Herb was great. He explained everything thoroughly. He came out and did the job when he promised. He explained the results and provided a professionally done report. He even agreed to explain to our buyer exactly what it all meant. Would definitely recommend his services.

Herb did a great job. Unfortunately, the house had construction details and unless the seller fixes them adequately, we will be back to house hunting. Still, I would much rather know the problems that exist before purchase than after.

Setting up the home inspection was stress free as Herb was very proactive and straightforward.  During the inspection he was very professional and knowledgeable.  He was extremely thorough and I felt that it truly was a learning experience.  As a first time home buyer, I felt better prepared to take on the responsibility of home ownership because of the time Herb took to explain each part of the home.  Even after the inspection Herb made himself available for any questions that I had about the home.  I would recommend him to anyone who wants a very detailed and thorough home inspection coupled with excellent customer service.

Found Herb Scott through recommendations on Angie's list. My husband and I could not have been more pleased with His excellent work. The scope and detail involved in these inspections was superior to what I could have ever imagined. Herb spent two full days Inspecting the home. It was very important to us that the home inspector be detail oriented and have years of experience. Herb explained each step of the inspection process and we felt that we really received a thorough examination of our new home. As we followed him through the house, he gave us a thorough explanation of all of the household systems. After the inspections were done, we received a huge report complete with pictures and explanations to back up what was discovered. It is like having a household manual for our new home!!!! I would describe Herb as professional, friendly, extremely detail oriented and trustworthy. We would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone purchasing a home. I would easily give him more than five stars if possible!

We met Herb at the home we are in the process of purchasing. He was on time, prepared and very thorough. We walked through the entire home and Herb tested all of the major systems. Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, all appliances, exterior, garage doors, everything you can think of. He is very detailed and professional with many years experience in construction. He was very thorough with his inspection and explained everything he was doing in detail.  Herb even returned three days later to complete the inspection because the owners did not have the electric turned on.  His report was detailed and emailed promptly. Herb Scott is a fantastic home inspector! When setting up the appointment he was incredibly thorough in describing the inspection process and informing me of his certification and background. Prior to conducting home inspections, Herb was a residential and light commercial builder. He then went into the home inspection business and also specializes in energy audits.
On the day of the inspection he arrived early and did a preliminary check of the outside of the home. Four hours later we were finished on the inside. What I liked most about Herb was how thorough he was in looking at every nook and cranny of the home for anything that seemed amiss. He described how the various systems in the home functioned (heating/cooling/roof/etc.). If you've ever watch 'Holmes on Homes' on HGTV, you will be familiar with the benefits you can derive from having a home inspector who is incredibly thorough in the inspection process. There was certainly no 'rubber stamping'. The stuff he found wrong, he noted. The stuff he found correct, he noted. Thankfully there was little wrong with the home being inspected. Regardless, he took the time to inspect everything thoroughly.
I knew I made the right choice for a home inspector when my real estate agent told me that a number of other agencies in the area will not accept inspection reports from Herb when they represent the seller because he is TOO thorough and doesn't simply pass stuff for the sake of passing it.
I wholeheartedly recommend Scott Home Inspections if you are thinking about purchasing a home. You can sleep easy at night knowing that everything that could be found in the home inspection process will be found by Herb!
