I appreciate these attributes when having work done in or around my home. Brian took care of the problem (removed roots from the line). All is working fine now. I will highly consider using Matt Mertz again.

 + 0 moreWe hired this company due to good reviews on here, and while doing a Google search. Glad we did, because they did a quick, timely and professional job for us. The plumber (Brian T) was a nice guy and got right to work. He even suggested I print off the coupon they have on their website ($15 off) so I could use it that day! Here is the best part though - we called on Thursday and explained our new granite was going in on Saturday. We figured they would upcharge for needing our service done on a Sunday - but they don't! Really good thing to know :) Will DEFINITELY hire again!
Description of Work: We just renovated our kitchen and needed our new faucet installed, as well as garbage disposal.

 + 0 moreThe services all went well. Everyone was prompt, polite and very conscientious of keeping things clean and undisturbed. I originally found them here on Angie's list and after a bit of comparing with other options on the site, went ahead and called them to do the work since I was in a bit of a pinch. Chris did a good job and when he presented me with the 2 additional quotes, he wasn't pushy or salesy. He presented me with the facts, showed me the video of the pipe and answered any questions I had honestly. I didn't feel like he was making things up or trying to scare me into additional work. That's why I went ahead and hired them again. I didn't do any more than a few cursory google searches to compare prices of the other two quotes before I called them back to go ahead and performed the work. I felt the prices were fair and even if they weren't the best price (which I don't know that they weren't), I trusted them and it was worth it. Based on my 2 experiences, I'd recommend Matt Mertz plumbing and I'm very satisfied with my experience. Snaking main line - $250 Hydro-jetting + foaming root treatment - $750 Accessing crawl space and repairing/replacing toilet flange - $720
Description of Work: I first contacted Matt Mertz plumbing on Dec 26th. My main sewer line was blocked and I needed it snaked. They sent someone out first thing the next day. Chris came, performed a video inspection and discovered I had roots in the sewer line that were causing the blockage. He pulled a toilet inside and snaked the line. This broke through the blockage. He showed then showed me the video of the line as to how bad the root intrusion was. He suggested getting the line hydrojetted to better take care of the roots. In addition, when he pulled the toilet, he noticed that the flange was broken which had been causing the toilet to rock slightly. He provided quotes to fix the flange and do the hydrojetting. I then scheduled an appointment to have them perform the additional 2 services Chris quoted. On Feb 8, Chirs returned to perform the hydrojetting, and Bob & Brian T came to fix the toilet flange. While the hydrojetting was being performed outside, Bob & Brian fixed the toilet. This required Bob to crawl into a very tight crawl space under the house to access the pipe. They were very good natured about this. I know I've been down there and it's not fun. Bob and Brian were quickly done and cleaned up. You'd never know it happened except the toilet doesn't rock now. Chris successfully cleaned out my main line of all roots and then treated the line with a root inhibiting foam to hopefully buy more time.

They were immediately responsive and gave me an appointment that Sunday. Brian called the day before with some questions and also told me he would be there by 8:00am. He was right on time and quickly diagnosed the problem, discussed options with us...the +s and -s of each and recommended the less expensive one. When we decided he immediately went to work and did an excellent job including cleaning up. He was friendly and professional. We wou highly recommend him and his firm.

Bob Ladie showed up early, did the repair and was out the door in no time, about an hour. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. Used a $15 dollar coupon that Bob brought to my attention, bringing the payment down to $163. Seems like a fair price, LOL, it's always more than you want to pay. I will definitely call Matt Mertz plumbing again!

 + -1 moreThe installation went without a hitch! It was a difficult job, as the faucet was put in after the large sink, so access to piping was difficult. Brian was able to replace the faucet in a timely fashion. He also made me aware of discount coupons. I could not be happier with my new faucet!

On the first visit, the technician, Brian Tarr, told me that it would be more cost effective to order a new faucet than to fix the existing one, which would be too hard to repair. He suggested a brand. I ordered that brand; it came quickly. I was able to secure Brian Tarr to come the next day for installation.

He worked quickly and efficiently and left no mess at all. He was very professional in his demeanor. Also, scheduling was easy and he arrived on time. The price was quite reasonable. I would definitely hire this company again.

 + 0 moreThe visit went fantastically well! I was anticipating a horrible diagnosis. My sewer line was backed-up and I was envisioning my yard being dug up or worse, my basement. Little did I know that with one phone call to Matt Mertz Plumbing's receptionist I'd be in for a HUGE relief. First, I think it's incredible that they made it to my home and fixed the problem the same day I contacted them! That's astonishing in any business! I knew Matt Mertz Plumbing was trustworthy and professional the moment I spoke with their receptionist. She listened to me and followed through with our scheduling plans to the letter. Then, seemingly on queue, their field plumber Brian contacted me to let me know he'd be arriving exactly on time! After listening to me and seeing where the backed-up sewer line was located, Brian quickly went to work. Before I knew it, the line was clear and Brian was cleaning up. They made the entire process so easy for me I'm already planning on contacting them when I get ready to remodel my bathroom.

 + 1 moreI called Matt Mertz Co. for a second opinion. Met with Adam on Friday for an estimate and he quoted me $500 below my first bidder. On Wednesday of the following week, my sewer backed up. I called Mertz at 8am to see if someone could fix it temporarily until I got on their schedule - but to my surprise they were able to do the excavating work on the same day. Ron and Jess (?) were here at my home within the hour and started to work diligently until 3:30. On Thursday, the crew continued to work and Matt used the mini excavator to fill in the deep hole. The excavation site was very close to the foundation so Matt was conservative and careful with backfill - He did not want to put pressure in compacting the backfill. In the photograph you can see how high the mound is. He assured me that soil will settle and he offered to come back in the spring time to even it out if the mound was still too high. Since the grade was sloping towards the house, he created a trench for the rain water to drain away from the house (photograph). Once the soil settles, his crew will be back to cut the height of the PVC to grade. Since I was homebound for two days, I got to know the crew, I found them to be polite, funny, likeable and hardworking. I hope I never have to spend money on plumbing issues ever again - but if I do, I will definitely hire Matt Mertz Plumbing again.
Description of Work: Excavated about 12ft to remove old clay cracked house trap; Replaced with PVC house trap tying onto existing inlet and outlet pipes. Hydrojet - upstream and downstream to clean roots.

Currently I have a bad water heater, standard installation, standard gas 40 gallons, and I called to get a price on the phone. They would not give me a price and said someone had to look at it and then they would give me a price. Since this is a rental, and all I was trying to do is get a price, because I would like to use this company again, this was not acceptable. I think they need to change their policy on this. I can easily get from competitors over the phone a price.

 + -1 moreGreat job, professional, during the course of the job which started with the snaking of the pipe to open the blockage, to the camera in the pipe that showed how the outside pipe had broken and gotten roots in it, to attempting the pipe liner process, but then determined that it changed sizes on a bend and couldn't be done, to digging up and replacing the sewer line to the main. Then having it inspected (and passed first time with Allegheny inspector) and the trench refilled with stone and dirt. The entire team of workers from Dan, Tony, Zack, Shawn, Chris, Brandon, Clay, Jessie,. and Dylan were professional, on time, cleaned up daily, kept me updated on progress and kept to the original estimate. I have hired Matt Mertz Plumbing for various jobs over the past 4 years and will continue to call on them for any plumbing needs in the future.

 + -1 moreI called the scheduler on Monday telling her I had started a gut and remodel of the powder room and that I needed the plumbing for both the toilet and the sink moved. She told me the estimator was on vacation until Friday. I told her I couldn't really afford to lose a week and if I had to wait until Friday how long would I have to wait to get the work done. She assured me that it would be almost immediate as they worked on Saturday and Sunday. I said that I didn't want to pay extra for weekend work but I needed to get the work done by the following Tuesday. She assured me there was no extra cost for the weekend and that they would be able to start it right away after the estimator came. So I waited the business week for the estimator to come. The price was fair but he came back and gave me a date two weeks out. It gives me one weekend before Christmas to get everything done and there's no way I can do that. So I'm hosed with Matt Mertz plumbing. I have a call into them crying foul and am hoping someone calls me back but as of now I'm just hosed. - David P.S. I had to indicate if I would hire again and since my choices are only "yes" or "no" I picked no. If they call me and tell me that they can fit me in early this coming week then yes I would hire them but if they don't then no I would not hire them again after what they just did.

Brian, Chris and Tim were all professional, efficient, and extra hard working. They arrived when they said they would, explained everything (including all options available to fix the problem), did exactly what was needed and cleaned up afterward.
Description of Work: We had a major clog that could not be cleared by snaking. Hydro- pressure was required to free the clog.
