They room they finally built was very nice, however, the entire process was a nightmare.  We started the process in august, however the work never began until December. The problems started after the first visit.  The salesman gave us a price and a drawing of the dimensions of the room.  Then I received a call from the building manager and he said there was a problem with the design and it couldn't be built as specified. At that point it was redone and was going to cost us more money.  After that, there was a problem with the roof.  and they said that would cost more money.  At that point I said I was ready to cancel the whole deal, and after contacting the owner, he agreed to put on a whole new roof for free.  i agreed, and the work was suppose to start.. there were several delays as I was told that they were backed up.  They finally called two days before they were going to start which was the middle of December.  I asked how long it was going to take and if it would be done before Christmas.  i was told it would be done before then.  I asked several times as we have alot of company over Christmas and didn't want an unfinished room.  I even said I'd be willing to wait if they couldn't be sure it would be done.  No, they said it would.  The first crew that came out were sub contractors because they were backed up.  They started the room.  Although the two men were nice, they were never on time, never told me when they were coming, and never called if they weren't coming.  After 2 weeks, they said that they would not be back as they had another job to start in another state.  I called the company to see when the work was going to be done.  several days later a second crew came out and had to fix several things the first crew did.   It was one thing after another.  Needless to say the work was not completed by Christmas.  It was into January when the work was finally done.  they left an open hole inside that they said they were not going to fix.  I contacted the company, and got the run around.  calls were not returned, I had to continually call back.  finally the salesman came out and said they would credit us some money and my husband could do the work.  As for my windows, they were suppose to be in by October, but someone dropped the ball and forgot to order them.  They were not installed until middle of january.  Finally the room was finished. In March, after a rain I discovered that the roof was leaking.  I called and complained and they sent someone out.  Another guy had to come out to fix it, as the roof was not correctly.  the nails were coming out of the shingle and had to be replaced.   they had to replace almost half of the shingles.  The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.  They were difficult to get ahold of, didn't return phone calls and I never knew if and when anyone was coming out, and if they didnt no one ever called to cancel.  Very poor customer service.

There was nothing I disliked.  They came in on time, cleaned up after the job.  Did the work efficiently.  That was everything I needed and wanted.

Well no one ever contacted me for measurements, it was impossible to ever get ahold of anyone to talk to except for the receptionist who left messages for them, then it was phone tag for like 3 weeks. It has now been 10 weeks and our project was not even measured yet.  I asked for a refund and was refused. They breeched the contract and are very rude and unprofessional.

Estimate response time was good. Salesman was professional. Getting start date took a few phone calls. Installers were good, cleaned up well and courteous. Would use this company again, and have already referred a friend.

The representative was very professional, but we just could not afford his product. I would recommend their product to one who could afford it.

I liked the installation and it was done in a timely fashion.  They did have to reorder one of the windows because the gentleman had measured it incorrectly and so I had to wait on that.  I had to have them come to do some repairs because it was not done properly.  But they came back and completed it for me.  There was no problem.  I was pretty happy with the price.

Contractor was not fair enough when asked to fix installation defects. Sloppy workers and poor quality of work. We had many issues which were fixed by expert personnel. His work was superb. Otherwise we were considering putting the whole matter to Better business bureau. Till now, rear side of the house’s gutter installation is not perfect. They promised to fix those defects during warmer weather.

As promised, the installation scheduler called seven weeks later and we made an appointment for the following week to install the window. The installation took slightly longer than the four hours that the sales associate had estimated but the installers did good work. They hung plastic around the window area to keep out the dust worked from both inside and outside (the window was on ground level). The window looks great and kept out the cold and moisture very well during its first winter.

It was a very, very positive experience.  This is the second time I have used them and because of our past experience, we did not even get an estimate, we just called them.

It is the only company we know of that offers lifetime warranties on windows that I know of.  The did the same for gutters and siding.

They were true to their price, fair, and clean. I was very pleased.

After all of my concerns, and all of my proof, no one will talk to me.  I have signed a contract and was going to spend $11,100 on a porch, but they do not care.  They assured me the porch would be in by November.  The salesman had told me I was scheduled the week of Thanksgiving.  The installation manager had no idea about this.  When I spoke with him, he told me my room was scheduled to come in after Thanksgiving.  The salesman blatantly lied to me.  How were they going to install my room, when it wasn't even in yet?  This whole time, they had been telling me it was in.

Champion Window claims their warranty is so good.  They guarantee their windows for life.  If this is the trouble we have now, are these really the people you'd want working on your windows for life?

  1. Refrigerator (garage), 2 chairs and a table (living room),  pictures (living room), cedar chest (bedroom) and window treatment (kitchen) were moved for installation, but not moved back.

TV cable was left swinging 6 inches from above the kitchen sliding glass door.
Paint gouge (powder room).
Half the windows were not uniformly caulked (hallway, bedroom, bathroom, 2nd bedroom and living room windows).
Water puddling on bedroom window sill.
No walk-through inspection was done post-installation.
Windows were left "un-seated"; I was unable to lock my windows.
Every window was installed streaked/hand-printed -- they weren't clean.  (I was later told that the first thing the owner wants to do is clean their windows.  Having purchased14, I expected them to be clean....
Wrong room window was installed (13 with muttons -- 1 without).
Front door and kitchen door (on opposite sides of house) were left open -- could easily have lost my pet.
Had to collar the installers -- as they were leaving -- to learn how to work the windows.  Received a seconds-in-length verbal explanation.
I was unable to receive feedback from Champion Windows until I contacted the Better Business Bureau.  Only then was the window sill leakage fixed.  (It took 2 visits from 2 separate Champion employees to do so.)
I implored them to fix the paint gouge, but they said they hadn't driven the right truck and didn't have the right equipment to do so.  A year later, and it still hasn't been fixed.
I joined Angie's List for one reason only -- to warn anyone thinking of purchasing Champion Windows.  This was the 3rd largest purchase of my life -- home first, car second, windows third.  This was the worst purchasing experience of my life and I only wish that anyone thinking of buying windows reads this missive prior to purchasing Champion Windows.

Champion is big company, so they have sales, maintenance, installers,  so forth.  It was like an assembly line.
The salesman were typical salesman.  Nothing more to be said here.  Did help with financing.
After the job was agreed to, the room was measured and ordered by another individual.  This part was done perfectly as nothing had to be re ordered or remeasured when the installers came.  They had all the necessary supplies the first time around.
The installers, Dan and Donnie I believe were their names, did a perfect job and the room looks fantastic.  It actually looked liked some of the pictures on the website.  It took about three total days to install, which was pretty fast.  Again the base and roof were already existing and they did a great job adding the new material with the old to make it look perfect.
After installation, which occurred in  the winter, we had two minor problems with the door lock and one window lock needing adjusted. Probably from my wood deck expanding and contracting.  Made a call and they were out.  No problems since.
I probably sepnt a little more on this job compared to a smaller handyman or contractor, but the work was high quality and backed by a long warranty.  I was very at ease with this company.

Everything went very well.  I was impressed with how quickly they were able to install such a large amount of windows.  The workers were very nice and accommodating.  We have no complaints at all.  They were also priced very competitively - I had received 3 other estimates.

They were very courteous on the phone, and then Jeff came out to our home and was very nice. He made me very comfortable in my own home. The two workers that came to install the windows were very courteous in my home, and I did not hear any foul language when they were doing the work in my basement. I was completely and totally satisfied with the work that they provided. They were really excellent.

The Salesman, Joe was excellent in presenting the all the appropriated information.  He definitely listened to my wants and desires and appropriately guided some choices from prior experience which was greately appreciated.  He definitely is an "asset" to this company.
However, it has been disappointment since placing with order back on 8/9/2012 and working with Frank, the designer ??.  I have found this part of the experience a very painful one, everytime I speak with him, the story changes about every avenue of this process.  It first took almost 3 weeks for him to visit the site for measurements, then it was stall, stall, stall to get my building permit with a number of  different stories.  It wasn't until I offered to purchase the permit myself to get the job started before the bad weather, that it finally happened after being told that it was submitted and come to find out that it wasn't.  At that time I was told that all my material for my room was there but would have to wait one to two weeks for the footer to cure.  The footer has now cured almost three weeks and I was told that the material for my room may be on the Wednesday truck and possibly installation would start late that week.  After phoning to see if that would be the case, I was told to phone back on Monday and he "may be able" to give me a better estimate of when to expect installation.  Well with the Frankenstorm is on it's way and I know that it will definitely not happen this week.  I am really very disappointed with the professionalism of this particular Champion employee and due to it would not be very willing to recommend Champion.
Well, I guess I will not have my Four Season Room to enjoy during the Holidays as was my plans........

I have done this work myself and I know exactly how these are supposed to be installed, but Champion did not install these properly.  The thresholds were not installed properly on either door.  I have had them come to my home 3 times to try and fix these issues.  I finally got tired of having them try to fix this issue incorrectly, so I finally had to do the work myself to ensure it was done properly.  Finally, these doors shut how their supposed to.

Because Champion had done such a great job with my door replacements, I did not hesitate to call them to give me an estimate on new siding and adding two additional windows in my living room facing the driveway.
The estimate was reasonable, the quality of the siding, backing board insulation, and casement windows was excellent.
My sales person, estimator, and work crew showed up on time and completed the job on schedule.
The installation crew was courteous as well as meticulous.  Nothing around the work area was damaged and all scraps and debris were cleaned up daily.  The installation process took three days to complete.
Included in the installation service was a complete check of my underlayment material to ensure that there were no foundational issues to be corrected before the new backing board insulation and siding was installed.  A walk through was conducted to ensure that nothing was missed.
I am completely satisfied with the product, service, and the people of Champion Windows, Campbells Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA.
