Calfo Mechanical Contractors

My furnace stopped working late at night and I called Calfo to see how much emergency service would cost. He told me $150 if we come out tonight and $80 if you wait until tomorrow. I decided to wait. The next day early in the morning, he called me and I told him that I would get back to him after I talked to my husband. I mentioned he was a police officer, at which time he told me about a 10% discount for the police. That along with a $50 coupon peeked my interest. After speaking with my husband and checking out their website and finding under Heating repairs, free estimates, I gave him the okay to stop by and look at my furnace. He told me that I needed a blower and quoted a price a little over $900, after the discount it was $820 and change. My husband knew he was overcharging and advised me to get 2 more estimates. Another company sent a guy out to look at it and told me it would be between $500-$600, another guy told me over the phone based on what I told him it would be no more than $600. I informed Calfo that I would be using another company. He told me that I had to pay the $80 trip fee. I asked him what the free estimates listed under heating repairs meant and he said that didn't include diagnostics... How can you give someone a repair estimate without checking it out? I told him that I felt that he was overcharging me. His quote of $820 supposedly after applying a 10% police discount and a $50 coupon was still 25% higher than 2 other companies. He said he doesn't know how other companies set their prices. I paid him the $80 fee but I am feeling like he is shady in his business and I would not recommend him to anyone. Now that I'm thinking about it, He didn't even give me the 10% discount off of the fee. So much for honoring our Police Officers... Even paying him the $80 I still saved money and I got a new filter also which Calfo never even mentioned that I needed... Some diagnostics... He was very nice initially but quickly turned on me when I said I felt that he was overcharging me... Buyer beware! I plan on sharing my experience with them of FB and BBB in the hopes that others can avoid the shady dealings of this company... If I cause one person to take their business elsewhere, it would be $80 well spent!

The service was great. Tim, the tech, didn't have all of the parts he needed to finish up the job, so he came back on a Saturday to get me set up. Very professional and highly recommended.

I have no complaints on the service they gave me. I was very well satisfied, they were very mannerly and they did an excellent job. They had an emergency come up and they called and told me about it and I was ok moving my time back so they get a 5 stars for communication. They got my system all taken care of and now I'm ready for the winter. Just really, really satisfied with them.

If I could give him more stars I would. It was a pleasurable experience as they came to my house, worked as quickly as they could and I trusted them in my home even when I left for a little bit. I really did enjoy them, they were fun, hardworking and good the job done. I am defiantly spreading the word about their company!

Tim was efficient, timely, honest, reliable and the work was done well. He would never try to sell you on work you do not need. I have never met a contractor with as much integrity as Tim.
