It was a great experience. They are professional, thorough, personable, and they cleaned up after themselves every day before they left. They ripped out our old kitchen and a wall to the dining room, put up dry wall, installed the kitchen, did all the finish work (except floor and tiled backsplash). They took care of swapping out any cabinets/pieces that weren't right, and there were no hidden charges or extras. They also made smart and practical adjustments to our original plan based on their familiarity with the product (IKEA). They were a pleasure to have around, and what could have been a difficult experience was actually an easy and happy one.

Excellent. The cabinets look beautiful. Really a very nice job. He was highly recommended by IKEA to be the one to do the install. John is a very professional, excellent person to work with, and was well worth the wait to get onto his busy schedule. He was very helpful at the initial visit to verify the measurements of the kitchen. He saw mistakes in the plan where the size/shape of certain cabinets needed to be changed else they would not have fit properly in the space available due to window locations, and he knew how to properly size the side panels and countertop around an oversized refridgerator. During the install he was invaluable in suggesting proper door handle locations and orientation. He gave a discount on labor because I am a Angies list member and after finishing the cabinets even threw in hanging a microwave oven for free before leaving. When I told him that the salespeople at IKEA told me that he was the only person in the world who knew how to properly install the IKEA cabinets he humbly repiled that he was not the only person in the world, just the only one East of the Mississippi river. The cabinets are all aligned perfectly level. The IKEA kitchen guide book says that you can buy the kitchen and take the boxes home and install it yourself. It comes with a video that shows you how to do it, which I watched 3 times. I'm glad I didn't try it. You should not either. Spend the extra money and let John do it.

I called to schedule an appointment, the owner showed up personally, on time and was very professional. He e-mailed the estimate and we scheduled a date for the install. Ikea was late with delivery but John Mitchell was very accommodating in pushing back start time. On the first day he and his two installers arrived promptly and they worked diligently and efficiently for four days to complete the install. They were punctual every single day, they were neat, clean and organized. After the install was complete I noticed a small gap in the corner cabinet and called John Mitchell to come look at it. He said he would call me as soon as he was available and indeed he did call on July 3 to ask if I would be available on July 5. He came personally and repaired the problem quickly and efficiently. While he was there he also noticed a small gap next to my dishwasher that he insisted on adjusting. EXCELLENT customer service - I would recommend these guys to anyone doing a renovation project!!!

They were direct and upfront and advised me that they only do work with Ikea products.

Called based on the few positive Angie's List ratings and experiences. Had high hopes. Took a few days to return my call. During our conversation, was told that is on retainer by IKEA and when folks purchase their kitchen cabinets from IKEA and ask for a contractor, Mitchell is the one IKEA recommends. He also said he has little use for Angie's List. Rude, condescending, and dismissive towards me. After a few minutes of his "the good people at IKEA" mantra, I gladly hung up on him.

John and his team did a tremendous job. They dealt well with schedule changes resulting from problems with other contractors. Their experience with similar projects and Ikea cabinetry was clear from their systematic and through approach. They did an excellent job each day with setup and clean-up leaving the area spotless and taking special care to protect the new wood floors that had been installed. During the installation process they identified an issue with the design. They identified the options for resolving the issue and clearly outlined the pros and cons of each option. They implemented the best option and assisted with identifying the additional components that were required (as well as the components that could be returned). John and his team saved the best for last. After the counter installer claimed that the cabinets were not level and left without installing the counter, John and Jamal returned to check their work (all the cabinets were in fact level) and then returned again when the counter installer returned (a different crew) to make sure there was no issue. We were impressed by Mitchell Renovation's focus on delivering excellent customer service and top quality work. John and Jamal have a tremendous amount of experience with Ikea products and have great skills and a strong work ethic. If you're not considering Ikea cabinets you should and if you're using Ikea cabinets Mitchell Renovations should be your FIRST call.

John came out to see the old kitchen and was business-like and companionable. He took measurements, listened to our plan, and made suggestions to improve it. He provided his estimate within the 5 business days promised, and started work the day after we verbally accepted the estimate. This kitchen was for a rental property and the work was happening between tenants, but nonetheless the house was left clean and the materials and tools were orderly each evening. Work progressed quickly and as promised. The finished product is wonderful and I'm jealous of my tenants--they have a nicer kitchen than I do now! I would definitely hire John to redo my own kitchen when the time comes. John was responsive, professional, and timely throughout the process. He made recommendations to improve the project, made suggestions to cut costs, referred us to an inexpensive appliance dealer, and was an unexpected pleasure to deal with. So many construction/renovation projects are a nightmare, and this was just the opposite--a dream through and through. Thank you for your integrity, John!

We had been searching for a company to complete our kitchen renovations and luckily, since we were using IKEA Cabnitry, we were referred to Mitchell Renovations for cabnit installation. Upon meeting John Mitchell, we asked him to bid on the overall project, not just the cabinet install. After several conversations, we were 100% confident that Mitchell Renovations was the company for us. John Mitchell was the lead project manager and was on site almost every day. His sub-contractors were professional and courteous and his day to day workers were super. We have a 2 year old daughter that they were kind and friendly too, something that was not expected but greatly appreciated. John gave us an initial timeline for project completion (needed to be completed by our 2nd child's due date)and stuck to it almost to the minute and there were no excessive change orders adding to the overall cost of the project. What we went into the project with is what we paid. I would absolutely recommend using Mitchell Renovations for any upcoming Kitchen project.

Jon Mitchell came out to look at our kitchen and give us an estimate of cost and timing. We showed him our plans at that time. He came back with his crew on the specified date, made valuable changes/alterations to our plans, and started demolition. At the end of each day, they cleaned and vacuumed the work area thoroughly. They were able to finish a very complex demolition on a timely basis, removing existing walls and reframing to make them square and house plumbing, creating a little more, very valuable space. They removed three floors and laid a new subfloor. Any cabinet changes necessary were handled by them, and we returned any leftover pieces at the end of the job for a full refund. Installing the cabinets so that they would be plumb, in light of the cockeyed floor and ceiling, wasn't easy, but they handled it perfectly. Jon is extremely knowledgeable, and has a flair for design, which clearly improved on our plan, and we wound up with a practical and beautiful finished product with no hassles at all.

Overall the renovation went very well. John Mitchell was our general contractor and he and his team were always on time and very nice to deal with. As an architect, attention to detail is important to me and I enjoyed discussing the days work with John and his team before I would leave for the day. John was also very helpful at resolving details I had not thought through. I was not home during most of the construction and was very pleased to find the house so clean after the first day of demolition. I was expecting the cabinet installation to go well, but am also very happy with the carpentry and tile work that was done as too. John is also very knowledgeable about kitchen design. He made a recommendation to change our layout which was a great improvement over our old layout. The cabinet company made the exchange of items easy and John was able to have the new cabinets delivered right away. The electrician was also very good and even came in on Saturday to keep us on schedule.

Mitchell Renovations did an outstanding job. Always showed up on time, performed quality work, in a professional and courteous manner.

UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH KEVIN (INCLUDING ONE THAT TOOK PLACE MINUTES BEFORE THE ESTIMATE WAS EMAILED), THE WRITTEN ESTIMATE THAT HE SENT TO US WAS LACKING IN SEVERAL KEY POINTS. NO MENTION OF THE DISHWASHER, SINK & FAUCET, DISPOSER. WHEN I REQUESTED VIA EMAIL FOR CLARIFICATION AND TO HAVE THE MISSING ITEMS ADDED TO THE TEXT OF THE ESTIMATE, KEVIN CHOSE NOT TO RETURN EITHER MY EMAIL OR FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL. IN THE END, I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED AND FRANKLY SURPRISED AT THE POOR QUALITY OF THEIR WORK IN DRAFTING THE ESTIMATE AFTER HAVING HAD SUCH A POSITIVE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND PHONE CONVERSATIONS WITH MR. MITCHELL.
