Our A/C failed during the hottest week of the year, but the team at Schultheis Bros was able to fit us in and come to the rescue! They also replaced our heater at the same time. Since then our heating and A/C have been working really well! Would highly recommend.

Our breaker broke and I was nervous going into upper 80s without the A/C. Katie went into the office over the weekend and had a vendor open up to get the part, then Jeff came over on Memorial Day to install the piece. Really appreciate the high level of service. Thanks guys!

We had an extremely positive experience from the time when we first met with the salesperson through the completion of the installation. The installers were very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The sales representative was able to answer our questions about the product and helped guide us to make a purchase that fit our needs. We would not hesitate to recommend Schultheis Brothers in the future as they clearly exceed our expectations.

I came home from Thanksgiving dinner around 10:30 pm to find the house topping 80* and still running even though the thermostat was set for 67*. I didn't know who to call so went to Angie's List. I called another HVAC company first and was told it was 145$ just to speak to the on-call tech on the phone then an additional fee of $145 if they came out. I hung up and kept looking. I found Schultheis Bros next and am glad I called them! From the start they were caring and professional. The initial person who answered the call listened and then asked if I wanted to have the on-call tech call me. I said yes and Marcus, the service technician called within 15 minutes. He patiently listened to what was happening and helped me to troubleshoot a bit. It quickly became apparent that he would have to come out and see what was happening to my very old furnace. Before he suggested he come out he explained that it would be $150 for him to come. Considering the furnace was still running, it was Thanksgiving night and it was after 11:00 pm the fee did not seem outrageous. Marcus arrived by 11:30 and systematically assessed the furnace. Not surprisingly for a furnace which is about 25 years past its expiration date, the furnace has some serious problems. Marcus was able to get the furnace to stop running so it could cool down and showed my husband how to manually turn it on and off so we had heat but not too much heat. He took pictures of the old parts and said that they would see if there was a way to repair the furnace but we might want to consider replacing it. His patient and professional demeanor and explanation made us feel comfortable. We asked him to have the office call so that we could get an idea of what replacing the furnace would involve. Marcus left at about 12:30 and charged us only the $150 for the visit. I then received a very pleasant call from the office in the morning to set up an appointment with Rocco, the sales rep. Rocco will be out Monday morning! I look forward to meeting with him and to most likely buying a furnace from the company.

On November 7, 2018 Tony and Nate installed a Trane Furnace and Electronic Air Cleaner in my home. I just wish everything went this smoothly. Basically, I sat upstairs and watched TV while listening to constant work for just over four hours, and at the end of the four hours the new furnace simply perfectly appeared in my basement. In addition, they cleaned up a couple of other things from a previous installation, related to ductwork and excess wiring, things I requested during the sales visit. Tony was also the salesperson for this furnace, and he mentioned that he had been an installer and sometimes still fills in during a pinch. I requested him – and thank you so much for sending him. In recent years I’ve had to have a lot of things done to my older house. And honestly, being the recipient of such professionalism for a big job like that is just a joy to experience – like an art. I really appreciate it.

Do not use Schultheis Brothers. Their service is trash and they don't stand by their work if there is an issue. Our roof had a small problem that was discovered when we were selling our home. Our roof was installed by Schultheis when we were purchasing the home by the original owners. I was pleading for them to help me even though they were busy because as I said, "i'm sure they woul dlike to stand by their work." They were looking for a way to make an exception until I received the "I gotcha" call. Jackie was so pleased to tell me that I was bumped to the back of the list and that the record on my home proved that my name was on the installation so the warranty was void. Not only void but I'm at the back of the line?!? When I called her out on her "I gotcha" tone, she hung up on me! She literally hung up the phone on a customer! Save yourself a headache and avoid them for all services.
Response from Schultheis Bros
"This roof was installed in July 2016 for the previous homeowner that this person purchased the home from. Our labor warranty for our roof installations are for a two year period, which means the warranty for this roof expired July 2018. We tried to explain to the customer that we would be happy to come out but there would be a cost and there would also be a wait due due to the other customers. The customer was dissatisfied with our response, but we stand by our company policies. Management called yesterday, October 30th, to discuss and has not heard back from the customer."

Fernando is our current technician, and he could not be nicer. He had been doing our semi-annual maintenance for over a year now.. He is clearly very experienced, careful and goes above and beyond -- simply very professional. He also came to repair a problem from a recent installation a couple of weeks ago, and he did a great job with that as well. Super.

Schultheis Bros. has become my go-to company. I have an old, unusual house. It had an outdated, Sears “trailer” style gas furnace, circa 1970, that became unusable. As a result, I’ve had issues with freezing pipes in the winter, as the furnace had supported a laundry and kitchen that extend far away from the main furnace, with a crawlspace underneath. Since that kind of furnace is no longer made, Schultheis found a different solution, what amounts to a gas powered space heater that does not need an external chimney (or even electricity). As usual with Schultheis, the installers were great – consummate professionals. I even pointed them to the wrong gas shutoff and they dealt with that, with hardly a complaint. That is the theme of Schultheis – they make the difficult look easy, instead of the easy look difficult. That is why they are old school – in a very good way. They also accommodated my desire to maintain the old chimney (for the look of the house), capping it in the process. And, they installed an outlet in what would have been just a junction box as the old unit needed electrical power and this unit does not – much appreciated, since I may plug a fan in there to circulate the heat. They made sure I was happy with the installation – and did not pressure me to accept anything I did not want. They are much appreciated for a single woman that owns an old house – one who cares about every nook and cranny of the old house.

Gave me accurate estimation of when work could be completed when I received the price estimate. Rocco, the gentleman who came for the price estimate, extremely professional and offered excellent suggestions with explanations for the suggestions. Once work began the crew showed up right on time every morning and worked hard throughout the days. They were courteous and professional. They did cleanup every day before they finished, and then a complete clean including the removal off all packing materials, dust and debris from drilling, everything. I would definitely recommend them and hire them again in an instant for any other projects.

This company arrived as scheduled and neatly replaced my water heater. All representatives were courteous and professional. The heater was the specific one I requested by make and model number. They hauled away the old water without an additional charge and the price for the entire job was over $200.00 less then the lowest quote I had obtained from 2 other companies.

I called July 2 on a dreadfully hot afternoon, because my air conditioner had stopped working. I told her I believed it was simply the capacitor. The woman who answered said she would reach dispatch immediately, but no one called me back. The next morning, I called at 8 and was told I would be reached by 10 (I wasn't) and then called twice more during the day, each time saying I believed all I needed was a new capacitor. In mid-afternoon I was assured someone would be coming over that day. I explained that I worked late, when the tech, Mike, called to say he was on his way, I said I hoped he had a capacitor with him and agreed to meet him there. When I arrived a minute or two after 7, he was there and had opened the unit. He said it was not the capacitor, that the Bristol compressor in my Carrier AC was a piece of crap and that it had failed. He said he would try to cool it off with a hose to see whether he could get it to kick in, but that it would cost a great deal to replace, that Carrier and Schultheis had a feud of some sort so I might do better to replace the whole unit, and that I not only would not have AC during the next several 90-degree days but perhaps for weeks longer because Schultheis was booked 2 months out. He expressed doubt that cooling the compressor was going to work. I left to buy a fan before a nearby store closed for the holiday, told him if he could get the AC working I'd pay him an extra $100 for going the extra mile, but that if he was right that the compressor had failed, there was no sense in his staying there longer and charging me for wasted time. When I returned, he was still there and said when he was putting the panel back together he looked at the capacitor "and it didn't look right" so he replaced it and the unit started right up and was purring like a kitten. (I asked for the capacitor; it was mushroomed and obviously bad). Mike apologized for being "so tired he couldn't think right and for it taking so long." I gave him $60 as a compromise, and then he handed me a bill for over $300. It included all his time spraying the compressor as well as a charge of $176 for a Turbo 200 capacitor that retails for $52. Maybe the tech was biased by the owner's dispute with Carrier; maybe Schultheis thinks homeowners should not only diagnose the problem but pay the cost when the tech fails to listen. I was overcharged, unnecessarily frightened into thinking I would have to buy an entirely new AC unit, my time was wasted, and when I called to speak to the service manager about the experience and the bill, I was told I would be called back and wasn't.
Response from Schultheis Bros
"We apologize that the customer was not contacted sooner in regards to her concerns, we did speak with her this morning to apologize and attempt to rectify the situation. The customer did receive service for her a/c within 27 hours of her initial phone call during one of the busiest times for our service department and when we serviced her a/c she had cooling the same night. We apologize that she did feel confident in our services and thank her for bringing this matter to our attention."

We had a new technician this time, Fernando, who used to work on installation. He was very nice and very professional -- consistent with everyone Schultheis has ever sent to our house. He lives nearby, and so perhaps he will be assigned to us now, which would be fine with us.

Mike K is the man -- he serviced my furnace on 1/10/18. But he also serviced it in the middle of the night on an extremely cold day in January 2015, and he is the reason Schultheis Bros. is my HVAC, plumbing and now roofing company ever since.

The roofing part of Schultheis did gutter cleaning on 12/20/17. These guys did the best gutter cleaning this house has had in many years. In addition, they took care to not just dump the leaves where it would do harm, such on an outside stairway with a drain. They are, as all Schultheis Bros. technicians I've hired (including HVAC and Plumbing) extremely professional and competent. I wish Schultheis had even more branches, including general handymen! This is a throwback company -- in a good way.

I was very pleased with all aspects of their professionalism and service. The technicians, Darryl and Justin were excellent. Very punctual, professional and did quality work. They did not cut any corners and were very accommodating. Its nice to work with a local company that has your best interests in mind. This is the first HVAC/Plumbing contractor that I felt I would be comfortable working with in the future. Our salesman, Rocco did an excellent job explaining the various options that we had regarding the equipment. He is very knowledgeable. I would definitely again.

Great, as usual. We had Ron this time (I think, but my sister, who had the same service the same day, said his name was "Ryan" -- I can't seem to find his name on the form). Normally we have Mike, but we were told he was moved from maintenance to service. Ron (or Ryan) is very quiet -- but very professional. Schultheis Bros. technicians are always very professional -- of all the service people who come to the house, this one is the least painful. I almost look forward to it! I purchased the a three-year plan.

There was quick response to our initial call. All other calls were handled in a timely manner throughout the time of the work being done. A technician was at our home within a day of the initial phone call to diagnose our A/C problem. Mark called when he was on his way to our home. Upon arrival he was thorough in examining our A/C system to discover the problem. Once the exam was done he gave a understandable complete yet concise explanation of the problem and the proposed solutions. He even explained how we could use the A/C unit fan until the repairs were made. To fix the problem, parts needed to be ordered. The central office called with a statement of the parts needed and their cost. They honored the still-in-effect warranty from Schultheis from their initial installation of the A/C unit. Our cost was for the parts only. The parts arrived within a week. Luckily this was at a time before any high temps. The replacement service was scheduled the next morning after the parts arrived. The same technician, Mark, came to do the work. He called before arriving. He was as courteous, personable and professional as during his initial visit. He began his work promptly upon arrival and was finished within an hour. Upon completion of the work he spent time explaining what he did and how he checked that everything was working fine now. Thank You Mark and Schultheis for a job well done!
