First , i have been in sales and sales management for over 30 years so I am very hard to please and I expect people to follow through on their commitments I have never written a recommendation before this and I have written a few complaints. After I called Wall King and left a message I was contacted the same day by Rick and we set an appointment to get an estimate. He showed up on time, gave me a brochure, asked what I wanted , offered references,surveyed the job and gave me some helpful suggestions. He took measurements and said I would have a quote in writing in 2 days. The quote came 2 days later and it was significantly less then the quotes I had from 2 other landscapers. I called him asked a few questions and we set an appointment for Bill, the owner, to come to my house and finalize the details. Bill showed up at the preset time-he was professional and friendly. He went over the job in detail to make sure I knew exactly what I was getting , what they would do, how long it would take and the exact price. I was pleased with my experience at this point so we set a date for the work to begin. Bill and his crew showed up at 8AM and immediately went to work. Throughout the day I went out and asked the crew some questions. They were more than happy to answer all my questions-they were courteous and knowledgeable. Near the end of the day Bill had me walk the job with him to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Finally at the end of the day the crew did a great job cleaning up the site. The wall is beautiful!! The work is top quality, everything was done on time, Bill and his crew are professional and friendly and they followed through on every commitment they made. I highly recommend Wall King for any retaining wall work you need.

Rick came out to provide an estimate of the project in mid March.  The estimate came in well below what we had been quoted by other companies and they would be using excavation equipment which would allow them to complete the project in just a few days rather than a few weeks.  We decided in mid-April to go with Wall King.  Upon letting Rick know we were ready to move forward, Bill Fenk contacted us to come out and review the project to make sure everything was in order.  Bill came out quickly and confirmed we would be scheduled within 3 weeks.  Bill stuck to this timeline and called us the first week of May to let us know he would be coming the following Wednesday.  We aren't sure what time the crew got here in the morning but by the time I came home at about 8:30am, they were already here and working.  They saved some of the hostas that were in the danger zone of  the area they had to dig back to which we really appreciated.  We had spoken with them about putting in forms so that we can install a fence later on down the line and while they were working on the project, Bill called my wife to check on spacing for these as well as double checked with me to make sure everything was in order and they were going to pick up the correct number of forms.  Once they finished the wall, they leveled our yard which was quite hilly after sliding towards the previous failing wall, and reseeded the entire area that was disrupted during the project.  They expected the project to take one long day or 2 days, but they were finished completely by about 4pm the first day.  The finished product looks great and we already have grass coming up.  Rick and Bill were very professional and communicated effectively throughout the entire process.  We definitely appreciate their hard work and it is clear that their primary function as a business is retaining walls.  We would definitely recommend them to others and would use them again in the future.

Bill was very responsive and professional, and we were very happy with the work done. Bill gave us two estimates--one for the option where they would re-use our existing bricks, and one for the (more expensive) option where they would use new bricks. We never felt pressured to go for the more expensive option, and we appreciated the honesty. The crew was punctual and finished the whole thing in a single day.

Very professional and personable. Very prompt. Finished the job in 2 days as promised. Did a beautiful job! Cleaned up everything. Prior to starting the job, Bill took time to review expectations & made sure we were on the same page. Price was also very reasonable -- and was worth every penny. Nice crew, too. I will use them again if if I have future jobs and will recommend them to anyone that may need their services. The project has also increased my property value. A+ job

He came to our home to discuss what we were looking for, took measurements, and contacted me within a few days with an estimate. When I said I wanted to move forward, he made arrangements for Bill Fenk, the owner, to look over the plan with me. We discussed some additional options and soon I received a revised estimate. I was impressed by Wall King's responsiveness and the fact that they only do retaining walls and paver walkways. Bill and I discussed a start date and he told me to expect work to be done in May. Thinking we were talking about mid-to late May, I was pleasantly surprised when Bill asked if it was okay for work to start on April 28 or 29. On Friday morning, April 29, I met with Bill at 7:15 a.m, met his crew, and reviewed the plan. His crew is awesome. When I arrived home from work later in the day, the excavation for the side wall was gone. My old sidewalk was gone as well, and all the soil they dug up had been hauled away. Their machines stayed in my yard for the weekend and they told me they would return early Monday morning to continue. Monday morning, work began early and continued until after 5 p.m. By then I had the side wall and the sidewalk mostly completed. On Tuesday, they had backfilled the side wall and smoothed out my whole side yard. Then they built the front wall and new cast concrete steps. Wednesday, they finished the curved upper portion of the front wall, and completed the sidewalk up to the steps. Then they filled, graded, and added topsoil to the yard, re-seeded the lawn, and then filled in the new parking area with gravel. They cleaned up everything and restored the portion of my neighbor's yard disrupted by the wall excavation. These men worked nonstop each day from arrival to departure. The job was a big one and they did it in three and a half days! They were friendly and work very well together. Bill assigns his crew to the job until it is finished. Not only did my wife and I get a beautiful, well built retaining wall, new sidewalk, and fantastic new steps, but we got our yard graded and landscaped. As I looked at their progress, I found that every time I thought to myself it would be great if they did something, within a few minutes someone was working on it.. I kept expecting to find Jason Cameron and a Yard Crashers crew somewhere. Our neighbors keep stopping by to see the work. I was impressed that Bill stayed in touch with me throughout the job even though my wife and I had no issues or concerns. The cost may seem high, but I believe for the amount and quality of work done it was worth every penny. Bill and Rick, amazing job getting my business. I would hire you again in a heartbeat. IT WAS TERRIBLE. Rick was very rude and disrespectful. He criticized everything, my landscaping, the first company that did the wall, everything. He kept telling me how he didn't want his crew to do jobs by hand so he refused to give me an estimate for the second part of the quote I wanted unless I ripped out half of my yard in order to get the equipment that they used for the job. He said it would be a waste of his time if he could not use the machinery to do the work. He kept pushing me to get the other wall on the other side of the driveway done. There was nothing wrong with this wall, but he kept insisting that I get it done along with the other wall and how it was going to fall and the company that put it up originally did not do the job correctly. I told him I was there when they put up the wall and I took pictures of the progress and he kept saying I was lying and to not "bs" him (He said the actual words though) he said this multiple times every time I said I'd recorded something or took pictures or anytime I disagreed with anything he was saying I was lying or "bsing" him. He also told me that they were not a brick laying company, or a concrete company, or a landscaping company, but a wall company, he said this several times, which I didn't understand why he was saying that because we weren't talking about any of those things. He constantly criticized my landscaping, he was obsessed with my landscaping for some reason. He told me for them to do one of the walls I would have to dig up my plants and throw them away. I kept telling him that if we had to dig them up I could just replant them elsewhere and he kept insisting that I just throw them away. He grabbed one of my bulbs and said this is just a $7 plant you can buy another one. I spent good money on everything in my yard and told him I wasn't throwing anything away, when I said this he looked at me like I was crazy. At one point he told me that my ornamental bush had only been in the ground a couple years, when I told him it been there over 5 years he proceeded to tell me I was lying and attempted to grab the bush out of the ground, tugging and pulling on it, and said look at how loose it is this has only been in the ground for a couple years. Towards the end of the conversation he said he usually only works on homes in the same area of the business which is about 40 minutes away from us, so I didn't understand why he came to give an estimate if he didn't do business there.

These guys were professional, responsive, and fast.  Timely response to all emails, and ensured it would be done right - including contacting the surveyor directly to make sure the property lines were right.  The even unclogged my driveway drain at the end of their work -- and they weren't the ones who clogged it in the first place.  Oh, and they brought the work in under budget.  I'd highly recommend them.

Bill from Wall King was a pleasure to work with. He was friendly, efficient, and accommodating at all stages of the project.
We received an estimate quickly, and the final cost was within the estimate. He worked with us to design our new wall, clearly expressing the tradeoffs with different decisions and working with us to design a good solution. For example, we had a gas line that was potentially in the way. He said that we could have the gas line moved, but we could also build a tier into the wall to accommodate its current location. We chose the tier, which not only looks nice, but also saved us at least a thousand dollars.
The wall was put up quickly and efficiently. It is at least 100 feet long, with different tiers, and other work (we had a new stone walkway and set of steps put in), and it was all done within a week. My neighbors (old business men from the offices across the street) commented on how amazed they were with how quickly the work was done. (They also said it looks "great!").
The finished wall looks incredibly nice. The quality of work and its final appearance exceeded our expectations. We have received a number of compliments from people in the neighborhood about how nice it looks.
We won't need to replace this wall for a long time, so I, unfortunately, won't get the chance to work with Bill again soon. But, I would highly recommend him and the people at Wall King. It was clear to me that Bill takes pride in his work and wants his customers to be happy with the end result. We were extremely happy with our experience.

Excellent!  We are so pleased with the results. Bill was terrific to work with; prompt and professional.  An excellent price for a terrific job.  I would not hesitate to use them again and would enthusiastically recommend them to my friends.

Fantastic from start to finish.  Bill Fenk, the owner, is honest and straight forward.  The price was competitive, and the final price was spot-on the same as what the original quote was.  No surprises along the way.  He and his crew are very polite, and worked incredibly hard.  They completed the job, in full, in only 3 business days.  There were a few spots that I didn't like what they'd done, and they immediatley changed them so I was satisfied.  Another thing I liked is that they do one job at a time, no bouncing around between multiple jobsites at once.  That means that their full attention is on your job while it's being done, and Bill is on-site the whole time.  No subcontractors or anything either, it's all Wall King employees.  Do yourself a favor and hire this company.

I contacted them late last summer as I first got the idea to complete this project, but wasn't sure what all entailed. I chose Wall King because of the meticulous detail they put into planning the backyard wall and patio. The level of detail and care they put into the plan was very impressive. I agreed in late fall to go through with the plan in the fall with the idea they'd start this spring and that's exactly what happened. 
The communication was great and they let me know ahead of time when they could put me in their schedule, once the spring weather calmed down. The week before they started, they came out to go over the project again, which was nice. 
Once they started the project, it was discovered the drainage system for my downspouts was basically nonexistent (some lines going uphill to nowhere, another just emptying into my neighbor's yard). That brought the project to a halt because I had to bring in a plumber to have all the downspouts correctly tied in and then drained properly. I felt horrible because that threw Wall King's schedule off a week or so while that problem was remedied. Wall King was great, though, and adjusted their schedule to accommodate for this major issue.
When the plumbing issue was fixed, Wall King came back and finished the project. The wall was built and then a concrete crew came in to pour the patio and then Wall King came back to finish it all off. Once they were done, they leveled the side yard that had taken a beating from all the heavy machinery and then put down seed and straw.
The wall and patio exceeded my expectations! Bill and his crew were awesome to work with and there was no nonsense or anything. These guys came in, kicked a$$ and got it done all while being pretty cool. They took a basically useless and troublesome space in my backyard and turned it into a huge asset. I can't imagine how much value 
this added to my house. 
I want to thank Bill and the guys for working with me, especially the unexpected delay to get the plumbing issue fixed. 
It was just an awesome, hassle-free experience.
