Linder Construction

It has been a nightmare. He started the first week of June. I had ask he do he patio first because to do the patio he had to use the new driveway. Driveway did not get finished until August. He suggested I rebuild the walls which were not included in the original contract. I agreed. He said he would need to remove 3 or 4 feet of plants behind the wall on the high side of the wall. He destoyed all of the plants behind the wall, approximately 40'. He ask if he could place stone on the street in front of the driveway. I made arrangements with the Borough to do so. We had a heavy rain and all of the stone washed down the street and all across the street. I called to have him get the stone from the street. He said he was coming and never showed. I received a visit from the Mount lebanon police department telling me if i did not remove the stone from the street i would receive significant fines because the police would have the Borough Public Works Dept. do it. It cost me 4 hours of my work and a pickup truck to collect the stone and place it back where it was. The wall was finally finished in September. He said he would mortor the top row of stone. It was not done.



Meanwhile the demolition of the patio left the end of my garage exposed to the elements. When they demolished the patio the concrete crushed a wooden frame built to protect patio funiture stored for the Winter. The crushing of this support destoyed 90% of the patio furniture. My frefrigerator and freezer in the garage suffered damage as well. We have been unable to use the patio this year and had to cancel several of our yearly events.



He told me at one point if I would pay him most of the remaining funds from the contract he would have enough money to finish the patio. He took my money and used it for another project. He has worked on several other projects in the interim. He has promised to come back to work several times and then don't show. He has lied many times and has taken 95% of the contract amount while only finishing approximately 60% of the work.



I had my attorney send him a letter of default and am currently prepared to use another contractor to finish the work. It is higher than the original 2 quotes I received for the patio work most likely due to the fact I am over a barrel with winter approaching.



The front driveway and wall work is good but he also has not completed some walkway work which was included in the original contract amount of $17,000+.



He has been exremely unreliable and untruthful. Please warn other members. I should have paid attention to the review which said he took $1000 deposit from him and never showed to do any work.

Contractor took my deposit and never did the work. He also has yet to return my deposit.

We worked out a price and everything, but due to the weather and so forth around here they were not able to keep up. It was going to be either late July or early August before he could do it. I chose to go with them because, with Linder, it is just the way he talked about his products, works and what he was going to do. He seemed to know what he was doing. He is a small guy. He is not a big contractor, but it seems like they take pride in their workmanship and so forth.

There some scheduling issues to do the work. He is very careful in evaluating the problem and listens to what you need to be done, but did not do any work.

They did a beautiful job and it has held up very well.. I was totally satisfied. They were just great.

I am still waiting for the pouring to take place, but up till now all went very smoothly. The workers were pleasant, clean and polite. John Linder and his workers went out of their way to please. I will post an update after the pouring when I see the results.

They did very nice work. It looks good and they cleaned up after themselves. Plus they were not only the low cost bidder, but they did some pointing of the blocks under the front porch for free. The only negative was that they were a little slow getting to the job, but that was not a problem.

The contractor was reasonable and did a good job. They were on time. The price and the work were good too. We did use their services again and it was a bit more than what we had paid for the first job.

Most of the companies I checked were 50-60% higher than Linder was. My son had work done with Linder as well and was very impressed with the work, so I decided to go with them. The quality of work was good, but we had difficulty having him return phone calls the same day.
