They are reliable and he only ever does the work that is needed. He never over estimates or over charges the job. He really does work carefully and precisely. It usually takes about 45 minutes to look over or clean the chimney. He is really clean and there is never a mess in the house.

Steve said our chimney was in good condition - he noticed a small crack in the fireplace but said it would not harm it's use.  He suggested we close the flue when not in use to conserve heating.

I have a fireplace insert and a piece was broken.  I thought I would have to call the fireplace installer to fix it.  He went out to his truck and got a replacement part and fixed it.  Wow!

Made the appointment on Wednesday., Steve showed up on time on Friday, Fixed  the problem with my chimney cap and gave overall inspection.  Finished quickly and charged me for the initial visit as he had indicated.  Will use Steve as my chimney sweep from now on.  Excellent service by a nice guy.

This is the second year in a row that I have used this service and Steve was right on time and very professional in carrying out his service. I'll be be giving him a call again.

Called late one night to set something up.  was very quick at getting back to me.  Answered all my questions.  I would have used him but I checked the chimney myself which turned out to be really clean.  Will use him for future jobs6-

I found Steve on Angieslist and since he has very good reviews I called him on Monday 11/5/12 and he quickly returned my call the same day.  I set up for him to come and clean my chimneys on Friday 11/9/12 at 9:00 AM and he was here a little early ready to get right to work after telling me what he would do.  Two hours later I am all set for another heating season here in the Poconos

This was a general maintenance call. Steve arrived early, worked thoroughly and even went an extra lap by trying to clean my uncleanable coal stove window. He covered the area around the stove with a tarp to keep the place clean. I'd use him again as long as I am in his service area.

The service performed was very good.

He arrived punctually and explained what he would do.  He proceeded to check the fireplace and free standing stove chimneys.  After inspection from the house, he proceeded to the roof.  Once completed, he informed us that the chimneys were clean and in excellent condition and did not require cleaning.  I appreciate his honesty.  In today's economy, many contractors suggest work that is not needed simply to make money.  Steve could have done that, but he didn't.  I would recommend him and will certainly call him again when his services are needed.
 

I am a local girl and have used Detrick's for YEARS! Steve is extremely
knowledgeable, professional and personable. He is very thorough,
carefully inspecting the chimney inside and out. You can trust that he
won't overcharge nor will he ever do any services that are unnecessay to
inflate price. On some years, he has come to inspect my chimney and
told me that I wasn't even in need of a cleaning that year! He does more
than chimney sweeps! He has also done some repairs to the stove,
stovepipe or chimney itself. This is a local guy that you can really
trust!

The service was excellent. Steve answered all our questions. He was very personable and friendly. He checked the inside of our fireplace, went up on the roof and checked the chimney and told us our chimney and fireplace was ready. His service charge was $50.00 for the inspection. I will for sure use his service again and would highly recommend him to others.

Wonderful and in a timely fashion

Called and left a message...  Returned call within several hours and discussed service (clean & inspect chimney).  Mr. Detrick showed up early and performed all discussed services professionally.  Made several suggestions for maintaining chimmney.  Great service, very nice guy.  Would recommend his services to anyone.

I had called and made an appointment for Nov. 2 at 2:00 pm. Mr. Detrick promptly showed up on time which here in the Pocono's is very refreshing. I found him to be very personable and gentlemanly. He was respectful of our home and was careful to not get anything dirty. He laid down a cloth for any soot that might fall and did a thorough job of cleaning out the stove pipe and the stove itself. Then he went outside and cleaned and inspected the chimney. Afterwards he returned inside to remove any soot that may have fallen into the stove pipe. Then he removed all the creosote and soot from the bottom of the chimney. He left our home spotless. All during this time we casually conversed and it was a pleasant experience overall. I would recommend his service to all.

He was on time and very clean in the way he performed the job. Also did a great inspection of chimmey and flu.Will use him again.

Steve returned phone call and was ready to work next day..showed up on time, did the job and cleaned up afterward...stuck to agreed upon price...no surprises.
