Although the service was good, we were OVERCHARGED for this service. We have a brand new A/C system which was working, however it needed freon since the original freon charge last summer was not full. Marshall's sent a technician right away and he was very professional and courteous, however, their costs were outrageous. Our A/C system is a small 24,000 BTU split system which cost us $1,800 and Marshall quoted us a cost of $1,200 per year to keep it maintained!!!! We are not talking about a full house $25,000 central air conditioning system. We have a small unit to cool off 2 rooms. The $506 charge was for about 2-4 lbs of 410A freon (probably about $60 worth) and for 1.5 hour service call. We feel that a $300 / hour for labor is OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! When we called the Service Manager, he justified the $300 / hour labor charge by telling us that they have new trucks, new equipment, and highly qualified technicians. Companies like Erlich for pest management control charge about $100 for a service call and they also have new trucks, new equipment and highly qualified technicians.

First of all, I want to say I have just learned about this, and as the owner of Marshall Home Comfort, I am looking into this matter right now, and I will be contacting you directly to see how we can resolve this matter to your satisfaction. We have a policy that every customer is to have complete satisfaction , which I personally guarantee. We also have a policy that the customer is to get options up front, to be able to choose the level of service they each want, which also has a price upfront, before the work even happens. This is to allow customers who want a more permanent repair, the option to choose it. Also, our air conditioning service agreement for yearly maintenance is only $11 per month. We definitely never charge by the hour, as it would require you paying more to have a less experienced technician in your home, because it would take longer than an experienced technician to complete the work. I can definitely understand how we would be a more premium investment than a pest control company. Some of the differences that increase the investment needed to be spent with us,is we employ technicians with thousands of hours of training, and each employee is able to pass a drug test and criminal background check. Description of Work: They came to my house for an annual oil burner inspection. I was having a sewer smell in my basement to which Travis( technician) did some testing and found I had partial blockages in my pipes, and my septic tank was full. Travis cleared my lines, and gave me the name of a good company to pump my septic tank.

Glen Dickey Jr. was the sales representative. He impressed us as very knowledgeable regarding heat pump system installation. We had specific requirements as this was not the first heat pump system we had had installed in our home. Unlike the other company estimates we had where they wanted to put in just any system, we felt that he really listened and offered a system that has met our expectations for comfort and quiet operation. The installation technicians were very polite and professional. There were very neat and left no mess. When installation was complete they answered any questions we had regarding the programmable Infinity Controller Thermostat. Glen further advised us regarding optimal fan settings. We have continued to have them service this equipment and are very satisfied with their services.
Description of Work: Marshall Oil Co installed a complete new Carrier heat pump system which consisted of: Carrier Infinity 2-Stage, 4 Ton communicating heat pump (both inside and outside units) with Infinity Controller Thermostat . Also included new tubing to replace 30 year old refrigerant supply line, 3 stage 20 kw electric backup heat strip, Aprilaire 2210 Spaceguard 4" air filter and RGF Guardian Air Treatment System.

I like the company a lot. They were great. The guy was very attentive and polite. He provided a lot of information for us. He told us what he was doing and things we could do better to improve the efficiency of our heater. He described their service plan to us and helped us choose the best plan for us.

We purchased a home that oil heat. The previous owner used Marshall Oil for oil delivery so we just kept them. In January 2012 they came out and performed our yearly maintenance service on our 5 year old Lennox unit. The next day, we had NO HEAT(very interesting when they were out less then 24 hours ago). I called them back and they came the same day. The technician hands me a piece of paper with all my options. The cheapest option was a quick fix for close to $1000 or almost $6000 for the replacement of the entire unit(please keep in mind that the unit is 5 years old). I was simply shocked about the choices this guy has presented me. I told him that I will think about it. before leaving, the technician turns to me and says" you will never call us will you?" he was correct-I never called them and have no intentions to do so. He asked for $125 for him to come out and left. That was the biggest waste of money. The next day, another company came out and fixed the problem right away, without giving me a menu of prices. Please keep in mind that this is not a complaint about oil delivery, but about a service call that went extremely bad. Was this just a clueless technician? I would never recommend this company for any service work. There are plenty others with great reputations out there.

I had a heater that was making noises and not heating my house. I was very impressed how fast Marshall Company responded and had my heater working. The technician cleaned my heater, replaced a part in my ignition system, and told me they cleaned air ducts and showed me what mine looked like. I will definitely call Marshall again. I have purchased a service contract and they are returning to clean my air ducts. And I bought my first tank of oil.
Description of Work: I called Marshall because my heater was broken. Marshall technician Pete fixed my heater at 11pm. Pete offered me options on upgrading my heater to become more efficient, that my old company never offered. My heater was working within an hour and a half of calling Marshall.

Marshall Home Comfort has been my heating company for the 10 years we have owned my home. I just had the technician named Travis out and he was very nice and courteous. Travis serviced my heater, and noticed my ducts were dirty. Travis took the time to show me what was wrong, and he offered options to me to fix my heater and to clean my ducts. I have called Marshall in the past, and they have responded quickly. I always like calling and speaking with Laura who is very nice. I would highly recommend Marshall, and I have to many of my friends.

Description of Work: This heating and oil company is great! In the recent cold snap we had an issue with our heater and called Marshall Home Comfort. They quickly came out that same day and corrected the problem. Our family has been a customer of Marshall Home Comfort for over 10 years and have had great service. We have been in my home for over 10 years and could not be happier with the overall service and oil delivery. Every year we get the service plan's and their technicians come to our home and tune -up the heater and a/c yearly. They also installed our central air condition which has been running outstanding for years. We love it. When they come to our home they are on time and wearing protective booties and are very polite. They are professional and knowledgeable and take time to answer our questions. We also get our home heating oil delivery by them and never had an issue with automatic delivery or running out of fuel. Their staff is able to calculate how much fuel I use and how much I need to purchase yearly. We use there flexible payment plan for fuel oil payments. Its nice to know companies like this are still operating and recommend them to all my family and friends. We used this company because they have a high rating on Angie's list but we have not gotten good service. The first time we used their service we told them we have a very very small (130 gallons) oil tank. They told us they didn't believe us but would deliver the oil anyway. The second time they came out we told them again, yet again we were told we were mistaken. They were very upset when we turned out to be right. The office had the field person check out tank to confirm that we weren't just scamming them. Sure enough we have a super small tank. The drive btw was awesome and made sure they didn't charge us an extra fee because we told them multiple times our tank was small! To top it all off, it took over a month to get a refund of over $200. They do a minimum dollar amount charge on your credit card and then will refund the extra. We had to call multiple times and say "where is the refund". At one point someone said "well there is no evidence that we didn't already refund the money". She acted like we were trying to scam them to get our money back. Then when we called a third time (yes we should have learned our lesson) we were told "we arent going to go out that direction two days in a row". So we called the competition and are having a great experience. We will never use these people again!

While we do not show any customer service records for this Angie’s List user, we were able to go back into our records and identify an issue with a customer that aligns with this review. I am truly sorry that we did not provide the level of service this client expected. We do our level best to accommodate special situations and requests from our customers. We are a 3rd generation family owned company, and customer dissatisfaction cuts deep into our very being. It appears the chief complaint is not delivering fuel when requested on . For customers that call for fuel, we ask for 2 days notice under normal weather conditions. In most cases we usually deliver by the next day after the order is placed. However, Friday January 25 was anything but a normal winter day. The temperatures were well below normal that week and snowstorm was forecast for that day. With a snow forecast I am sure all are aware how there is a rush to the grocery store to buy bread, milk, and ice melt. Many times the shelves are bare. Add home heating oil to that list. We were working 14+ hour days to keep up to the demand for our customers. Unfortunately for the Ms. Walker, due to the previously mentioned conditions, we were unable to deliver their fuel that day. For that I do apologize to the customer and hope they will accept it because our lack of response to them was not because we did not want to. Weather and hazardous driving conditions slowed the delivery process. Based on our records, this client received a “will call” heating oil delivery on 12/20/2012 for 86 gallons. At the time, our deposit system automatically requests a deposit for 150 gallons for “will call” delivery. In the rare case that emergency oil delivery is requested that requires less than 150 gallons, our system issues a balance refund within 30 days of initial purchase. Again, it is excessively rare that a refund is needed, since a standard fuel oil tanks hold a minimum of 250 gallons. Our records show that the customer was credited their refund on 1/17/2013, within the 30-day timeframe. Our records also show that this client only contacted us once regarding their refund. In consideration of this type of situation, we have since changed our deposit and billing system to allow for excessively small fuel tanks, and a faster refund, should this extremely rare situation pop up again. We would welcome the opportunity to change this reviewer’s impression of our company. Replaced Oil Furnace and central air, cleaned ducts added a humidifier
Description of Work: I am on automatic fill for my oil delivery. The gentleman that delivers regular to my home is nice, polite and clean looking. I alerted him when he was here that there was an odor and some leakage and that it my heater was making strange noises and didnt seem to be working working right. He got on the phone and had the office all me. They called and as always are courteous. I spoke with Laura she said she would get someone out today. He (Pete) came over within the hour and found that there was indeed a leak and offered me some options to repair the problem. He also advised that it may be in my best interest to replace the unit and I could speak with an advisor so I could have all the options to make an informed decision. He made a call and the comfort advisor,Jennifer came out gave me options and it was clear to me to replace the unit. They scheduled the replacement for a few days later. They removed the old system, brought the new one in. They wore those bootie things on their shoes so they would not get my floors dirty. The showed up in pressed shirts , clean uniforms , clean labeled trucks. They went right to work , completed the job quickly and were so clean! I have to say from start to finish they treated me like I was their their priority and it was all about me and my comfort in my home. Just great work, great people, great company. Companies today just dont treat as good as they treated me. I wish more companies were like this one! I will continue to use them for oil and anything that should come up. Thanks so much!

There were great as a service professionals came out that very same day and he was were extremely neat and professional the service professional had our heater up and running promptly. We made them our heating oil provider although there fuel prices are a slightly higher I can def. see why as the level of professionalism from there office staff was great. Every one so so eager to help us and make things right will to work with us. I was a bit hesitant to call Marshall at first. I had been a oil customer for years. I felt like going to natural gas was like cheating on them. Fortunately they didn't feel the same way. Glen JR was my sales rep, at the time I didn't even realize that he was one of the owners. I explained what was going on and he just said that if you need whole house filtration, central air is the way to go. I think he still wanted me to stay with oil, but he put together several options so that my husband and I could decide what fit our budget best. We made our selection, they scheduled the installation for the next week, the installers were courteous, on time and efficient. Glen stopped in before and after the installation. He answered all of our questions without being "salesy". They all did an outstanding job. Two days, from baseboard to central air.
Description of Work: We have been using Marshall for years for oil delivery at our home. They were always on schedule and on budget. I like baseboard oil heat, but my sons have allergies and I wanted central air. We knew we would have to have all of the baseboards removed and central air installed. When PECO offered to put in our gas line for free, I thought it might be time to make a change from oil baseboard to gas central air. Marshall removed my 1950's baseboard system, oil tank and burner. They then installed a high efficiency central air system with a whole house filtration system. It was exactly what we wanted, at the price that I needed.

Went in today to inquire about getting our oil tank filled. This is my first home with oil heat and I had no idea what to expect. The 2 working in the office were very personable and took the time to explain how oil heat worked and what I could expect in the future regarding payment plans, discounts, emergency services and repairs. After taking all of my information and giving me the information I needed, I left to discuss the payment options with my husband. I called them back at 3:30pm and they were able to get someone out within the hour to fill and inspect the tank. Everything was very easy and convenient and the staff was very friendly and professional. Will definitely be using Marshall's for all of our heating needs.

I got quotes from 3 companies and they were the only one's among the 3 companies that frankly was willing to talk about their quotes. They came out and did the job neatly.
