At 2:00pm "Joe " appeared as promised, & promptly replaced the dryer belt
The reports on Angie's list quoted a much lower price, so I was surprised at the fee. $90.00 service call, & &20.00 for the part.. I had to use a credit card as I never keep much cash around. I'm glad Joe was willing to accept that form of payment.
It tied up most of my day, & I had to cancel plans, but all is well, & my dryer is now functional.
Arrived on time and was very personable.
He turned on my refrigerator which had been shut off when it stopped working.
We watched the inside coils to see if they would frost over.
When they did not he said I have a bad compressor and he does not work on closed systems.
He recommended Tommy's Service if I wished to replace the compressor but he cautioned that replacement compressors never work as well as the original. He said I should probably buy a new refrigerator and he could get me a good price.
I was charged $50.00 which he indicated was $10 off his regular price.
The cost to replace the kitchenaid built in is over $7000.00.
I called Tommy's Service and inquired about the cost of replacing the compressor. They quoted me $1000.00. So I ordered the new compressor.
When the compressor came in - Russ from Tommy's Service came to do the replacement. He suggested that he first make sure my compressor is bad. He said there is no way to tell if the compressor is bad without checking the pressures.
He checked with pressure gauges and found the refrigerant was very low but that my compressor is not bad. He felt there must be a leak in the coil. He did further diagnostics and discovered there is no leak but a loose valve on the coil. He tightened the valve and replaced the refrigerant. The charge was $185.00.
If Ace would have told me up front that he does not work on closed systems I could have saved $50 and about 10 days of living with no refrigerator.
