I would recommend John Mullen as a handyman hands-down to anyone, he's everything you could hope for. Prompt, honest, organized and perhaps most importantly knows what he's doing. I called him to come work on some lights and fix a toilet and he came at 7pm that night after I was done with work. He fixed the toilet and installed a new light and gave me honest (and much appreciated advice on the project he was working on as well as other things along the way.) You would only do yourself a disservice to look for someone else after finding him on here in the first place.

From initial phone call to service was less than 5 days. Quality work. Russ cleaned up after himself, and John made a f/u call to be sure we were satisfied. We were!

Jon was the only one who did not have an extra charde for the holiday weekend. It was 9 degrees outside and our airconditioner broke. Jon came out did some problem solving and felt that it needed only some minor tune ups. The unit itself was surrounded by over grown shrubs which he cleaned out charged the unit and claned the furnace;. He had us up and running in hours. I was very pleased and will use his services in the future.

This was my first experience with John Mullen. John arrived on time to inspect and perform maintenance on a hot water boiler and radiator system. (I had my plumber relocate two rads a few months ago so I wanted to make sure the system was efficient and leak free etc). He inspected the system and adjusted the amount of water and pressure. He cleaned an internal filter that I had never seen anyone clean before. I was surprised to learn that it was there. He thoroughly cleaned the boiler and after the system heated up a bit, bled the radiators. He also installed a new digital thermostat. It only takes a few minutes of talking to John and watching him work to realize that he definitely knows what he is doing. Although my job was small, he took his time and made sure the job was complete and clean. In the past, I've called the larger companies that rate well on Angie's List. WOW. What a difference in using an owner operator as opposed to an hourly sub. Not that I've had any bad experiences with the larger companies, they just weren't worth writing about. Generally, they were expensive (in my opinion), and in a hurry to get to the next job. I did not post what John charged because it was very reasonable for the amount of time he spent. John is an expert in his field. He's honest and takes pride in his work. I won't hesitate to call him again.

It went great. Another handyman told me that the sliding glass doors could not be put, in and I would need to brick in the back of my house. John was able to put them in with no problems.

The job was completed on time, within budget, with minimal inconvenience to the tenants. Over a three week period, John and his partner worked several 12-14 hour days and called upon other specialists to help him (including his father and uncle) in order to get the job done on time. All apartments he worked in were occupied and I received no complaints from the tenants, even though there were some inevitable air conditioning and hot water outages. The new HVAC and hot water equipment was installed in a professional, safe manner and strictly within and even exceeding code in several instances. When problems were encountered (and many were) John was able to overcome them and never asked for any increases in the cost of the contract. He used lots of drop cloths in the apartments and cleaned up after all work was completed. You don't find many people these days as dedicated to doing good work for a fair price as John Mullen. He stands by his work by offering a 10-year inexpensive maintenance contract that exercises the manufacturers warranties as well as his own. He treats all of the equipment he installs as if they were his own.
