My only complaint about John is that it was really, really hard to get a concrete appointment. But I suspect that's because he was swamped by takers of the Big Deal for his services and a couple of emergency Christmas no-heat calls, and that he's not that busy ordinarily. And I didn't mind that much, because my maintenance task wasn't urgent. The door to my basement storage room wouldn't stay closed after I'd replaced the knob set, so I needed John to move the strike plate, which he did. And believe me, it wasn't easy. There was a certain amount of trial and error, and he was extremely patient, determined to do the job thoroughly and properly and as neatly as possible, and he was much more careful not to curse than my dad was when he would fix things around our house! I was impressed with his professionalism, knowledgeability and helpful attitude; he even volunteered that I'd paid for two hours and the work had taken him only one, so he owed me. I will call him for that second hour -- I have a heavy cabinet that needs to be securely hung -- and I know he'll do good, careful work -- and cheerfully, too.

John was very helpful with installing curtain rods in my apartment. He responded to phone calls and texts promptly, showed up to my apartment when he said he was going to, performed the job quickly and at a very reasonable rate, and was very respectful of my apartment. He even cleaned up after installing the curtain rods. He was a true professional and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again for other jobs, big or small.

We found the company very competent and well equipped to handle each job quickly and to our full satisfaction. Response time was very good and work was done in excellence. I would highly recommend this company.

On the day of the service, Mr Mullen arrived at 7:45 am and left at 10:05am. He arrived with two additional men and about an hour later, another fourth man joined the group. They took the bathroom door off it's hinges and sandpapered it and painted it outside the garage of our house. At any one given time, one of the four men worked on the detached door while the other three stood around either talking/joking, smoking or talking on the telephone outside of our house. I asked him why FOUR men were needed for this job? He gave a vague answer about being on their way to another job. When the door was half-way done and still off of its hinges outside the garage and after one hour of the contract time had elapsed, Mr Mullen proceeded to tell me that this job would need more than the remaining hour! I requested a time limit and a price for the job to be completed. He said it would need at least another one to two hours beyond what I had purchased and that he would charge me $70 - per hour per handyman! I requested him to complete just one coat of the paint on the door and put it back on the bathroom and leave it at that. At this point even though I had my husband with me, I wasn't sure of the honesty/fairness of these FOUR men in my house and also was a little uncertain of our safety were an altercation to arise. Mr Mullen finally said he would complete the door and charge me an additional $105/- I did write him a check for $105/- when he left at 10:05am. So Mr Mullen charged me a total of $69/- (purchased as the Angie's List deal for 2 hrs)) and an additional $105/- in check for 2 hours 20 minutes worth of work. This was my very FIRST experience of using Angie's List - and I am very, very skeptical if I will ever use this service again. With this bad experience, I am almost ready to sacrifice the $29/- I paid as the annual subscription to Angie's List.

The biggest difficulty was scheduling John. Between our busy schedule and some day jobs he had, it took a few weeks to settle on the Saturday morning. But truth be told, a lot of the scheduling difficulty was on our end, not his.

Although John came to look over the work we needed soon after I purchased the coupon, it took 6 more phone calls (the last one from my husband) to finally get him and his crew to make an appointment to come and do the work. Once the appointment was made, they came as arranged and did a good job, but it cost quite a bit more than we were expecting.

The service went very well. He was prompt and attentive.

Very pleasant and helpful. Worked to solve problems really well. Worked in tight, confined space with a happy attitude and took care to do a good job.

John was on time as promised, and was tasked with repairing some termite damage around window moldings. After demolition, it became apparent that there was still termite activity; John waited while the pest control representative showed up and treated. John called in extra help and cleared his schedule for the day, removing moldings from 3 windows and some drywall. All damaged wood was replaced by the end of the day, and the area now looks great. John and his associate were courteous, explained clearly what they were doing, and the estimate given at the start of the job was honored at the close of the day. I would hire them again in a second.

He was very good. He fixed a bi-fold door that had come off the tracks. He installed new toilet seats, too. He replaced the tub faucet in the bathroom. He was very efficient and very nice to deal with. We've hired him again to come out and fix a light fixture that was broken and to repair a light by our door. I would highly recommend him.

It was a little hectic scheduling a time for him to come, but I expected that given the popularity of the coupon deals. Mr. Mullen showed up on time. I didn't expect him to get to all the projects in the time allotted, & I let him pick and choose what he wanted to start working on. But, he got everything I wanted done (except the AC-it was too cold). He was was friendly and professional, and he was helpful with his thoughts on some larger projects I'm considering.

rtantlyi bought 4 hours of services through angie's deal of the day. john sent two men (i wish i remembered their names.) their tasks were not difficult but were ones that i didn't care to do. their work was exceptional. most importantly, their social skills were terrific. an obnoxious neighbor inappropriately verbally harassed the men. they responded to him in a kind way and didn't make me feel badly because of the incident. i feel badly that i didn't have cash to tip them when they were finished.

I ended up paying them more because they did extra stuff. They came to do certain jobs but since I pointed out something else that was wrong, they ended up spending 8 hours instead of 2 hours. They were very accommodating.

John came for 4 hours of handyman jobs for which he had prepared to do beforehand from a list I had given him in an email. It will cost another $100 to correct my furnace and air conditioner but since I actually had put the incorrect air filter in place and he showed me where the dirt was gathering because of my ignorance, so the money will be well spent. He also looked at my circuit breaker box which another worker suggested we replace, giving us advice, and informed us about outside maintenance of our air conditioning unit on the outside. I've had many check ups by other heating and cooling companies but never did anyone ever stop and tell me just HOW to take good care of the unit if I want it to last. John was low key, fast but thorough, and I loved what he accomplished!

I like the look, I bought 2 hour handyman service but it took him three hours, which cost me an additional $70, to install 8 sheets - way to long to do the job. I like that he did not nickel and dime me, he used his tape and did not charge me extra.

John is meticulous, professional, and pleasant. He is also considerate about budgets, suggesting I buy the smoke alarm myself, for instance, rather than paying him to make the trip. As a one-man business, John appears to be busy, so you might need to be a little patient in scheduling him. It took several weeks before he was able to come back to my house for the second round of services. Although I imagine if it were an emergency (which it definitely wasn't), he would have done his very best to push up the timing. I would recommend John highly.

I saw a a/list "deal" for this service provider and decided to email first to see if he would work in the South Hills since his location is in the North Hills. I didn't want to buy a coupon and then find out he wouldn't be interested in my location and handyman jobs I was interested in (gave brief description). I received NO reply. A simple "not interested" would have been much better and respectful.

There was just a little misunderstanding about the work. I thought he was coming to look at it and let me know how long it was going to take. But he actually came to do the work. I had the supplies so it wasn't a major issue, just a little miscommunication. Will use him again when needed.

I purchased this deal for my boyfriend. He was great. He was very nice and very trust worthy. If I ever need anything done he will be the first that I call.

I bought the Angie's List Big Deal that was available for Mr. Mullen's services ($99 for two hours). I called him early in the day to schedule an appointment to have a ceiling fan installed, a light switch fixed and, if he had time, the caulking between the wall and our kitchen countertop repaired. Mr. Mullen called me later in the day and stated that he would be in the neighborhood. He fixed everything in about two hours, which I found very impressive based on my previous experience with handymen. He also ended up fixing another light switch for us. He was very professional and he did a nice job. I would definitely use him again.
