Description of Work: In November, I had a competitor ( a company who has been servicing my furnace for more than ten years) do a furnace tuneup. It was botched, Called them back to fix their mistakes. They just muddled through. We dealt with the problems until I couldn't stand it any more. Called Armstrong, explained the situation, within a couple of hours the tech arrived. And it was a tech that worked for the aforementioned competitor. He immediately saw the their mistake and dug right in to repair THEIR MISTAKE! Rob worked diligently and professionally, until he achieved the desired result. From now on I am an Armstrong Comfort Solutions customer with Rob N. as my tech!! Thank you Rob and Armstrong

- During the sales process dealt with one person who handle my questions over a few months of deciding what company (finally went with Carrier over Trane) and vendor (McDonald) to go with. They always returned my calls within one day. Was the lowest priced, too. - Removal of old system and basic install was handled in one day. (It was winter and I needed the heat back on.) - Next day they finished the work. Great craftsmanship!!! - System has worked fine for three years. (Had a freon leak after two years but they took care of in within 24 hrs.) - I use them for my yearly furnace/AC check and their price is very competitive.

There was never any kind of claim or complaint filed with our company. The statement is a defamation on our company and libel. We are currently researching everything in our records about this customer. There is nothing in our records that show any customer claim that was stated in the review. We will be filing a libel suit with the customer. This is a written defamation of our company. Any customer with a complaint is directed to me as the owner. I do everything in my power to maintain the customers satisfaction. We would never let something like this go unresolved. If we were to have caused damage in a home we are overly insured with a liability policy that would cover any damages. Being that there was never a claim filed with us or our insurance company I find this to be a false claim.

I am very pleased with their service, I found the price to be a bit high but I was happy to have it fixed.
Description of Work: I had them replace a thermocoupler on my gas fireplace. He had to leave to get the part, but he came right back and fixed the fireplace Most places I called said they wouldn't service a unit that they didn't sell, so I got lucky with McDonald.

Not well. After one summer, air conditioner quit working, I paid McDonalds service cost to come and look at it. I did not buy extended warranty so I paid in full for service fee. They blamed Trane for the faulty air conditioner and Trane blamed them for not having proper training in installing unit. Trane sent part for repair to McDonalds but McDonalds wanted $700 for another service fee two weeks later. I had a different professional company come out to look at problem. Within 2 minutes they told me my problem was do to new air conditioning unit being installed right in front of exhaust pipe ( dryer vent ). This cause all lint from dryer drawn into air conditioner when it was running. This caused air conditioner to work extra hard due to lint in air conditioner. I was told rule number #1 is never to install an air conditioner in front of dryer vent. I had repairs done for another $500 instead of $700 McDonalds requested on top of original service charge. I had to re-route dryer vent another 5 foot from air conditioner . Air conditioning unit has worked well since.
Description of Work: Purchased brand new air condition unit from dealer and they installed it.

System was installed by a skilled technician and the homeowners son, who was an apprentice for us at the time. This was a replacement unit and was installed in the original spot upon the homeowners request. The unit was also installed through Home Depot and not one complaint was received by Home Depot or by our company to let us know that there was a problem or it would've been taken care of immediately. Our records show that there was one service call completed in 2011 in the amount of $144 for adding refrigerant to the unit 4 years after it was installed. We take pride of our work at McDonald Plumbing/HVAC and customer service is our #1 priority above all else. If we would've been aware of an issue we most certainly would've taken care of it as soon as we possibly could.

This review is for Jeff McDonald, who has his brother Brad helping him. There are other McDonalds (they are related) but they have employees. This one, Jeff himself does the work himself, (with his brother when he needs him.) It is listed Jeff McDonald Plumbing. I thought he was very knowledgeable, I think they did a good job. I really liked that he answered my call right away. He got back to me right away called and told me when he would be here and he was here a little before he said he would be. He cleaned up. Price wise I don?t know how to compare him with any one else. I thought he was a little high, my husband thought the price sounded right for what he did. He gave me a mug, with his name and telephone number on it. 724-285-7116 Registered and Insured. then Jeff said: ?when you call this McDonald, you get a McDonald?, meaning that the other McDonald has other people working for them and you don?t know who you will be getting.
Description of Work: Not sure if this review is for the correct McDonald plumbing, but here goes. We had a leak in a pipe somewhere but didn't know where it was coming from, so we called Jeff McDonald plumbing.

GOOD AND BAD. VERY MIXED FEELLINGS. The foreman never instructed the workers on site at all and went out of town. I told the foreman where I wanted the fan to be if it was an easy install and he gave me a price . I did not want to go over that. If problems - we would put it where it would be an easy install and the price would be the same . NOTE: THE WORKER & HELPER WERE KIND, COURTEOUS, CAREFUL WITH MY HOME, & SEEMED PROFESSIONAL I liked them. Major problems began when after a few hours I decided to check out what was going on in the attic. They had half of my heat Main trunk line disassembled (I just paid to have it put there!!!!) because it was in the way of where I had HOPED to have the fan installed. I told them to put it all back. The fan would have to go in the middle of foyer where it was an easy install. Much time wasted. Next - WITHOUT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS for the fan install, A hole was cut in the 2 story foyer ceiling and I was told the fan company sent wrong items - they did not fit. I spent much time on phone complaining to the fan company - only to find out the installers had goofed. The hole was now too big. They cut joists. Now nothing to support fan properly. So I donated wood and they went out to buy wood. Instead of putting the same thickness to support the fan & other joists (2" x 8" joist) they bought 1" pine. They were initially going to leave big gaps around the fan in the attic - I insisted no gaps because the fan would be pulling attic air and drastically reduce air being pulled from down stairs ( the whole point of having the fan). I KEPT pointing out things - but it seemed like they were not listening. So the quality of the install is very hodge podge - not quality. They hand made metal moldings to try to cover the hole that was to big. They put one quick coat of spray paint on it. I expressed concern about only one coat, but it got put up anyway. It is blotchy and noticeable. And no way I can paint it as it is a 2 story foyer. A 3 day job took 5 days as they were told to worked on someone elses emergency in the meantime - leaving my home torn apart longer. I used the fan this summer - it is working ok. As far as I know the other stuff is ok, but has not been used. So to recap- seemed to be no foreman to give good instructions. Men seemed afraid to make logical decisions as they would be in trouble w/management ( like the cost of a 2x8 would be too much). And of course didn't read instruction. No one seemed to really be paying attention to what the customer wanted. I have been holding off on this review because I do not want to damage the workers reputation. I feel most of problem was management and how they handle things. The workers made a mistake on not reading directions and assuming they knew what they were doing. Lesson learned. NOTE: THIS WAS NOT A TYPICAL JOB FOR THIS CO. THEY MAY BE GREAT ON STUFF THEY DO ALL THE TIME. I am satisfied SO FAR, but not happy. Sorry ---

Over the past 90 days: Bought the house and had to move the hot water heater out of the garage. It was 15 years old, so we decided just to replace it. McDonalds came out and replaced it with a direct vent model. Whole job done in 6 hours. No issues at all. Flue for the chimney needed a new liner. Since the only thing using it anymore was the furnace, and it was 15 years old, decided to replace the furnace with a high efficiency model instead of messing with the flue. After the install was completed, we discover the fan noise was a bit loud. McDonalds was out the next day and increased the size of the air intake which solved the problem. No additional charge. My sewer line kept backing up every few weeks. McDonalds came out and found that the previous owners had replaced the old terra cotta line from the city tap-in to the house with PVC. They left the terra cotta piping under the house and roots were invading the line. I went with the "permanent" fix, and had McDonalds replace the terra cotta pipe under the house. The old piping to the bathroom, connected to the terra cotta line, was not install correctly (another do it yourself job of a previous owner). and in pretty rough shape. This was also replaced. No more leaks or backups. McDonalds will continue to do all my plumbing and HVAC work. They do high quality work and the price is right. I have recommended them to my new boss for issues he is having in his new home.
Description of Work: Replaced hot water heater. Rerouted gas and water lines. Installed new high efficiency Carrier furnace. Replace terra cotta sewer pipe under house and cast iron piping to bathroom

I called on a Saturday when we noticed our AC was out. I called and their answering service answered. The tech called back in 15 minutes and was at my house probably 30-40 minutes later. He had the part in his truck and he fixed us right up. The tech was very knowledgeable and explained things very well in terms a layman could understand.

When flushed, toilet would back up; had to be flushed 3 times in a row for this to occur. This problem only occurred with toilet on the main floor; there was no problem with toilet in basement. Plumber said it could be septic but did not have tools to remove cover to see drain from house to septic. Also did not have a plunger to use on toilet. He was not able to determine where the septic tank was. He decided it was clog in drain in house. He pulled the toilet to put hose down and ran water for 20 minutes or more. Also took toilet outside to see if clog was in toilet (if clog had been in toilet, water would have risen the first time toilet was flushed) and was going to reset toilet with mud and grass on it. Had to be told to clean toilet prior to re-setting it. When the toilet was re-set, the flapper would not close which caused the toilet to continuously drain and meant we needed a new toilet. Total charge was $288.53. I had to buy a new toilet ($212.00) and had it installed on June 22. However, on June 28, problem reoccurred. Service manager came out and told me that the problem was definitely that the septic tank needed to be cleaned. He was also unable to remove cover on drain line. However, he could not determine where the septic tank was. He also told me that the basement toilet must be draining into the yard and not the septic tank but could find no evidence of toilet draining into yard. At least there was no charge for this visit. Woodside Plumbing came and used a camera to locate septic, did remove cover on drain from house, and determined that there had to be two septic tanks - one for the main floor toilet and one for the basement toilet. Problem was that there was a break in the drain pipe from the house to the septic. They had to use a backhoe to uncover the main septic (two tanks), replaced the line from house to septic, installed collars on the two tanks, and located a third septic tank downhill that is used by the basement toilet. Another company came and emptied the septic tanks.
Description of Work: Was supposed to removed clog from toilet.

If you're going to have a plumber try to get as many things done for their trip so you can maybe get a discounted rate. They don't carry all parts on their truck so try to give them as much information up front so that they can perform the work and not leave the job to pick up extra parts. You will be charged for their time to go and pick up the part. Overall I was satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Since I had several things that needed worked on and they were going to be at my home for at least a day, they gave a discounted hourly rate. The items they performed were fixing 3 toilets, an outside facet, connect a drinking filter, and connecting an ice machine. The regular plumbing was done satisfactorily. The out of the ordinary job had a few problems where the plumber needed to return to fix a leak and a line, but they came back willingly and did not charge us for anything upon their return. I would recommend this company.

It went pretty well. It took him about 2 hours for all 3 projects. He left once to go to Home Depot and came back with one of the two parts he needed. The other one he had to order from a supplier. His professionalism was pretty good. I tried to offer some suggestions for getting a screw out of the shower handle. He tried them, but I'm not sure wholeheartedly. I don't know if it was a woman suggesting something or he just didn't think it would work. He ended up breaking the handle off. He was 50 minutes late, without a phone call.
Description of Work: McDonald Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning replaced two of my sink drains in the kitch, put in a new hot/cold converter in my tub, and replaced the handle and cartridge in a shower stall.
