They were very good. I think they got a very good price for the quality of service and the quality of materials. They were prompt and got the job done very quickly. I was very pleased with the service.

He came out as as scheduled, and gave us a prompt and reasonable estimate. We had been given two other quotes that involved way more than what was needed to fix the leak properly. John eventually found the cause of the leak and came up with a solution. He came for multiple visits, was prompt and courteous and best of all solved our leak problem! He also noticed some missing shingles on our main roof and replaced them. And as in other reviews he told us to pay him for the leak repair after the first big rainfall. We got through two rainy days with no problems and paid John for all of his work. We highly recommend him and appreciated all the time and effort he took to get the job done right.

After Hurricane Sandy I noticed shingles laying in my driveway. They'd blown off sometime during the storm. After unsuccessfully attempting to obtain an estimate from a local roofer I contacted John Roccia Family Roofing. I left a message and was surprised when I received a return call within a very short time. We agreed on a time and date for him to review the roof damage and he showed up as promised and left an estimate for me because I was not home at the time. Since I'd already been told by another roofer that I needed a new roof, I was pleasantly surprised when John called and said he would replace the damaged shingles and I had 3 to 5 years on my existing roof. We once again set a date and time and true to his word, he arrived on time and went to work immediately fixing the missing/damaged shingles. I highly reccommend John and will use him again when my roof needs to be replaced. I wrote a review earlier but rated Roccia Roofing instead of John Roccia Family Roofing. I can't comment on Roccia Roofing since I did not use them.

Since I'd already been told by another roofer that I needed a new roof, I was totally surprised when John called and said I had 3 to 5 years left on my existing roof and that he would relace the wind damages shingles. We set a date and a time and he arrived on time and he went to work and fixed the missing shingles. When the time comes for a new roof I will definitely use John Roccia.

He was honest. He cleaned up. He arrived when he said he would.

As in previous reviews this was again a great experience with John. He came out as as scheduled, was polite and most of all honest. We had been given two other quotes both telling us we needed a new roof. John assessed the situation and told us that we did not need a new roof and that the work that had been done previously to fix the leaks had been done in the wrong place! We scheduled him to do the work-the date above is approximate- and as in other reviews he told us to pay him for the leak repair after the first big rainfall. We got through Sandy with no problems and paid John for all of his work. We highly recommend him and appreciated that he saved us over $2,500! Thanks John.

Mr. Roccia was very professional in every way. My former roofer, whom I had engaged for about thirty years, retired last year, and I was very concerned about finding a replacement. Speaking and meeting with Mr. Roccia was reassuring that I had found someone with integrity and who cared about the work he performed.

We found John Roccia on Angie's list and had him come out and give an estimate to replace some shingles on our church's roof that were lost during Hurricane Sandy. His price was reasonable, so we had him do the work. We were concerned about having the roof fixed quickly, because a Nor'Easter was predicted. Despite roof damage all over our area from the hurricane, John came out the day after we asked him to do the work. He and his team were very thorough, and the job was completed before the storm. The insurance adjuster came out and was also satisfied with the work. We are going to need a new roof on that portion of the church. Although we will be looking at bids from several places, John Roccia will be very seriously considered to do that job as well. Angie's List was very helpful in our search for a competent, honest roofer who could get the job done quickly.

Everything went well. John was very responsive throughout the entire process and did an amazing job.

John came by to take a look at a leak we had during a recent storm. He immediately identified the issue and explained the simple steps that I needed to take to fix it on my own. While up on the roof, John also showed me a few spots that needed to be cleaned out regularly in order to avoid future issues. My knowledge of roofing is minimal at best, so John could have told me I needed major work and I would have believed him. His honesty and willingness to give me some tips are why I will call or recommend John for any future needs.

The small roof replacement was done beautifully - these guys are perfectionists! The main roof coating really helped keep the temperature down in the house on hot days, as promised. He also did a temporary repair of a small leak without charging for it.

Our roof had been leaking onto the 3rd floor (former attic) since before we purchased the house despite the claims of the previoius owner. Apparently the leak was caused by prior hail damage, which he never fixed. We tried to get this repaired through the company obtained by the previous owner that provided the roof warranty, but this was apparently a "fly by night" company who never responded to our phone calls or letters. The leak was so bad that we put a 30 gallon trash can under the biggest leak and would get between 10 and 15 gallons during a really good storm. We finally called John and he came out and quickly gave us a very good quote, guaranteeing the work would fix the leaking. He scheduled the repairs around my work schedule, showed up with his crew promptly, and very quietly--without any muss or fuss--made the repairs in a few hours with a very professional crew of three. We had a few light storms soon after and experienced no leaks. All fine and good. But what I was really waiting for was a real mother of a storm, which we experienced about a month or so later. What can I say? Dry as a bone. What I can't say is enough about John and his crew. If every contractor was as honest and professional as John, homeowners wouldn't have any horror stories to tell. We plan to add a covered porch in a couple of years, and you can be sure we'll ask John to do as much of the work as he can. We HIGHLY recommend John to anyone who wants the right job done right. John Roccia was courteous and professional. I liked the fact that he was present for the estimate/inspection and also conducted the repair work. Careful work, perfect outcome. I was particularly impressed that he did not want to be paid in full until I had a chance to test the repairs after a hard rain. Highly recommended.

John Roccia is completely trustworthy, honest, punctual, and professional. We asked John to do some serious roof repair after we noticed water leaks in the house. We had asked another roofer to fix the roof some months previously but the leaks came back with the first heavy rain. John not only fixed the leaks properly but noticed other weak areas around the windows that the first roofers had missed completely. The roof and the windows are now watertight. We enjoyed working with John. His work is reasonably priced and he certainly knows what he is doing. In addition, he is extraordinarily polite. We were so pleased with his work that when we decided to reroute a downspout that had an unnecessary angle that routinely stopped up with debris, we called upon John. Once again John did the work correctly and meticulously. We recommend John Roccia enthusiastically and without hesitation.

if john did a roof for the pope, he'd be on the fast track to beatification. every aspect of his work was professional, meticulous and well-researched. his punctuality for appointments is incomparable. he thoroughly explains how he is doing things and why. he gave excellent advice on selecting shingle color, which is far tougher than picking a wall paint. other roofers were in a hurry to take away my antique and structurally sound copper gutters, denying they had any scrap value (do i look that stupid?), while he instantly proclaimed them to be in good condition and of better quality than any gutter they are making now. he is also the ONLY roofer of 4 i interviewed who understood how to properly vent a roof, and noted that improper venting: a) will void manufacturer's shingle warranty (this can be verified at manufacturers websites); b) shorten life of shingles. everyone else wanted to slap on a ridge vent with no intake venting and called it vented. (no air coming in = no air coming out the top. its physics.) he also advised me on how to properly insulate the crawl space to reduce the significant ice-damming problem i've had on my steep roof, and agreed to do it himself while he had the old shingles out. he took particular care with the vent placement to make sure it was ideal--having the vent manufacturer representative come himself to verify his plans. after it finally rained i walked around outside in bliss admiring my newly adjusted gutters and enjoyed watching the water drain properly for the first time in 20 years. he was also the only roofer to recognize that a dumpster would not fit in my driveway without destroying my landscaping. not a single plant was damaged in the whole process, and they left the place as clean as they found it. the roof is now the most beautiful part of my house and puts the rest of it to shame. his staff is charming, mature and professional and probably from another planet.

Do use this company if money is not a factor to you.

The insulation company that we hired to insulate our attic and third floor recommended that we speak to a roofer about putting a ridge vent along our roof for proper ventilation. John Roccia was the third company I called (based on the stellar Angie's List reviews), and I found him to be very knowledgable and also patient with my many questions. He returned my phone call the day after I left the initial message, and we made an appointment for an estimate. He showed up on time and spent quite a lot of time in my house answering my questions. He explained to me in detail why ventilation is necessary and how vents work. It seemed to me that it was important to him that my questions got answered to my satisfaction, and he treated me with complete respect and honesty. I received his estimate the next day by email, and the price was very reasonable. He answered more of my questions via email very quickly and he even gave me a DVD about the brand of ridge vent he was recommending, which helped me to understand the differences between various vents. On the day of the job, John showed up on time (with his nephew, who is also extremely friendly and professional) and completed the work that day, as promised. He emailed me later to say he'd come back the next day to repair the chimney flashing, which he noticed was pulling away from the stone. I highly recommend John Roccia for any roofing work you may need. He is so professional and responsive, and one of the best contractors I've ever worked with!

We had a new roof installed by a roofer other than Mr. Roccia . It leaked immediately after installation. The original roofer was both slow to respond to our calls and could not fix the leak when he eventually would show up. I searched Angie's List for a roofer and chose Mr. Roccia because other members stated he was very good at finding leaks. Mr. Roccia returned our phone call to his office within two hours of our calling. He visited our home immediately the next day. We were in dire straights since this roof had been leaking for six months. Mr. Roccia examined the roof and explained the situation. He even advised that we may need a roofer/sider. He was going on vacation and stated that he would call when he returned in two weeks. Mr. Roccia called us two weeks to the day when he had been at our home. While Mr. Roccia was on vacation, the original roofer returned and found an error in the original installation and fixed it and the roof may be fixed. As of right now Mr. Roccia is not going to return unless the roof leaks again. I cannot state enough the professionalism, knowledge and honesty this man has shown me. We have had a lot of work done on our home in the last two years and have met a lot of different contractors and I would not hesitate to call Mr. Roccia to work on my roof if we have a problem in the future. My family and I have lived in this house for more than 15 years. When we first moved in the main problem roof had a (brand new roof). I did not find out that there was a leak until a few years later when the plaster began to peel. At first it was just small pieces that I would find when sweeping or sometimes when I retuned from work. The leak got progressively worse until one day an entire section of plaster collapsed. In a panic I found a roofer to repair the job. Again, after a short time the roof leaked again. Since the roof did not leak all of the time it was difficult and frustrating trying year after year, service after service to get it repaired. I called and had several companies including the company that put on the new roof to come out but the quotes were too expensive to consider. Sometime during my search I suffered a serious injury that prevented me from working and our bills began to grow too fast for us to keep up. From the beginning John and his staff were professional, courteous and prompt, always keeping me informed of findings and developments. They repaired both of the problems that the other roofers failed to discover. They were diligent until the job was complete and leak free. For the first time since we discovered the roofing problems we know that we don't have to worry about the roof leaks anymore. I would absolutely use this service again. The roof on our home addition has leaked for years, even after replacing it twice. Finally I found John on Angie's list. He responded immediately to my call and was prompt /on time for an evaluation appointment, followed quickly by an estimate. John did not try to sell me a new roof. Instead he identified the flaws in the recent roofing job (by another vendor) which were creating the current leaks. He sent his associate to measure carefully for replacement skylights, and when that order arrived John and his associate came out on a Sunday to install the skylights and make all repairs. JOhn also made a followup visit to remedy a minor drip caused by an unnoticed hairline crack in the roofing material. Finally AT LAST there are no roof leaks in that part of the house! I no longer need to watch the weather report and break out the tarps and buckets when rain is forecast! All along John lived up to his commitments and was completely straightforward every step of the way. HIs diligence, professionalism, and humor made this a positive experience.

John is a treasure! He checked out the damage in the BR ceiling on the 1st floor. By then, a good portion of drywall and insulation material from the ceiling and walls had been removed to better identify the source of the water leaks. He felt, the water had to come primarily from the threshold of the patio door above, apparently a typical issue for roof patios! With the presence of my contractor, John looked carefully at the roof construction on the second floor, the patio door installation, and the construction of the patio as a whole. Most of the water had come from the threshold, but also from the neighbor's roof line. He showed my contractor how to correct the problems to make the patio water proof for the next 50 years! Yes, it will take some work, but the patio will be fine and the water damage repaired. I am very grateful to John that he made himself available, inspite of his very busy schedule.
