty. Sign up for the annual maintenance and you can save 10% on your repair costs.

Extremely professional and personable. Work was done the same day of service call . Quality of work was outstanding. I am very handy at usually doing my own repairs , but opted for a professional opinion and glad I did. Very impressed with the quality of the plumbing work needed. Also , no mess left for me to clean up. Used them last winter for a clogged outside drain . No one likes to spend money on home repairs , but peace of mind knowing that the work was done now and not when it unexpectedly fails in the middle of winter. Would definitely recommend them.

Everything went fine. I've been using these guys for many years and they are ALWAYS clean, on time and very eager to explain to you what they did and what to expect. Heck, this time they even came a day early. The workers and the office staff are all very polite and eager to help in any way.

While having flooring installed throughout our house, despite our best efforts to sequester our two cats, one escaped down the heat vent in an upstairs bedroom. We could not see or hear her, but called the vet, the fire dept., and McVehil’s after hours, yesterday. I left a message and was immediately called back by Kelly, who said she would call in the morning to see if I needed someone. She did very early and then within maybe an hour, Mark and his coworker arrived. They cut an opening in the duct where the cat had gotten to and was trapped, and the talked us through how to get her out. Dirty, grimy, hungry, but alive and well, our 15-year-old calico was out. Two baths later, and some food, she is as good as new. Thank you Mark and McVehil! I would also like to add that having lived in Washington, PA for almost 29 years in the same house, Mark and others have been out many times for a dead water heater (which was fixed and lasted another 10 years), a dead AC unit, and various, plumbing woes. We have bought new units from McVehil, too, and both the installation and quality have been great. Moreover, they often do the little things as a courtesy or for a very reasonable charge. If you are in need of plumbing or HVAC work, or have an emergency (even a cat in the HVAC system), call McVehil! They are a community resource that we are lucky to have! Thank you! These guys are clowns. I spoke with the owner Mark several times who kept telling me he would be over to address a gas leak. Never showed and will not return my calls. Multiple calls, multiple promises, no results. If you want the job done right and on time, this isn't your company. (Plus... the owner's son blasted racist banter all over social media - great family)

Was unable to find the source of the masterbath leak. Cut two holes in masterbath walls. Claimed the roof was probably leaking. It was not. This photo is of the laundry room ceiling DIRECTLY below master bath. Even related a story about another customer that refused to pay. Know we know why. I left a message at the office and filled out a customer survey. Noone has called but did get an email requesting more details which I returned. But no one has called. Charged 239.95 for service call (59.95) and "look for source of water" (2 hours) 180.00 *was actually onsite from about 10:05 to 11:25, 12 minutes of which was spent writing up the bill.

Had them do some plumbing work that required a small bit of pipe and some labor. Job was done, but I was billed $2800. The old owner is reimbursing me for the repairs, but they wanted a detailed statement of work completed. My bill literally has $100 for miscellaneous supplies and 27 hours of labor. We called 4 times and asked Mark for a more detailed statement. EVery time we cal or stop he's not there and we never get a callback. Just before Christmas my furnace quit working. I didn't know who to call, so I gave McVehil another call. The cost was $190 for after hours diagnostics. Their tech (Josh) stated that it had to be the pressure switch since my furnace is notorious for that issue. He said he could probably get it running until they were able to get a part on Monday. Since it was Saturday and I have a 5-month-old and 2-year old I couldn't risk them getting cold, so I had him come out. He looked at the furnace for about 30-40 minutes and said the controller board was bad. He gave me a quote of $395. I checked the internet and this board was $80 online and takes 10 minutes to change. I am experienced in electronics and IT with over 20 years of experience. It's no different than changing any other board out. I ordered the board and it came Wednesday. CHanged it and nothing was fixed. I called and spoke with Mark and he said they are the professionals and they need to do the work. He said that sometimes you have to fix one problem to find the next. My BS meter was off of the charts, so I called another HVAC tech who runs a professional and honest business. He came in 5 minutes and found the problem. He was done in an hour and we had a furnace. I reinstalled the original board and to no surprise, the furnace STILL WORKS! I emailed and asked for my $190 back since their tech is either an idiot or a con artist. They never responded. These are the only 2 conclusions to draw. The part that was bad was SUPPOSED to be tested and is as simple as touching a voltmeter to it. AVOID THEM!!!!
Response from McVehil Plumbing & Heating

"If you are a homeowner and reading this review please understand something. With things of such importance as your furnace, you can either trust the opinion of a company who has been doing quality work for 109 years or one rogue customer who is "an IT guy". Mr. [Member Name Removed] is not a licensed heating professional. His control board is intermittent, it will fail and when it does he will not apologize. Mr. [Member Name Removed] is "that guy". He e-mailed us is an attempt to blackmail us to get out of paying his bill and I quote "..In exchange I will walk away quietly and not tell anyone about the events. If not, I will leave reviews on every contractor site and all local Facebook pages for Washington County... " Not only did his attempt to blackmail fail, but Mr. [Member Name Removed] is trying to get out of paying the blue collar working class that we all stem from here in the city of Washington. If his true intentions were to let everyone else know how stupid the working man is here, then you must ask yourself why he was using it for blackmail leverage to get money back? Mr. [Member Name Removed] is known to be this kind of customer around town with most of the larger plumbing companies just ask around. The developer who build the housing development where he lived went bankrupt because of spotty workmanship and unfortunately the people that live in that community have had to pay unnecessarily high costs to make their houses right. In that regard we understand the frustration of people on that street to pay to have big work done that should have been done right the first time. Please don't trust every review you read online, very few are legitimate mistakes, others are from people like Mr. [Member Name Removed]. You have to trust us he is "that guy". As far as the details of the furnace diagnostics, he is oversimplifying the issue and it is currently being sent to our attorneys because he is lying and smearing our name in order to get money. If you want to see his true combative character, lets all see the rant he goes on since we decided to respond to his review. As you have for the last 109 years, thanks for your trust City of Washington, Happy New Year and stay warm. From all of us at McVehil."

Jeff came first and diagnosed the problem. He came just 10 minutes after I called their number. He diagnosed the problem and determined that he would have to order the part. He put a temporary fix on so that I could use the toilet over the week-end. Monday I received a call that they had gotten the parts and the price of the fix. Anthony showed up Tuesday right on time and finished fixing the toilet by installing the new replacement parts. He completed the job in a timely fashion, explained what he had done and why, and didn't make a mess. He was very polite and pleasant to talk to. I would not hesitate using the McVehil service again.

The installation of the water heater was completed first with no issues. A job well done.
The whole house filter and bathtub installations were delayed due to the whole house filter manufacturer sending the wrong unit and the tub was the wrong width.
Once the correct whole house filter arrived the installation was completed without issue. They installed a bypass system with the unit that works great.
The faucet, tub and tub surround replacement went well except the faucet developed a pin hole solder leak. We had to call and a emergency visit was arranged. They had to pull back the surround to get to the faucet. It was repaired in a matter of a couple hours after arrival. Re-installation of surround was done.
The overall experience went well. The issues with size of the tub and the leak could have been avoided.
McVehil did ensure that we were satisfied with the job completion.

They were to come to give me an estimate for repairs on a Wednesday in a mobile home. After waiting all day I called them to find out why. I was told they could not get in touch with anyone. They called on Thursday around noon and said someone would be here this afternoon. After changing my schedule and waiting for them for 2 days they called at 3:30 and said they could not do the job. Not a very good company to deal with.

We responded to a newspaper ad for a furnace inspection for $79.95.  We figured we would need a nozzle change; we had changed the filter in September.  My husband watched the inspection; the technician did nothing beyond a basic inspection.  He changed the filter and nozzle and charged 159.90!  An additional $79.95 for a new filter (we buy them all the time ourselves, for a few dollars - and change them ourselves - no skill involved) and nozzle installation?!?  Ridiculous!!!  We will NEVER call this company again and will spread the word not to be tricked by their misleading ads.
