House Cleaning, Water or Storm Damage Restoration + 12 more
My insurance claims agent referred me to First General after my house was struck by lightning and caught fire Friday, July 22, 2011. Her exact words were, "They are awesome and will take great care of you." So far, I would have to say she is exactly right.
Within hours of the fire and minutes of my insurance claims agent putting a request order for First General to contact me, Ben from First General called me to set up a time to assess the property damage. I wasn't even off the phone with the insurance claims agent when Ben called, so I had to ask Ben if I could call him back. Before I let Ben off the phone, he asked if I needed someone to tarp the damaged portion of the house, and I emphatically said yes. I called Ben back after ending my call with the insurance claims agent about five minutes later and was impressed to learn he had already arranged for roofers to tarp the portion of the house that was damaged as well as a window the firemen busted while trying to gain access to the house. He had only been assigned the case for five minutes! He also thoroughly explained to the restoration, reconstruction, and removal process to me and put my panicked mind at ease. When he said, "I know it's hard to hear, 'Don't worry,' because your house just caught fire, but we're going to take care of everything and make it good as new or better. All you need to worry about is what color paint you want," I totally believed he was sincere and knew I had the right person for the job.
Ben and the roofers showed up bright and early at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 (less than 12 hours after the fire) ready to work, and they finished the job just as quickly as they arrived. Because the damage was so extensive, I expected it would take weeks for reconstruction to begin, but surprise! Fran, the project manager Ben assigned to oversee the repairs, had an electrician out Wednesday morning (again, bright and early), July 27, 2011, to start rewiring the electrical. The entire project is expected to be complete some time around the end of November/beginning of December, but I have no doubts based on my experience so far that I will be superbly happy with the quality and workmanship. Of course, I will post a full and detailed update once the work is done.
