Bill visited our home promptly, completed a thorough inspection and explained what he thought would be our best options. He provided acomplete written estimate within one day and we scheduled the job. Mark and Jacob showed up for the work right on time and completed their work on schedule. They were polite, professional and efficient in their work, and incredibly neat. They explained what they were doing throughout the job, and what we should do to monitor the system after installation. We experienced some sound/vibration after they left and called the office that afternoon. They returned promptly the next morning, and quickly identified and remediated the issue to our complete satisfaction. Follow up testing showed radon levels reduced from 66.8 pCi/l to 1.4. Completely satisfied. Thank you Mark, Jacob, Bill and Sandy.

We had a reading of 6.5 on the Radon test. We had WPB install a Radon Mitigation system. They sealed around the perimeter of the basement since we had a floating floor and went with the optional Aluminum down spout outside the house to match the gutters. We were pleased with the work. The system is quiet and with the new Radon test we were down to 0.5.

Description of Work: I called them because they had initially installed the radon system for the previous owner. I was not in a hurry because the fan was still working it just was very noisy thus needing replacement. I was told that a person would be calling me to schedule a date to replace the fan. The person who called was apparently busy with another business venture and had to reschedule twice. When he did come, he was polite & did the job efficiently. My only complaint was that it took quite a few attempts to finally get the work done.

This team of professionals did a great job at a fair price. Everything was explained to me in detail, no surprises. They showed up on time and worked very efficiently. I just got back my post-mitigation report and the house passed with flying colors. Thanks WPB Enterprises for making my home safe to live in, which is priceless!

Bill came out and did a great job walking through our basement reviewing the prior radon readings and drawing out the proposed system. He also explained the process and that additional work might be required if he couldn't draw enough air with his initial approach. He drew in the possible additional parts and showed the two prices clearly on the estimate. Then his team came out about 3 weeks later and installed the system. They came in and did their job and got all the inside work done. The outside portion had to be delayed (we found a wasp nest that needed to be removed first).

Absolutely great. The engineering / design of the system was on target, the cost, which covers both the design and installation, competitive and the installers were skilled, professional and very knowledgeable of their task. I would highly recommend this provider to anyone interested in purchasing a properly engineered and installed radon mitigation system.

I had to have a radon mitigation system installed in order to bring radon levels down to acceptable levels. I got two quotes but decided on WPB on basis of recommendation from a friend. I was not disappointed. The fee was comparable to their peers, they were very professional. Arrived on time, were extremely neat, cleaned up afterward and most importantly got the radon way below acceptable levels . I would highly recommend them. I should point out that due to size of house two systems had to be installed.

We bought our house in Bethlehem, built in 1950, and quot;as-isand quot;in an estate sale, so we had no inspection information until after the sale. We knew the roof had major problems, but were not aware of other major issues until we hired a house inspector. He did a radon test, which averaged 9+ picocuries (or whatever you call them) and spiked up to 12+ over the 48 hour period. I called WPB Enterprises based on his Angie's List rating and the recommendation of a colleague, whose house they had remediated. Bill Brodhead came out (after a several week delay, since he was quite busy) and explored the basement, drew an impressive diagram of the house, and said he would email me a proposal to bring the radon level down below the federally recommended level (4;0). I especially appreciated the handout he gave me listing radon abatements his company had done, with the before and after radon measurements. He sent the proposal promptly and although the cost was higher than I was hoping, we signed the contract. I know a lot of people who have radon readings higher than ours who do not do anything about it, but my father-in-law died in his 60s of a non-smoking-related lung cancer, so I didn't want my husband tinkering around in a basement with radon. WPB's office receptionist was helpful and communicative. They scheduled the abatement (again, a little later than I had hoped, but I took it to mean that they were good and in demand) and two men (not Bill) came out right on time on the scheduled day. They looked at the basement with me, using Bill's diagram, and noted that a small room containing a sump pump was not on the diagram (I had probably failed to show it to Bill). One of the guys (sorry, don't remember names) acted a little put-out, saying that it was a much bigger job than they had expected. I didn't know what to say, but it struck me as a bit unprofessional. He said they might be there into the evening. They proceeded to drill four holes in four places in the basement floor, and installed pipes in a complicated system that was surprisingly unobtrusive. You don't really notice it bcaause they were very skillful at feeding the pipes up the wall and along the ceiling, between joists. The four pipes all joined and then fed the air outside to a central location outside the kitchen window where they installed a very quiet fan to draw off the radon. As it turned out, they worked so efficiently that they were finished by 3:30, when the foreman (I assume) showed me the entire installation, answered my questions, and briefed me on how to conduct the follow-up radon test. They cleaned up completely and I was very happy that it all went so smoothly. Sure enough, the test - sent to an independent lab - showed a decrease of radon to 1,8. Another side benefit has been the increased ventilation and dryness of the basement. I would highly recommend Bill Brodhead's firm for radon mitigation services.

Description of Work: I had a very very difficult job with a crawlspace, a sub crawlspace, regular basement section, and an old 200 year old house. They came over and did an amazing job, very honest, efficient. I would highly recommend their work compared to my neighbors that selected a short term local contact. The reviews on WPB are all top notch, and he's been doing the job longer than anyone in the area including helping commercial/military with consultation. They did a great job with a difficult work. They even came back and allowed me to try a different fan after I researched it and they were real easy to work with.

I am very dissatisfied with them. I did like that the guy came out and did an overall inspection. I then signed the contract with them to do the job and when they were here I hoped for them to do more than what they did the first time they were here. They came back the second time and charged me more. They did not give me a radon test until about a week and a half later. They did an awful job in putting the radon tube. They did not use the normal material they use to close the hole. They ran out of the material and it was not my problem. I made them come back and do it again. When I finally got the radon test done the levels had gone up. They then came back and fixed the whole thing and put another line into another part of the line and the level went down by four points but still above what it should be. I have not heard from them since. I am very upset with them. Overall, they were very neat, but they did not do what they were supposed to do.

Response from WPB Enterprises, Inc
We appreciate when customers let us know how we do. Sometimes it takes multiple visits to determine where the radon is coming from because you cannot visually see radon entering a house. After the second visit we returned to this house for no charge and changed the fan to a more powerful model and added new sub-slab piping to a side porch. The radon levels were reduced but still elevated. I visited the house again for no additional charge and using expensive radon sniffing equipment was able to determine that a small pipe through the foundation wall that carried the well water into the house measured an extremely high radon level of 375 pCi/l. I sealed this radon source and the basement radon levels went down to 1.0 pC/l. The owner informed me she was now satisfied with the work we did to reduce her radon levels.

I was happy with the work. They give you a thorough estimate before scheduling the work and are up front about the initial price as well as what extras might cost you, such as what it would cost should a second hole be required to achieve the needed suction. I liked this because the pricing was clear but they also are trying to make clear they would prefer to do one hole to save you money (vs. other companies that give a flat price no matter how many holes they do, which is what I got from another estimate). In our case only one hole was required. They did the work quickly but also showed good craftsmanship. The radon pump outside is installed well and they do a good job trying to blend it in with the area around it by matching it to the gutter downspout. After they were done they walked me through what they did and were patient about any questions I had. The one negative I had is that the estimate report was almost too detailed. It was hard to read in parts and I ended up having questions about the type of pump. I would recommend they make it a little more simple. But that's just nitpicking. They really do great work. I went with them based on recommendations and a very detailed web site. I'm impressed and would use them again.
Description of Work: They performed radon mitigation at our house. They installed a pump outside, drilled a hole to the interior basement, and drilled a hole in the basement. After that they connected the pipe from the basement hole up into the pump outside, tested to make sure the suction was good, and then sealed all the areas around the hole up to make sure there is no air leakage.
