Matt Mertz Plumbing Trenchless Sewer Repair Expert

First call was made for drain cleaning because we thought that was the initial problem. Joe came out and did a quick 25' snake into the drain and was getting stuck. Determined that 90 degree elbow under ground was most likely backed up/rotted. Gave us estimate at this time for work involved to replace the iron stack with PVC. Also mentioned to us that homeowner's might cover (didn't not even think about this at first). I signed paperwork to have work scheduled and to agree to the estimate. (We did get homeowners to cover it BTW). Got a call the next day to have work done the following day. Dispatch said that they would arrive between 8:30 and 9:30. I got a call that morning around 8:45 to say they would be here no later than 9:15. They got here right at that time. Jim (not sure of other guy's name) did the work. EXTREMELY professional, informational, convenient, nice, knowledgeable, efficient, clean!! Pretty much anything great you can say about these guys can be inserted here. Since I had to document everything for insurance, they would pause at each step to make sure I can take pictures. Joe was correct with his diagnosis that the elbow was causing the issues. COMPLETELY filled with black sludge only leaving about a half inch hole for water to get through. They even gave me a DVD video of the sewers!! All work in total took about 7 hours. I had absolutely NO PROBLEMS with these guys and would definitely be calling them for ANY and ALL future plumbing needs. I would recommend the same for everyone else!!

Their HVAC service was excellent. I have used them for plumbing in the past with great results and now used for HVAC.

It went really well...Nobody wants to have their front yard dug up to replace a cracked sewer pipe but if you have to we would highly recommend Matt Mertz Plumbing to do it. It is good to know that in this day and age one can still find professionals who take pride in their work...

Initially I wanted Hunter to remove the old lid and clean the drum trap, install a new lid, and install a new faucet assembly for the bathtub. Hunter found the old trap was too rusted to salvage and work properly, and the clogged drain needed to be replaced. He cut out completely the drum trap, the waste and overflow, the tub drain, and anchored the vent stack. Next he installed a complete new drain, waste and overflow. Finally he installed the new Central Brass fixture I supplied. Everything went well and no leaks!

Plumbers arrived on schedule, removed old plumbing in basement to main sewer and replaced all with new. Old plumbing was functional but installed incorrectly, so Chris and team removed it, designed the proper plumbing, and did all the installation in one day. I am very satisfied with the response and repair, very professional, and will last the life of the property. This is my second major job done by Matt Mertz, and I will call them again when I need more professional plumbing work.

Called matt mertz for a issue with our plumbing was backing up they came out and it was found that that they had to dig the quote was for 2500 we had this problem before we had another company perform camera view tell us we'll need pipes replaced so I knew they wasn't trying to hustle us so we agreed to get the work done they came back Friday so they dug to the pipes and cut a hole in it to see what the issue may be better come to find out we needed the hole sewer line replaced the house is old and has very old pipes so that cost and additional 6000.so this company does not have any payment plans or financial help so you better have homeowner insurance that night after they left my wife and kids started getting sick vomiting and diarrhea so i checked the basement and the pipe that they cut open was not covered so raw sewage was passing threw the uncovered pipe it was brought to there attention and it was played off like that happens sometimes so I covered the pipe myself they finished the job that next Saturday the price was 8500 but there was a coupon for 500 off I wanted to see if they would mention that coupon which they did not so I did so 8000 was the final price I when into our basement and they did not replace my wood paneling that covered the pipes against the wall and the things that was in the basement was not covered with plastic so all our stuff needs washed and wiped off from all the dust from them digging overall the service was ok I might use them again if we do I will be supervising them better

A plumber came on Sunday night as the floor drain in my garage backed up. He tried to rout out from the floor drain, but couldn't get through the clog. He kept getting dirt. He tried several other things, but to no avail. He did manage to figure out that the kitchen, first floor bathroom and the washing machine all were on that drain, so we couldn't use any water or toilets from those rooms. Very inconvenient. After about 90 minutes he said that he couldn't fix it tonight. He said that the next step is to get a camera and see what the problem was. He asked when I was available and told the next day. He said someone should be able to come out and the office would call me to tell me when. The next day I took off from work and waited for the plumber to arrive. By 1:30 having not heard from their office I called and spoke to the person there. She said the earliest someone could come is the next day at 4:00 pm. I told her that the plumber from yesterday said someone would come today so I took the day off. She said that she doesn't know why he would tell me that as she does all the scheduling. I told her that I took the day off work. She said that she will talk to the plumber and make sure that he does not do that again. I said that was fine, but it doesn't help my situation. I told her for the third time that I took the day off work. Finally she said she was sorry. I booked the plumber for the next day, which meant another day off work. In the mean time, my wife got the name of another plumbing company from her friend and I called them. They came out that day 2 hours later and diagnosed the problem in about 30 minutes. A broken floor trap. Appreciate the response below and the corrections to my a report. There are 2 main points that you missed. First, I would have appreciated an apology right away when I told you that I took a day off work. That is proper customer service. Second, the other plumber diagnosed the problem almost immediately. He did not need a camera to figure it out.

I can't begin to tell how grateful I am to Matt Mertz of Matt Mertz Plumbing, Inc . Let me tell you why: I purchased a home in O'Hara Township on Fox Chapel Road which is a wide stretch close to Rout 28. The house had failed a dye test 4 years ago and the house sat empty for these years. The Township said the sewage line would have to be replaced to the main. Before I closed, I took the recommendation of my realtor and hired a relatively new plumbing company. They did the work to the street, made a mess of the sidewalk and yard and replaced the sewage line only to the street. The Township informed them (again) that the line was taking in water at the main (the wye was too parallel to the main). They informed me they did not have the capability to handle the situation and wanted to get out of their contract. The line runs under Fox Chapel Road and the county wanted me to pave 20 feet of road if we did the repairs by digging up the line. I was devastated at the cost of repaving a large section of road. Matt Mertz thought the problem through and came up with the ingenious solution of shutting off O'Hara's main sewage line and pumping out the line into Fox Chapel's which was in the vicinity. Both the Township and Fox Chapel Borough graciously permitted this and Matt was able to put in a liner without digging up the road! He could have taken the easy way out but instead he was concerned for my plight and worked out a most brilliant solution at a reason able price. I am indebted to Matt and thank him for saving the day for me!

It was very difficult to find where the leak was coming from. They did a thorough investigation and eventually discovered it was coming from a leak in the drain vent. They inserted a new vent because the vent in the attic was filling with water and there was a crack in the pipe. The vent had backfall on it causing water to hold in the pipe. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They offered advice on how to keep our pipes clean. I would recommend them highly and call them in the future if needed.

Outstanding It was one of the coldest days in Feb, I thought our drains had frozen. Water filled the sink, not draining, no choice but to call in a plumber. Shawn was out the next day, on time, and fixed the problem. He had to snake the drain, but he was very careful not to make a mess or get any water on the hardwood floor. He got it to drain and in fact all the drains in the house were draining better. Their ads quote a price of $89 dollars and that is what it cost, no surprises. I would not hesitate to call Mertz Plumbing for any plumbing needs.

I was scheduled for an appointment between 12 and 4. Nobody showed up. I called the office at 4. Left a message. Nobody called back. At 5:30, I get a call that he is on his way and will be there in 20 minutes. I took half a day off of work and I am not going to leave my son's basketball game to meet a plumber who knew he was going to be late and didn't have the courtesy to call and let me know he would be late. And THEN I am supposed to pay to clear a drain?? This already cost me a half day's work!

He snaked the sewer line, but could not open it. He determined that the line was frozen and said that he could not do anything about it and that I would just have to wait for it to defrost. Inasmuch as the cold spell was not forecast to break anytime soon, waiting for the line to defrost would mean days, if not weeks, without a sewer line. So I talked to another plumber who came out and opened the line. I would not recommend Matt Mertz Plumbing for difficult drain problems. The other plumber came out about half an hour after the Matt Mertz plumber left. The line had not thawed out "some" or at all. While Matt Mertz plumbers are said to be "trained to try and open it," this Matt Mertz plumber "determined that the line was frozen and said that he could not do anything about it and that I would just have to wait for it to defrost," in contrast to actually using his reported training "to try and open it." Suggesting that the reason the other plumber was able to open the line was because "the line must of thawed out some" indicates to me that they have absolutely no idea how to open the line. I repeat I would not recommend them for difficult drain problems.

Township extended sewage farther into our plan such that we were compelled to connect, so we had to engage a plumber capable of a long excavation (to the back of a 1+ acre lot that is partially wooded). Matt showed up promptly to review the work and submit his proposal. Matt was able to plan a path through our back lot trees that required no removal of mature trees. We were without sewer services for a very brief time (~ 2 hours) and that was only because we refused to use the water in the house until things were reconnected. We have a plumber in the family and respect that the work is difficult enough without nasty "surprises". At the end of the first day, the entire trench had been dug, the PVC installed and connected together, and all was ready for inspection. The excavation was so precise - the trench was only as wide as required On the second day, the county inspection was done in the AM and the entire trench was backfilled by the end of their work day. A few days later the final leveling and seeding was done (they did a few of the homes' landscaping at a time). The guys were working in the plan for a few weeks due to the number of homes and despite all of the equipment involved they were far from a nuisance. Matt did not require money up front; the job was paid when the work was completed using a credit card. We are pleased that we had Matt Mertz Plumbing install the new sewer line.

After calling several places to have no shows and no return calls Matt Mertz's guys were a breath of fresh air. They returned the initial call in a timely manner, showed up when promised, were extremely professional and informative. We received a great estimate and went with them. The guys showed up timely each day, filled me in on what they were doing every day and got to work. They were very nice and professional (also nice to my kids, added bonus!) We can't say enough nice things about them. Not one negative thing to comment about their guys or services. Would recommend them to anyone and use them again without a doubt!

The whole project went pretty much as planned. Matt made changes to better accommodate the pipe layout with more floor drains and vents.

He does all kind of work for me, and I have used him for a couple years now. He is very good!

On Saturday afternoon, a pipe in our basement garage, leading to an outside faucet, burst in the very cold weather. We capped it with a temporary cap ( SharkBite ), and called Matt Mertz Plumbers (who had done work for us in Nov. 2014). The person who answered the call said that they could have a plumber come to us sometime on the next day (Sunday), between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. She said that when she came back to work in the morning she would try to set up the earliest service she could. Sunday morning at 9:00 a plumber called to say that he would be at our house in 30-35 minutes. At 9:30 he arrived. He replaced a length of pipe, including a shut-off valve. The work took about half an hour. The plumber was very professional! He began by putting on shoe covers when he entered the house, to avoid tracking in wet from the snow-damp walk. We told him that since this pipe will not be used again until spring, it would be sufficient for now just to replace the temporary cap, and come back later, when no other emergencies might be awaiting his service, to complete the job. He said that since the minimum charge was for an hour of his time, he could do the needed repair. The work took about half an hour. When he was done he cleaned up the work place. Before leaving he gave us some general advice on protecting our plumbing from the extreme cold expected during the coming week.

Called main phone number at 9:30pm, went to emergency line which a person anserwed. They dispached a plumber who arrived very quickly. He worked on my problem and solved it. I was charged fairly and the plumber was very professional and skilled. I would highly recommend them.

I will recommend Matt Mertz to all of my friends and will definitely use them again for any plumbing issues. They were very knowledgeable about their trade. They were able to identify and fix the problem quickly and efficiently. Left the work area clean. Very professional with excellant service.

Called on 01/19/2015, and scheduled an appointment for the next day between 12:00 and 2:00PM. There was a slight delay in Dan's arrival, but he called to explain that he was on an emergency call and he would arrive as soon as possible. I realize these things happen and I appreciated the call. Upon Dan's arrival he quickly diagnosed the problem and made the necessary repairs. Dan was professional in all aspects and is a credit to Matt Mertz Plumbing. This is the second time I have used Matt Mertz Plumbing and both experiences have been positive. I will continue to use them for my future plumbing needs. I will also recommend them to my friends and family.
