If you are looking to remodel a bathroom (or kitchen), look no further. dRemodeling is the best! After an amazing experience working with dRemodeling 5 years ago to redo a guest bathroom and powder room, we took the plunge (no pun intended) to upgrade our master bathroom We added heated floors and a vent, removed an old radiator, enlarged the shower complete with bench, niches and a rain shower/spray combo, replaced a double sink with 2 sinks on either side of the room, installed Kohler lighted medicine cabinets, and a Kohler cleansing toilet seat, and more! We couldn't be happier with the results. The room looks gorgeous and is both comfortable and functional. Working with Dan and his team was, once again, a very positive experience. They are ALL professional, responsive, customer-focused, creative and talented. Our designer, Devin was a dream; her suggestions for everything from the layout options to the material choices was extraordinary. She was easy to work with and made us feel like true partners in design - much appreciated! The Project Managers and the entire team who made the design come alive were fabulous as well. They were a bunch of really hard-working, detail-oriented, neat guys who took extra care to ensure that everything was done right and that we were completely satisfied. Great work! Things I value about dRemodeling (used them to redo an entire full bathroom): 1. The design process: Devin (the designer) and I were able to work 99% of the design out entirely through e-mail communication, which worked wonderfully for my lifestyle. Her attention to the tiny details and ability to communicate through language and pictures was appreciated. This company has worked out all the technology to make this process online easy and highly efficient throughout the entire process from design, material selection, and payment. I can't tell you how much easier this made things with my busy schedule. 2. The teamwork: I originally was nervous about hiring a company in which you really don't meet the people who will be doing the work. Moreover, different teams of people (all part of dRemodeling, no subs) move in and out of the project at different times. However, they all communicate extremely well and make the process seemless. 3. The communication: I value this highly. I would email the team quite frequently with questions, and I always received either a phone call or email response within 24 hours addressing every single thing I asked. I can't say how highly I value this and appreciated this. 4. The professionalism: Not only did they do an excellent job and do exactly what they said they would, but they also fixed any damages that tend to occur during demo (patched, spackled, painted a hole in the ceiling; spackled and painted a crack in a wall, etc.). No extra charge, no excuses, nothing. 5. The transparency: all costs were clearly laid out from the very beginning in a detailed cost estimate and updated frequently. No mysteries. I would definitely hire this team again.

This review is delayed due to long term family illness and subsequent death in family. However, dRemodeling did such a good job with the project, I felt compelled to post this review, even if it is late. Using Angie’s List, we consulted three contractors for estimates. We had considered using dRemodeling for our major kitchen remodel several years earlier but decided to go with another company. Based on the excellent reviews on Angie’s List, we scheduled a meeting with Dan Dragonir, the owner of dRemodeling and one of his designers, Ashley. We discussed design ideas, materials, cost, work schedule and expected completion time. Shortly thereafter, Dan provided us with a document which included a lot of information about major costs associated with typical bathroom remodel. We asked him to proceed with providing us with a design proposal. We liked the idea of Dan having a showroom where we could go to look at materials and speak to the designer. After we saw the designs, the estimated cost and completion time, we decided to hire dRemodeling. Our bathroom remodel was a major undertaking. It involved gutting 3 bathrooms down to the studs, in a house that is nearly 130 years old. Although we stayed within the existing footprint of the bathrooms (no enlargement), due to the age of the house, the project was complex, with surprises lurking around every corner. Nothing is level or square in a house this old. Structural issues needed to be addressed before the rebuild could begin. This prolonged the project. The demolition began February 20th, 2017 things moved along fairly smoothly. Dan and the designers (Ashley and Stephanie) were very responsive to suggestions and questions; they were available by phone, text or e-mail. As work progressed, we decided on a number of upgrades and Dan always informed of the additional costs in advance so we could decide how we wanted to proceed. As I mentioned, there were challenges throughout the job. Design changes had to be made in the main bathroom because the original design was not feasible, according to the engineer. This was somewhat disappointing but we worked around it. The technicians were superb. They were highly skilled, knowledgeable, hardworking and conscientious about minimizing dust and dirt and cleaning up at the end of the day. Any unavoidable collateral damage (ex., cracks in plaster to adjoining rooms, suspended ceiling tiles in room below bathroom damaged) was addressed immediately. The project was finalized in mid-June. A month or so later, we found what we thought was a potential plumbing problem and called Dan. He sent someone out immediately to investigate and we determined it was NOT related to the project. It was resolved to our satisfaction. Here are the pros and areas needing improvement: Pros - Price: Cost of job was reasonable compared to other estimates. Dan and his designers will work with you to stay within your budget -Quality: The technicians are knowledgeable, highly skilled and meticulous. They took great care to protect other areas of our home and cleaned up every day. Some collateral damage occurred during demolition and everything was repaired to our satisfaction. -Showroom: It was advantageous to have in-house designers and a showroom to look at materials. This was one of the reasons we selected this company. Dan and the designers (Ashley & Stephanie) were very responsive to changes we wanted to make as the project progressed -All employees are very professional, courteous and hard working Areas for Improvement -Scheduling: Dan (the owner) estimated each bathroom would take 15 days, for a total of 45 days to complete the project. We felt that was a bit optimistic. As previously mentioned, the age of the house created challenges that required more time, which we understood. Initially, the job moved along smoothly but after a while, there were days the technicians could have worked and they did not. We were not informed they weren't coming and didn't know the reason. We had to contact the office to find out what was going on. My husband and I are retired so we have a very flexible schedule. I travel out of state two weeks each month so we were able to work around their scheduling issues. However the project took nearly 5 months from start to finish. This could be a problem for people whose schedules aren't as flexible as ours. -Communication: There was no Project Manager on site on a regular basis. When issues came up on the job, we talked to the technician but they weren't empowered to resolve the issue without talking to someone or they asked that we call the office. This resulted in some miscommunication between the designer, the technicians, Dan and us. However, I must say, when I sent an e-mail to the designer or Dan, we generally received a prompt response. I realize Dan has a small operation and having a PM would be an additional expense. However, for a job this big, it would have made things work more smoothly. -Material Shipment: Make certain someone opens the boxes as the materials arrive, to check for damage. We were discouraged from opening boxes for safety reasons so we assumed the technicians were inspecting the material. All 3 toilets, an expensive linen closet and vanity top were broken. This was the freight company's fault, not dRemodeling however, the damage was not discovered until the boxes were opened for the materials to be installed. In one case it was beyond 30 days and the manufacturer did not want to replace it. This caused additional delays in completing the project. Despite the few areas needing improvement, overall, I would highly recommend using dRemodeling . We love the end result! Our bathrooms are beautiful and their price was competitive with other estimates we had gotten. All employees were a pleasure to work with!

The process from beginning to end went really well with Dremodeling. I wanted to have the same resource design and complete all of the work for our kitchen remodel. After searching through different sites and reading numerous reviews, Dremodeling was one of the finalists for our job. From the start of the process, I was extremely happy with the responsiveness of Dan and his whole team. Our designer, Allison, really listened to what we needed as a family with young children and was a joy to work with. The crew that was on site was incredibly careful, cleaned up each day, and were very courteous in each interaction. The work was completed on the timeline that was originally outlined and we are incredibly happy with the end result.

We hired dRemodeling to both design and carry out a full remodel of our kitchen--we fully gutted the room and made significant changes to its footprint. We found the people at dRemodeling to be honest and fair, and their finished product to be top notch. dRemodeling was respectful of the budget we set for our project, and never attempted to up-sell us. To the contrary, they worked with us to achieve the look were going for within our budget. We would absolutely work with them again. At the start of the process, we met with Devin, dRemodeling's designer. Devin developed a layout that vastly improved the flow of and work space in our kitchen. She was also extremely helpful in identifying materials and finishes that captured the look we were going for. The crew that performed the work was very professional, and listened to questions and concerns we had throughout the process. Our only criticism is what we perceived to be slow progress at points during the project. However, Dan (who I believe is the owner) was always quick to take calls about our concerns, and the final product was worth the wait. I still recommend dRemodeling, but if you engage them, I encourage you to set clear expectations about the timeline for your project. In sum, dRemodeling does great work, at a fair price, and is staffed by honest and friendly people. I recommend using them.

I cannot recommend dRemodeling enough. We moved into our dream townhouse last December…but the kitchen was closed off, old, and outdated. We knew we wanted to change/ remodel it but were not sure how. A project such as this can be scary. After hearing horror stories about contractors that disappear and renovations that take forever, we contacted a few firms. From the moment Dan arrived, we felt very comfortable with dRemodeling. They were professional and prompt, unlike a few others we interviewed. After our meeting, Dan sent over detailed cost estimates within the budget we discussed. Compared to a few other places, this really sold us. dRemodeling’s design team is amazing as well. We worked with Allison. She asked us to put together pinterest boards of kitchen looks/ designs/ products that we liked and wanted for inspiration. After those boards, we met in person and she walked us through their showroom. A few weeks later, she presented a computer-generated 3D rendering of the new kitchen and it looked fantastic. She gave us cabinet suggestions that we didn’t know existed but really helped us use our smaller space more efficiently. She even found an amazing tile for the kitchen floor. It looks incredible. The whole process took a little over a month, and Dan’s team stayed on track. He communicated the progress with us regularly. His team works for him, so no outside contractors showing up. All of his guys are great – professional and hard working. I was home a lot during the construction and everyone stayed on task. They covered everything to help prevent dust and used tarps to ensure that our hardwood floors remained clean. I also like that dRemodeling puts their projects on Instagram. It sounds kind of weird, but they are eager to show off their work and their progress. In the end, we had dRemodeling remove our entire kitchen and put up a new one. It was an extensive project, but they made it much easier to deal with and seem manageable. After dRemodeling’s professionalism, we now want to redo our master bath and will definitely use Dan and dRemodeing again!

Update (7/31/18): dRemodeling issued me a full refund of the $145 home estimate fee. Following my review and dRemodeling's response, I reached out to them via email. I received a reply within the hour and my refund check was mailed the same day. Their new Office & Marketing Manager, Tammy, was very pleasant to work with. I appreciated that they accepted responsibility for my negative experience. It does seem as though their office is running more smoothly these days. Orginal Review: I did not have a positive experience with the dRemodeling home estimate process. I paid the $145 fee on 1/23/18. I had the site visit/home assessment on 2/1/18. I visited the design showroom on 2/2/18. I then waited three weeks to receive the final proposal on 2/26/18. When I declined to move forward on 3/5/18, I requested the dimensions and photos taken be sent to me. I thought that is what I had paid for in part. I never received a response. I have a small, partially finished basement. I was very surprised to receive a proposal in the $67-80K range to complete what I had intended to be a modest renovation. From the very beginning, I requested the estimate be broken down by the three rooms (main area, bathroom and laundry/utility room) and this was not done. If I wanted to tailor the project to fit my budget, I wouldn’t know where to begin as nothing was itemized on the estimate. The estimate was vague and contained mostly boilerplate language that was not specific to my project. In fact, my husband and I wondered if we had even received the correct estimate. I don't feel dRemodeling delivered on what was promised, which did not give me confidence in hiring them. On 5/21/18, I replied to a follow-up email sent by dRemodeling with these same comments and never received a response.

dRemodeling did an excellent job with our bathroom remodel. It was a complete job, meaning they demolished the old bathroom--everything from walls, window, door, floor, ceiling, and all the bathroom bits--and put in a whole new bathroom. They hauled away the old materials and updated the wiring and plumbing. Their designer did a great job working with me to find the right materials and fixtures, and their showroom had plenty of styles to choose from. The workers were polite and took precautions to keep dust and dirt to a minimum outside of the bathroom. We are very happy with the results.

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the dRemodeling team that executed the renovations to our home an 11! Led by Tudor, our foreman, the team was professional, respectful and skilled. It is always hard having someone you don’t know virtually moving in with you for 3 months, but I believe I speak for the entire family (except, perhaps for the cat who had to be restricted to a bedroom during the day) when I say that we truly missed having them around after he job was completed. Our job was pretty extensive, involving the entire first floor of our home and the end-result far exceeded my expectations. As one of our friends commented, this looks like something you would see on HGTV! Though I had a pretty good idea of the design I wanted to implement, Devin, our dRemodeling designer, was insightful and resourceful at taking that plan to the next level. She was also immensely patient! While the scope of the project expanded during the course of construction, along with concomitant cost, the cost increases were fair and equitable. My husband and I have already recommended dRemodeling to friends who are considering renovation work and will gladly continue to do so.

Quite well indeed! When we moved into our new house in 1993, we had chosen the carpets, tiles, appliances, cabinets, toilets, shower/tub, colors, and numerous better quality upgrades, but the friendly and agreeable builder had a cash flow problem that after a time left him with a smaller pool of people willing to work for him, with skilled workers scarcer still, so we had lots of problems with workmanship and incorrect installations, even when the products installed were generally of better quality. When the cold water was marked H and the hot C, we joked that it was in Spanish, with H for helado (icy) and C for caliente (hot), but when the toilets didn’t work, we felt less like joking. Over the years, friendly, local plumbers and handymen repaired or replaced different items, but some underlying plumbing issues were not resolved, in particular in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs powder room/laundry underneath it. We decided it was time now to get the shared plumbing problems fixed once and for all, remodeling the bathroom since it would be pretty much demolished anyway to get to the problems, and touching up the powder room, but this time we had to make sure we could find someone who could do quality work. How? We decided to read reviews in sites such as where you’re reading right now. Sure enough, there we found a very highly rated company, with a team that covered every skill set needed to do serious remodeling (as opposed to minor repairs, which they don’t do). This is how we chose dRemodeling. The results have surpassed our optimistic expectations. To begin with, their approach is detailed and systematic, so you know where you are at any point in the project. The first stage is the design, with spreadsheets of specifications and sources of each part and fitting, large plans drawn to scale, and computer graphics to show what it looks like in three dimensions. The design stage can be a standalone, as it would make the work easier for any team, specifying everything they need and where it goes, but we chose to continue with dRemodeling for the implementation, which was a wise choice, because they are also particularly skilled at solving problems that arise from unforeseen circumstances. With team members from many different countries, including this one, dRemodeling has a wealth of unique building techniques learned in the different craftsman traditions of countries all over the globe, along with a firm grasp of the latest technology. The many bilingual or multilingual workers have an edge in the problem-solving area because of the different ways different languages grapple with problems. It’s like switching into four wheel drive when the road gets more difficult. Defects in the original design and construction of the house, along with unorthodox quick fixes by handymen over the years, made for many surprise unforeseen circumstances that required skilled and careful rerouting. Lesser workers would have said, “You can’t do that here,” or, “we’ll have to rip it all out and start from scratch, for another 15-20 thousand.” One dRemodeling worker in particular, whom we observed more often, impressed us with his quiet, calm, steady precision and his creative problem-solving. Tiles were cut perfectly, without the usual breakage/wastage, and the sheetrock cut and removed to show what was underneath, or for rerouting, went right back where it came from, with seams polished flat. Sometimes it was not easy, but he left everything working perfectly, as we preferred it to look, and in accordance with all the building codes. Now we enjoy the luxury of indoor plumbing that works perfectly, better tub, shower, toilet, vanity, along with a high tech bidet seat and colors we like, even though they are not currently in fashion. It wasn’t cheap, but for the quality of work, and the extra work solving unforeseen problems, it was quite reasonable, and we actually saved a lot on materials, without the hassle of getting them ourselves, and at a much better price than what we would have paid at Home Depot or Lowes. Unlike many companies that buy materials wholesale and sell them to the customer at retail, dRemodeling shares their price advantage on materials with the customer. They earn their money as fine craftsmen doing quality work, rather than by selling materials for a hefty profit. When I get the half basement cleaned out, and save up some money, I want to get it converted into an Airbnb efficiency. Who am I going to call? THE remodeling company, dRemodeling!

We had Stephanie help us do the design, and her input was always spot on. The whole team was extremely supportive and patient as we slogged through the various design choices. We were especially impressed by how responsive to their team was in advance of starting the project. Once the project started, the team members were punctual, courteous, and extremely professional. They went to great lengths to keep our home as clean as possible during a potentially very dusty job. We were particularly impressed by the communication and responsiveness from the team. They use WhatsApp, which was really awesome and avoided many potential delays that can arise due to poor communication. The final product is spectacular, and we are very appreciative of their craftsmanship! We would use DRemodeling again without any hesitation and recommend without reservation.

Overall I am very happy with the final product (a new kitchen). The design process was a bit lengthy, and there were several instances where start times did not manifest as intended. The overall quality of the site lead was impeccable though. Everything went great. I started by getting several estimates, and dRemodeling was very competitive. I decided to go with them because I recognized the value of hiring a team to complete my basement, rather than a one/two man outfit. This was the right decision. Allison completed the design, and provided a couple different options. My wife and I really like the one we chose, and it's nothing I could have envisioned on my own. Dan and his crew started on the project bright and early on the chosen kickoff date, and were at the house every weekday to get the job done timely. Dan and Allison were very responsive - providing regular updates, and answering all my questions quickly. I also appreciated that they were very considerate of the budget. Dan provided up front quotes for any additional details I was considering (crown molding, cabinetry, etc.), and stuck to the prices as laid out. We could not have been more pleased with the end result. Everyone who has seen the space is blown away by the transformation. The finished basement has added a significant amount of livable space to our home, and were looking forward to enjoying it for years to come.

The project went very well. From the beginning, the assessment and proposal for our project was thorough and detailed. Once we agreed to go ahead with the work, the design process was terrific. We had a wide array of choices and all the time we needed was taken to help us find and choose room features which fit our home, our budget and our taste. Work was done carefully in a timely way, pretty close to the original timeline. Every crew which came to our home, from demo to electric to plumbing to carpentry, flooring, etc. was friendly, professional, careful with our surroundings, quiet, respectful and neat. Our kitchen was transformed from a dark, outdated, dysfunctional room to a bright kitchen with terrific flow. Any concerns we had were taken seriously and addressed quickly and we had easy access by phone and email to the owner and the designer. Our experience started with Dan, coming to our home and giving us an estimate. He was professional, honest and upfront about costs. Also, the turn around time on the estimate was quick. Stephanie, the firm's interior designer is amazing. For us, not being creative or having a good eye for design, she was the key to the whole project. We shared ideas. She tweaked them and came up with gorgeous plans for all 3 rooms. Although, dRemodeling was not the least expensive, they were in the ballpark with the other companies we talked to, and Dan and Stephanie's organization and understanding of what we wanted made us feel really comfortable. Dan and the team at dRemodeling did a great job on a major bathroom renovation for us. They did a great job on everything stated with initial design work, picking out materials and then finishing the job in a timely fashion. We were please with the quality of their work and the price was reasonable. They quickly handled any minor issues that came up over the course of the project. Also, they did a great job keeping the worksite clean and being careful to clean up so dust didn't spread through the house --- a minor detail but one which has been a major annoyance for us with other contractors.
