This is the person I would hire if I was willing to pour a lot of dollars into my HVAC system. I had 10 bids for my a/c replacement project. My HVAC situation is complicated: very small attic access, limited air flow, and lots of temperature fluctuation in the house.
Of the 10 bids I had, half did not even look into the attic where the air handler was to be installed and only 1 did an actual heat load calculation! For a project that is going to cost thousands and has to work right, I do not think that was a good start. George Schneider spend a good hour with me really looking at the problem and thinking about how to solve it. His knowledge goes way over my head, but I am without a doubt certain he would fix the problem. This is likely a great contractor to call if you have a difficult HVAC issue like I have (small entry, 3 different levels in the home, and discomfort in winter and summer) and you want to make a true investment in your home. He's not really interested in just getting a job (indeed he said he didn't even want my attic job until later fall because it is too hot). He seems interested in finding a solution to the issues.
Post-script: I did not hire Schnieders but I did hire someone else who started the job and then decided they could not do it once they were onsite for 2 hours with all crew and equipment!!!  Back to square 1 for me so I may end up contacting this company anyway.
HVAC systems are incredibly complicated, expensive and apparently hard to get right. Shop carefully.

I called Steve to get a quote for some duct work repair. He returned my call within 24 hours and explained to me he did not service my area. I totally understood because I live a far distance from his office. He did offer to evaluate pictures of the problem if I were to email him. Later on in the day I emailed him photos of the problem I was having with the duct box and return air vent. Within one hour he responded to my email with a resolution. He also emailed me the approximate price to have the repair done. He gave me very good advice while I continue my search for a contractor to fix the duct work. He was very professional and I would have use him if I was in his service area!

I hired a contractor to retrofit a high velocity air conditioning system into my 50 plus year old home with no prior air conditioning system. The initial contractor was recommended by my neighbor who is in the plumbing and heating industry and highly recommended him based on work he had done in his home. I hired him based on that one recommendation.
He installed a sophisticated system that requires detail and precision as recommended by the manufacturer of the system. He
installed the system in less than a week. After three days of using the system,it failed. The contractor did not make good on the contract and failed to fix the system. In addition, he put holes in walls and floors unnecessarily.
I independently tried to find another contractor that could fix the system but there was no one out there that had a lot of
experience with my system or the capabilities of fixing an existing flawed system. As a last resort, I contacted the manufacturer of my system for advice on how to proceed and they had a piece of literature about how their system was incorrectly installed in a home in my state and the name of the contractor that fixed the system. That contractor was Steve Schneider of Schneider's Heating
and Air Conditioning.
I called Steve Schneider who quickly assessed the problems with the system and provided a solution that would fix the problems with the system. Despite how complicated and technical the system is, I thoroughly understood the problems we had and how Steve would fix it because he took the time to explain it and showed us how he was going to proceed. Because Steve gave us a strong understanding of the situation and great references, we proceeded to hire him. Steve carefully reworked the existing system to the manufacturer's specifications and the system worked.
As a result of this successful encounter, we rehired Steve to complete the install on the first floor of our house. And we have continued to utilize Steve's expertise on maintenance and remodeling projects.
Steve's workmanship is like an old-style craftsman. Installing systems properly requires precision, knowledge, experience and above all, the love of what you do and Steve has all that and more. The first time Steve walked into my home, he could tell right away about the workmanship on my existing pipes and who probably installed my original pipes. He has a real love of what he does and it shows in his work. In addition, he is incredibly neat, from his blue booties to his daily cleanup to his wonderful labeling of pipes. He treats your home like his and leaves it cleaner than when he started, not kidding. Whether doing maintenance work, initial installs, or rework, it is a pleasure having him work in your home. You won't be looking on Angie's list again if you hire Steve.

I contacted Schneider's Heating & Air Conditioning to perform an estimate sometime during the summer of 2012 and I wanted to have my new boiler installed by the end of September.  Steven Schneider came to my residence and promptly provided an estimate by the end of the same week.  His estimate was the best out of the 4 I had obtained.
He recommended a particular boiler that was simpler with less software and from his experience resulted in less maintenance issues.  I agreed and must say that he is absolutely correct after I've been using the unit for 5 months now.  Steven was very professional, down to earth, and trustworthy.  When the work was performed in September, he and his workers did a tremendous job, went above and beyond the call of duty.  They cleaned my basement thoroughly of the all the dirt and black grime leftover by my old oil boiler, which was not their responsibility.  All of the lines, valves, and devices were labeled so I could know what everything was.  The gas line itself was painted yellow, which is a requirement for commercial jobs, however he does so for residential jobs as well.  They capped off and cemented my oil line from outside the house to the inside of my basement and even replaced my old beat up carpeting on the basement steps (with my permission first).
The township inspector came to my home at the end of December and was only here for about 10 minutes.  He had a notepad ready to take notes on what might not have been right.  He didn't get to use the notepad at all.  Immediately upon inspecting the new boiler, he said that he could tell this installation was done by professionals.  Rarely does he see the soldering so perfectly smooth between the copper pipes and joints.  When he left my home, he confidently said "This was a fine quality job".
I'm extremely satisfied with the work that was done and feel I received much more value than what I actually paid for.  Many thanks to Schneider's Heating & Air Conditioning.  Be assured I will contact them for any of my future heating & air conditioning needs and will recommend their services to everyone.

Steve is, hands down, the best contractor I have ever hired to work at my home. 
This statement does not come from a novice, but from a person who grew up in a family that has run a top quality contracting business for four generations.  I moved two years ago into a 20-year old home and have hired several different contractors over that time.  I know when a job is done right, when a contractor is technically proficient in his work, when he cares about the work he is doing and when he is honest.  Steve exceeded all of my expectations in each of these areas. I interviewed three different HVAC contractors for this job. 
I called Steve on a Saturday and he came over the next day to come and take a look at our job. Right from the start, I could tell that I liked him.  He was respectful and polite.  He put covers on his boots when he walked in our house.  Then I showed him our existing HVAC system and that's when I could tell that he really, really knew his stuff and that he really, really liked what he did for a living.  My biggest fear is hiring someone who is just doing the job to get paid - someone who doesn?t really care about the job after it?s done.  After a few minutes talking with Steve, it was so obvious that he loved his job and he knew every technical detail associated with HVAC equipment and installation.  His recommendations were so thorough.  He took his time to review our units and the connections and the duct work.  He probably spent twice the amount of time looking at our system, than the two other estimators combined.  He drew detailed sketches of what the duct work coming off of the furnaces should look like (versus what existed).  He explained the brand of products that he wanted to use and why.  He answered every question that I had completely, without hesitation.   After researching HVAC equipment, the one major takeaway was that the name on the equipment mattered much less than the quality of the installation.  A poor installation job will lead to problems with even the best equipment.  I wanted to best installer I could find.
 In a reasonable time after he looked at our job, Steve sent us an extremely detailed 10-page proposal (in addition, he sent all of the brochures of the equipment he was going to use) highlighting what he needed to do to give us the proper installation.  This included items the other contractors failed to mention, like a new flue liner, exhaust pipe construction and corrections to our duct work.  After speaking to him and reading his report, I knew that he was the contractor that I wanted to hire.
Steve?s price was the highest of the three estimates that I received, but not by as much as you would think given that amount of extra work he was going to do.  My impression of the other two contractors? estimates was that they were simply going to take out the old units and replace them with new ones.  That wasn?t going to be good enough for me.  Steve?s estimate may have been higher, but he was also adding much more value and I believe was giving us a system that would last a long time.  So we hired him.
Steve and his men (Dave and Pat) arrived on the job and immediately began to prep the work areas to ensure that my house would look the same as when they arrived.  They taped down thick paper on the floor, wherever they were going to walk.  They kept their work areas neat and organized at all times throughout the project.  They were set up to do the job right.  They were not looking to rush in and rush out.  After setting up the job areas, they went about their work removing the old system.  Again, they piled all of the old equipment neatly and covered everything so my children would not be tempted to play around with it. 
Steve and his men showed up early every morning ready and excited to work.  They were extremely polite to my wife and children. They took great care of our house and in securing and locking the doors when they were finished at the end of each day.  My wife commented that even the music that was played in the house was nice.  She felt very comfortable when they were there. I know I appreciated that very much and it gave me peace of mind.
 Installing the new equipment took a little longer than I expected, but boy was it worth it.  Every single detail of the new units was installed with precision.  Steve and his men worked clean and in a deliberate manner.  Each day after I got home from work, I would take some time to look at the work that was completed.  Each day, I was amazed at the quality of the work.
All along the process, I had questions?and Steve, Dave and Pat had answers.  They answered each of my concerns as they arose.  They did any extra work that I needed without hesitation (for example, I am getting a new gas fireplace insert installed soon.  Steve discussed the new unit with the fireplace installer and he ran the pipe so everything would be ready to go for the fireplace guy.  No questions asked.).  As the systems were turned on and tested, Steve and I reviewed the existing duct work and we identified areas that needed to be fixed.  He fixed them all.
The final result is an HVAC system that I am proud of.  It may sound crazy, but I show it off to everyone who comes over the house.  The quality of the work is that good. The best part is that we will get to see Steve once a year.  This man knows his stuff and he is very willing to discuss other projects and jobs that I have questions about, even if he is not going to benefit from the advice he is giving.  He is smart, he cares and he is an all around good person.  Without a doubt, we made the right decision.

We have used Steve for the past 4 years and have always been pleased.  The response is quick and the quality of work is superb.  He has managed to keep my furnace running with just simple repairs the past two years.  His estimates are honest and he's a nice guy.  I highly recommend!

This project, and the quality of workmanship provided by Schneider?s, far exceeded my already high expectations.  Steven and his associates clearly love their trade and demonstrate a high degree of pride in the quality of their work.  The final product is one that anyone, layman or HVAC professional, will recognize as fine craftsmanship.   
The entire project lasted about two and a half weeks.  Steven and his associates arrived when they said they would each day and maintained good communication throughout the entire period.  I experienced none of the usual snafus that seem to be an inevitable part of home improvement projects: no miscommunications, no changes in budgets, no damaged property, and no missed appointments.  On the contrary, the process was a pleasant one ? Steven and his associates are professional and courteous and I was comfortable having them working in my home whether I was present or away.  
Throughout the duration of the project, Steven and his associates made a considerable effort to minimize dust and protect our personal belongings.  By the end of the project, the work area was cleaner than it ever was thanks to their fastidious efforts.    
In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend Schneider?s HVAC for anyone who appreciates true craftsmanship and who wants the best for their home.  This company sets the standard for high-quality, professional work in the HVAC field.  In fact, this experience has caused me to raise my own standards for what constitutes a ?great? job and gives me hope that there is a ?Schneider?s? out there for other trades as well.

Schneider's was at my home within 2 hours after my call, and completed the repair in less than an hour. They also gave the system a thorough check while they were there, and explained how to clean the new pump to extend its life.

Steven was by far the most knowlegable and professional of the 3 "A" list companies that we got quotes from.  He clearly takes great interest and pride in his work and is very thorough.  His price was the highest but his solutions made the most sense really fit the project.  I got the impression the others were just planning on putting in standard solutions regardless of the individual problems my situation presented.  We got the quotes as we were expecting to stay in the house another 5 years but a great opportunity came along and we decided to move and therefore shelved the project.  If you have any tricky issues or just want the best quality these are the guys you want to use.  If you want the cheapest price then probably not.  I plan to call Steven to look at my new place (200 years old) about some air conditioning.

They were on time. Everything went well. I had no problems with them. They were great. The price was fair.

Overall experience was good. The technician was very professional and answered all the questions that were asked of him. Price was a little steep I thought.

    I called Stephen Schneider because I was having trouble with my heating and cooling system, and also the air circulation was very poor in many areas of our home.  Stephen came out to our home to do a "forensic"  heating and cooling evaluation.  Together we looked at the various components of the system and duct work.  Stephen found many factors that was leading to the poor air flow, as well as some inherent dangers that existed with the old system that was performing poorly.  This initial consultation lasted several hours, and Stephen informed me that he had to leave but wanted to come back to look in more detail and explain some options in terms of a solution.  He returned and we talked in even more detail and came up with a plan.  He said that he would generate an estimated cost and get back to me.  At this point Stephen had spent at least 6 hours of his time that he didnt charge me for.  Stephen gave me the estimate, we agreed on the scope of work, and scheduled a start date.
    Schnieder and his crew all showed up when they said they would and from start to finish treated my home with the utmost care and respect.  They were very thorough in thier efforts to protect my home from any damage. (They used drop cloths, padded the walls, put down construction paper to protect the floors...)  The quality of work and level of craftmanship was unsurpassable.  Even the little details like spacing of zip ties was done to perfection.  Stephen makes all of his own ductwork in his shop which is almost unheard of.  I cant stress enough how good these guys are!! 
    Bottom line is that Stephen Schnieder is extremely passionate about what he does and it shows in the quality of his work and attention to detail.  His employees are very friendly and neat.  The company as a whole is very respectful of your home.  What started out as a replacement of our HVAC system turned out in the end to be more like a work of art than anything else.  I would recommend this company to anyone and would be more than happy to serve as reference to those who are thinking of using thier services.
    We will definitely be calling Stephen again when we have any future HVAC needs...we will be loyal customers for life.

I discovered water on the basement floor last night and called Schneider's this morning. Because it is a holiday, I didn't think they would be able to respond till late in the week. Instead, Mr. Schneider called me right back and arranged to come by in the afternoon. 
    He came, inspected the heater, spotted the problem, showed it to me and explained it, got my OK to go ahead, and then replaced the pump. Then he told me how I could help avert future problems by performing minor maintenance several times a year.
    Mr. Schneider is extremely professional and pleasant to work with. I have called on him several times in the past and always found this to be the case. I think he is just terrific!

Based on Steve's favorable ratings and customer comments on Angies List, I contacted him to see if he could quote on replacing both of my gas furnaces and A/C units.  Long story short, he was not able to do our job due to his full schedule and the fact that one of our furnaces was shot and needed to be replaced within the near future.  However, he provided excellent advice as I navigated my search for the type of system, the brand, the size, and a contractor.  He returned my vmail on a Sunday and spent all the time I needed in answering questions.  After this call I really wanted him to do the job as he clearly was an expert on HVAC systems, their installation,etc.  Due to his schedule he could not take on my project but still offered to answer any questions I had then or in the future and actually did so on a number of occasions via email.

Steve is a passionate and knowledgable HVAC professional, one who I would trust implicitly with advising and installing my HVAC system.

Steve Schneider called and said he couldn't accept new business at this time, until March, due to contractual obligations.  However, he offered advice over the telephone and went through a couple possibilities of the problem with me.  I very much appreciated his honesty and commitment to his current customers.  He also understood my system and gave knowledgeable feedback.  I would certainly want to do business with this company.

This is one of several jobs Steve has handled for me. A couple of years ago, he also moved a radiator in a tight basement bathroom that was being renovated, and he re-ran the AC vents that cut through that room. He has been maintaining my home heating and AC since I moved to this house a few years ago. My furnace and hot water radiator system are both old. The house dates to the 20’s and the furnace to the 50’s. He has never encouraged me to replace the heater, which would have been more lucrative for him. He is very much about educating the owner to take care of their own system and prevent problems. He does not fix things that are not broken. He takes his time and is very careful. He treats your home like it is his own. He is VERY responsive in returning calls. He shows up when he says he is coming. He explains to you what he is doing and what he is not doing and why. His assistant who works with him is very capable and hard working. They are both perfect gentleman and extremely intelligent!. They treat your home with the utmost respect.  Steve is a craftsman, not just a technician. If you are trying to coordinate work with another person (e.g,, a home renovation), Steve is very flexible and professional in his interactions with others.

Steven spent the time to educate me on how the unit functions and what he perceived to be the problem. I also asked him his thoughts on replacing the unit. He replaced a part on the outside fan, and the unit has performed well in this record heat. Rather than trying to take advantage for a large paycheck (replacement) he gave me some things to look out for and suggested the unit might last another few years. We will definately be calling him when time comes to replace the AC.Positive experience all the way around.

I called Schneider's based upon their excellent rating on Angie's List.  I was quite surprised when Steve Schneider started off by giving me a list of things he wanted me to do (opening up registers and dampers, etc.) to see if the problem could be resolved without a service call.  He then proceeded to clearly explain his pricing and billing procedures in the event that a service call became necessary.

I performed the tasks he suggested, and, after a few days, found that the problem was not resolved.  I then called and scheduled an appointment.  Steve and his assistant arrived on schedule and immediately began detailed troubleshooting.  After checking all alternatives, he determined that the problem was a bad thermal expansion valve.  Since he did not have a valve in stock, he and his assistant cleaned up and said they would contact us when the part was in.

When the part arrived, Steve called and made an appointment to install it.  Again, he and his assistant arrived on time and immediately began to evacuate refrigerant from the unit.  When that was done, he installed the new valve, evacuated the air from the system and recharged refrigerant.  He then operated the system for about a half hour to ensure that the repair had solved the problem. 

He also discussed in detail the physics of air conditioning, and pointed out that while our duct-work was designed for a 2.5 ton air conditioner, our current system was a 3.5 ton unit, and was thus not getting enough airflow (perhaps contributing to the problem he had just corrected).  At my request, he made some modification to the duct-work to improve airflow.  Again, he and his assistant cleaned up and removed all debris.

Thoughout the process, he was polite, personable and professional.  I was especially impressed that he stopped to think his way through alternatives, and that he checked and rechecked everything he did before closing up the system.  Steve has been in the HVAC business for some time, and certainly appears to be a master of his trade.  It was a pleasure to work with him.
