Water dripping in wall. Tom diagnosed immediately as broken seal in tub and repaired within a few minutes. Word to the wise, if tub has slow drain and you don't know what your pipes are made of, don't pour boiling water in your tub and then plunge it!! That broke the seal. Instead, call the plumber. Tom augured it and pulled out ten years of hair/soap gunk. Done! Very pleasant, courteous, professional.

Matt is a professional, straightforward business man. He was a pleasure to deal with for me because he is a no nonsense, straight-talking, non time wasting kind of guy (but not rude or abrupt in any way!) The repairs were MAJOR and took a long time. You should have seen the hole that had to be dug! But, it was all done in about 2 1/2 weeks. It was put back together so well. The only reason you would know work was done is that the sidewalk, wall, and curbs look too good next to their many year old counterparts. Matt told me that he does work the way he would want it done at his house and I believe him. The people he had working for him were just as professional, polite, and thorough. I really hope that you never have to repair a broken sewer pipe, but if you do, you should definitely use Matt's company to fix it.
Description of Work: Matt camera'd my sewer line multiple times. Met and talked with me another myriad of times. Provided estimates and reassurances to me about a jillion times. They removed a section of a wall, dug up our broken sewer pipe (it was broken where it connected with the main), replaced the Y. Cleared out the drain leading to the Y where roots had grown in, and lined it. They filled in the GIANT hole with gravel and soil. Poured a concrete footer, poured a beautiful curb, new sidewalk square, and rebuilt our wall. They replaced the dirt and replanted many of the plants.

Our gas hot water tank had begun to leak, so I called Matt Mertz Plumbing based on their Angie's List reviews. We received same same-day service and were able to take advantage of a $550 water heater promotion. Our installation was scheduled for after 4 pm., which worked out really well. The office called to check in and let me know the plumbers' estimated time of arrival, and the plumbers also called when they were on their way. I really appreciated how they kept in touch, which showed respect for my time. We're very happy with the friendly and professional service we received and will be calling again for future plumbing needs.

Jim was a pleasure to work with. He knew what he was doing and quickly fixed the problem. While he worked he also answered another plumbing questions that I had that other plumbers from other companies could not figure out. Mertz and Jim Toomey were quick, professional, and fixed the problem at a great price.
Description of Work: I came home and found a water drip from my basement ceiling. A brass pipe running across the ceiling and feeding into the water heater was leaking. I called Mertz Plumbing at 2:30 pm, and they immediately had a plumber, Jim Toomey, assigned to the project, Jim called me and within 30 minutes was at our home. Jim cut a leaky section out of the pipe and replaced it. Within 2.0 hours after I called Mertz the problem was fixed and cleaned up.

If the customer was not able to reach us, they should of called our office. Our telephone number is also on our page. We do not schedule anything through email. Our office takes pride on always making sure to contact our customers promptly to ensure satisfaction. Since this customer chose to take the low route on attempting to slandering us EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT DO ANY TYPE OF WORK; we decline to work for them in the future. There was no need to 'Red flag' our company. Judging the the A rating with over 300 reviews the majority of our customers are very please with our work and responsiveness. We ask that you please look at our overall rating and take the time to read the reviews of the customers who actually had work preformed by our company, not just the reviews made by miserable people.

Mike was present during every day of work. They arrived every day one time and the one day they had to take an emergency call and called me to inform me the would be a little late getting to my house. Work was done perfectly and they followed all plumbing code and arranged for all permits and was present for county inspection. They never left me without sewage service at night. They cleaned up and the yard restoration was perfect. Even replanted the shrubs that had to be moved in the front flower bed. They went out of their way to do the job right.
Description of Work: Our house is a multiple level house and because of this we have two clay sewer lines that exit the house. One under the first floor entry and one under basement laundry room. It was discovered through camera work the the upper clay line was full of water and water was leaking out down the foundation wall and into the laundry room. Matt was the second plumber to come give me an estimate on replacing the upper clay line all the way to the yard clean out. Total of 25 feet interior excavation and 15 feet exterior excavation. He was able to work with my home owners insurance and get me a estimate in one days time. They even cambered my second lateral to make sure it was in acceptable shape before tying it into the new line.

I approached 3 plumbers for estimates, Matt was the first to respond, first to visit, first to provide an estimate, lowest estimate and had the earliest availability for the work. He arrived as scheduled, confirming by phone before his arrival, introduced his team took my instructions and they got to work. He pulled in the necessary resources to get the job done quickly and efficiently, the team worked around problems as they arose including having to change the planned routing of the sewer line (30 foot further than originally planned, but no extra charge). They were careful to disrupt the site (lawns, driveway) as little as possible, and returned everything to as good a state as possible when finished. Very satisfactory experience, and I would not hesitate to use Matt and his team again. I consider the work they did at the price they charged to be excellent value for money. Thanks Matt!!

We initally called Matt for estimates on a number of plumbing problems to be fixed. He provided a written estimate for everything we requested. We called and scheduled a time for him to come out and replace the water line. He estimated that it would take two or three days, depending on how long it took the water company and township to approve the repairs. When I arrived home from work on the second day, I was amazed. Not only was the work completed, the lawn had been reseeded and mulch had been spred in the flower beds that had to be excavated. He also moved the water line so it could enter the house directly instead of with a bend in the line as it was originally attached. Inside, the job was beautilfully and neatly done. We will call Matt again to complete the remaining items on our list.

I called Matt Mertz Plumbing on Thursday, October 31st. Lisa was pleasant to talk to and set an appointment for Saturday, November 2nd for a time between 10 am - 2 pm. Around 9:30 am the plumber called and said he would be at my house in 1/2 hour. They arrived a bit early. The hot water heater and related connections (water and gas lines/valves) were very old and had to be replaced as well. An expansion tank was also needed as required by code. He explained everything he was going to do and how much it would cost. The whole thing took about an hour and half. Afterwards, he showed me all he did and explained the basic workings of the hot water heater.

Dan arrived promptly. This is especially notable since they alerted me that he could be late since my area is not in their normal work zone. I appreciate that they were willing to go out of their way. Dan got right to work. He answered all my questions in a most professional way and worked hard, but efficiently. Everything about him and his work was neat, precise, carefully thought out and well-honed with experience. He explained how the new tank is different than the old one, how to set it, etc., and gave tips to extend its life, did safety checks and rechecked it. He left no mess behind at all and didn't take long to do the job. I couldn't have been happier and I'm not easy to please. I will be calling Matt Mertz Plumbing, Inc., again for some additional work. Thank you, Dan, and Matt Mertz! And thank you, Angie's List, for another great experience!

I contacted Matt Mertz Plumbing a couple of weeks ago to get a qoute to remove an old water filtration system that was in my home and to replace a section of approximately 2-3 feet of copper pipe that was showing signs of corrosion. The pipe to be replaced was connected to the filtration system that was being removed. I also requested the plumber's opinion on an appropriate replacement system. At the scheduled time on the scheduled day the plumber arrived. We discussed the scope of work and he shared his opinion on what I needed to purchase in terms of a new "whole house" filter. I agreed to make that purchase and schedule an appointment to have the work completed. At that time the plumber provided a quote of for the scope of work. A few days later I purchased the type of whole house system that was recommended by the plumber and scheduled a follow-up appointment. The same employee showed up for the second time and he arrived as scheduled and completed the work. I was very satisfied with the quality of work. All work was completed as scheduled and as committed. Matt Mertz Plumbing stood behind their commitments and we prompt and professional.
Description of Work: Remove an old water filtration system and replace approximately 2-3 feet of copper pipe.
This is a long review, but? if you are in need of plumbing repair, especially a large and potentially complex job, please read this in its entirety. I engaged Matt Mertz Plumbing to repair a clogged sewer line at my home in Pittsburgh (O'Hara Township). The 135 foot line had been in place for approximately 60 years when the public sewer main was installed. It originally appeared that the existing line could be repaired with Matt?s ?trenchless? system to re-line the existing terra cotta pipe with epoxy liner, with one spot repair in the middle of the yard that would require approximately 10 feet of trenching. Matt quoted the job, I accepted the quote, and we scheduled the job. At that point, there was no way to know that the job scope would expand dramatically before starting work. I knew the home had been served by a septic tank for several years in the 1950?s before being connected to the public sewer, so I asked Matt to confirm the location and path of all sewer lines from the house before starting work. Matt took several hours to locate and map all the sewer connections and lines, and to form a plan. He found that there were two sewer lines, gray water exiting the front of the house, and main sewer line exiting the rear of the house, not one line as originally expected. The job scope immediately expanded from repairing/relining a single 135 foot line to more than double the footage, and the joining of two lines (gray water and main sewer line) into a single line. To make things even more interesting, the original terra cotta line had shifted, sunk, and collapsed over the years, so the ?trenchless? system could not be used for most of the repair. This resulted in a total trench-and-replacement of all sewer line from the house to the street, with the ?trenchless? epoxy liner used for the final 20-30 feet to the public sewer line. Although the job was much larger and more complex than originally expected, Matt and his crew worked with me every step of the way, during the pre-work stage of the job, and during the job as work progressed. Each problem was approached and solved with skill and professionalism. For example, when the sewer line from the rear of the house was found to run directly under a beautiful, healthy 60 year old Dogwood tree, I asked Matt to leave the tree in place if possible. Matt said ?We?ll make it work?, and figured out how to run the new sewer line under the Dogwood tree without damaging it. When a 45 degree sewer connector was found under the concrete driveway apron, Matt?s technicians saw-cut the concrete, removed the heavy concrete section and laid it aside, trenched down to the sewer connector, then replaced the concrete slab precisely in its original position when finished. Each problem was solved to my complete satisfaction. I am very pleased with the job done by Matt Mertz Plumbing for many reasons, including: - Excellent and prompt communication during the initial contact and estimate process, and throughout the job - Willingness and ability to re-scope the job when faced with changing requirements - Starting and finishing the job precisely as scheduled in spite of the large change of scope - Ability to ramp up to the larger scope with necessary knowledge, equipment, materials, and crew to complete the job as scheduled - Knowledge of local ordinances to ensure compliance to code/law when complete - Sensitivity to homeowner?s desire to keep property damage and disruption to a minimum - Fair and reasonable pricing in spite of unexpected changes in scope Matt Mertz invested much more time and material in this job than originally planned due to the large change of scope determined at the start of the job. This resulted in a higher final cost than originally estimated. Matt made me aware that the price would be higher than originally quoted, but did not know what the final bill would be. I trusted Matt to be fair with the final cost, which he was. I recommend Matt Mertz Plumbing without reservation. I will call Matt first when I need any more plumbing work to be done, large or small.

)Matt was the only plumber we talked to who didn't treat me like an easy mark. He wasn't shmarmy or vague. Matt came out, looked at the problem and offered a two tiered process for dealing with our tree roots blocking our sewer line. He offered to drill ahole through the tree root that was blocking the sewer line in our recently bought house. If the line needed more work after that he said he would deduct the cost of the drain clearing from the bid. Ihave to stop at this point and explain that three other plumbers also came to look at the job (Gillece, Roto Rooter and some other private guy) and each of them either refused to give me an estimate but also intimated that it could be up to 20K, read between the lines. Matt was straight forward, got the job done and even arranged for new grass seed for the tiny part of the sidewalk that has dirt in it!
