We hired Guardian to install our security system at our Washington, DC, business. The service and quality of the work was horrible. We had cameras and an alarm system installed; it was a relatively large system. They outsource most of the work to various vendors. They could not manage their vendors; what was supposed to take a week took two months. The sales rep did not return calls, and you could never get anyone in management on the phone. Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. We have offices in five markets across the US and have high security at each; we have never had such a poor experience.

Terrible service, predatory business. I was away on a trip, had an alarm go off for hours and Guardian was totally unable to help (turns out the door had blown open in a storm). Then, I had an alarm go off for all of 15 seconds as I left to go to work (didn't beat the away alarm timer out the door), and they dispatched police which stuck me with a dispatch bill. Even worse, they buried a 5 year clause the installer swiped through on his ipad, so they won't even let me cancel unless I shell out thousands. I'd go with literally anyone else

Security coverage was adequate, however --- BEWARE! Don't sign a long-term contract with this company. We moved after 2yrs. into the contract and are STILL PAYING while at a new address. There is no way of getting out of the contract -- We will be paying for services NOT USING for 2yrs.+ which is very poor management on Guardian's part. Their business practices are less than fair.

The contract also serves to protect both the consumer and the provider, by defining services to be provided, rates, terms and obligations of each party. Guardian farms out their work. Spectracom in NJ installed and I have been frustrated and lied to for nearly a year now by them, they promised monitoring of my alarm and honeywell cameras on alarm.com, they have NO techs who are capable of programming, Michael Carvin of Spectracom has NOT provided the promised service, has promised to fix it a dozen times, has not come through at all, and they are trying to hold me to a contract when they never provided the service. I have had NO camera clips since March 14. They also promised refunds and I have not gotten them so I stopped payment. These are totally incompetent people and Guardian will NOT help and they only say I have to deal with Spectracom. DO NOT USE ANY GUARDIAN SERVICE CONTRACTORS! DO NOT SIGN AN AGREEMENT!!! IT'S A TRAP!

She apologized for the issues I had and stated she had looked into my case and found I had been over charged and refunded me this amount. My ex-husband signed a three year contract with Guardian and when we got divorced we left the account in his name although I continued paying through the end of the contract and beyond and contacted Guardian to let them know of the change. When I sold the house, the company made me jump through multiple hoops to try to cancel the agreement (since it was in his name even though I'd been paying it and we had updated contact information years before to remove him). First, they told me that if I sent a copy of my divorce decree (pain in the neck but I did it anyway) showing that the home was in my name, they could cancel the contract. They did not bother to call me back to tell me that the decree would not, if fact, be good enough. Fortunately, I called back to confirm that they had received the paperwork only to find out that the account was still open and that he'd need to contact them directly. (I guess that if I had not called to confirm, they would have just kept billing me). Unfortunately, I then had to contact my ex-husband to have him call them and we then had to sign e-forms that they routed to me that I had to route to him and then finally got confirmation that the account was closed. I originally began contacting them in June to cancel the service however paid through July because it took so long for them to actually agree to close the account. Today I got a call, for my ex-husband, saying that we still owed money on the account even though it was canceled and I paid an extra month. So---the net is, once you sign a contract with them, it is very difficult to close it. I understand that they have policies around these contracts based upon security and ugly divorce situations but my disenchantment with them stems around their lack of follow-up, long wait times for customer service, overcharging me at the end when I had already paid for service unused and the fact that if I had not dogged them for the paperwork proving closure, I believe that the account would still be open. Also, I felt that their customer service folks were snipping and not very empathetic. I would NEVER use this service again and have purchased the NEST system which I am very happy with.
