PENN VACUUM & CARPET CLEANING

The experience was horrendous. We had 3 confirmed appointments that did not take place before Morris finally came. He did not cancel the other 3, but instead I heard "I will be there in a hour"...but the hours dragged on. So, I was stuck in the house a lot and had to make many phone calls. The work started on 10/9. I got home that evening and a very large area of wood (the whole kitchen) was really rough and it did not appear that there was any polyurethane (if that is what it is called) on it. The areas that were filled in with wood fill were done very sloppily. They were supposed to be dry that night, but they were still wet 24 hours later. Other parts of the floor were smooth, but the polyurethane was put on really unevenly. There were marks and streaks everywhere. Morris said it was because the man he sent used the wrong stuff and used a dirty mop. I asked him to take care of it and not to send anyone else. He came the next day and did some work filling in certain spots with wood fill. He came the next day with another man (even though I asked him to do the job himself). He called that evening to tell me that it was a bad job because the man had walked on the floor and there were marks. He assured me it would be taken care of the next day. When I got home, I also realized that they had dripped polyurethane in several areas and there were dots all over the place. He said he would fix it. The next day, he grumpily came and said something about this being the last time he would come. I told him that I only wanted him to come one time and that it wasn't my fault that the job was taking this long to get right. I came home that night to a DISASTER. My apartment looked like an iceskating rink and my daughter noticed that she could see herself in the floors. The shine is glaring. Instead of using the proper equipment and removing the damaged polyurethane and then reapplying it, he just put more on right over it! And, the best part, is that he didn't clean the areas (I had assumed he would be using the machine) so there is cat litter, human hair, and cat hair stuck between the coats of polyurethane. He was only fixing parts of rooms, so having parts of them so shiny looks ridiculous. Morris would not return any of my phone calls. I finally got him today and he said "I am busy now" and hung up. I also noticed there is now wood fill all over the bottom of my kitchen cabinets, dishwasher, and oven. I did not get a response when I asked him how to remove it. Not only is this company very unreliable, but they use cheap and dirty equipment. Even if they were willing to make this right (and they are not, which is unbelievable) I do not think they are capable of doing that. I now have upcoming appointments with 2 professional licensed floor people. I described the situation and they were shocked that I was not given a choice in terms of the solution that would be covering my floors...or the finish. And, they were both horrified when I told them about the cat litter and hair on my floors. Fixing this company's work will cost me much more than the initial work would have cost had I used a reputable company in the first place. Never use these people. They may be cheap, but you get what you pay for. I clocked in hours of time waiting for them, calling them, and now I have to commit a lot of my time and money to fix their work.

They did a good job at a very fair price. The one downside was they told me on the phone that they couldn't guarantee me a price, and they charged me $50 dollars more for moving furniture. They did do a very good job.

Great- Morris came out same day I called for an estimate and was able schedule the carpets to be cleaned 2 days later. They arrived on time, made sure the floor wasn't damaged with their equipment and were quick. Morris is really nice and not anything like the "surly" contractors or cleaners I have occasionally had to deal with in the past (from other companies).

Everything was fine until the contractor had the rug. It took many, many phone calls and missed appointments to get it back, finally. The person who takes calls from the company does not speak English very well, so it is very difficult to understand her. The contractor did not arrive at the agreed upon time either. This in itself is not such a big deal, but then the contractor got mad at me because I did not answer my phone while the driver was en route to deliver the rug (We had already agreed on a time that morning, about 2 hours before the drop off time; I was at work and made sure someone was at home to accept and pay for the rug). So, the driver turned around and went back to the store and said that they would not deliver the rug to me and I would have to pick it up myself. They eventually dropped off the rug, but I spent way too much time trying to organize this (i.e. about 15 phone calls to get the rug returned). And the company was not very friendly during this process either. In the end, they did a fine job with the rug, but I am not sure if it was worth all the time, effort, and frustration.

He did an excellent job. He is an A ++.

Came out last week on Tuesday (6/26/07)for estimate. Scheduled work for Thursday 7/5 and gave us a Angie's list discount. Were fast and did a excellent job. Would recommend them (or use them) again.

Top-notch. The carpet cleaners took their time to do a thorough job and also went above and beyond expectations. Would recommend them in a heartbeat.
