tl;dr: Don't rent from them if you have literally any other option. When we were first signing our lease, we foolishly signed a shortened lease as a favor to MJ Kelly so the lease would expire in the summer per their request. This gesture of goodwill was not returned. When we moved in the, the first bathroom had a broken toilet which leaked through the floor onto the staircase and the second bathroom was filled with trash and clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. The door to the basement was broken along with several other small things. MJ Kelly asked us to confirm if we would be renewing our lease just a month after we moved in. We said it was too early so they gave us another two month to think about it. When we told them three months after we moved in we would renew for a year they sent us a new lease with the same rent price. The lease spelled my Wife's name wrong so we asked them to correct it. Their reply was sorry about that, by the way, we are actually raising the rent by over 11%. We opted to not stay because of this large increase. Due to the reviews on here we confirmed several times what needed to be done when we moved out to get our security deposit back. We followed all their instructions and they still kept almost 15% of our deposit stating cleaning as per lease. The only cleaning fee in the lease was for cleaning carpets. I had brought this up to MJ Kelly before we moved out because the unit we rented had no carpets. They said we wouldn't be charged for it. MJ Kelly is not a trustworthy or reliable realty team. If you are really out of options and have to use them, demand they do the inspection in front of you when you leave and don't be surprised when they are unprofessional. We requested an in person inspection and didn't push harder when they denied it to us, which I now regret.
